I use hearing aida also. But about those sophisticated ones hmmm the problem is that if they spoil where will u repair it.I will advise u go to Ibadan its cheaper there that's where I got mine. Abuja is expensive. All those one of 15 k may not be good for profound hearing loss due to amplitude and clarity of sound

Where in Ibadan can I get it? Please send me their address

My 2 year old son has an hearing problem too, so we started out to alot of test and false results. But I was finally told to visit the Nigerian army audiology centre Yaba. It's just the next building after military hospital. We finally got the hearing aids (semiens) for around 550k.
He has been wearing it since November 2016. There has been improvements.

That's too expensive. For just one ear or both ears?

it's only God that can heal you my brother. Seek the face of God first and you shall need no man made implement for hearing. Ear problem is very terrible, I say this because I suffered it before.
I felt unbalanced because there were no equal pressure in both ears. I was embarrassed . I was depressed. But, when I turned to God and asked him for forgiveness of sins and divine healing, I got healed. I pray that you regain your hearing just as me in Jesus name, amen!

Amen

I thought I was the only one who could do that dimming ish but mine I can dim my right eye to boost the left one I suffered from quint eyes "half past 4 eyes "after my surgery to correct it i developed that diming ability...
Thanks for this! One of my sons has quint eyes and someone has been pushing my husband to correct them through surgery. He is just six years old. As for me, I have no qualms with his eyes like that so far its not stopping him from seeing clearly, besides he's a smart and cute boy. Would really show him your post.
I'm sorry about your hearing loss, may the Mighty hand of Jesus restore your hearing, amen!

quint Eyes is not owk I will advise you for his sake not yours to go for the surgery early I did mine when I was 15 years old the doctors said I should have done it ealier ..the problem with quint eyes is that one of the eyes muscles will be pulling the other one and it will weaken his eye sight very soon he might not be seeing clearly and also it was kinda traumatic for me back den kids used to make fun of me which affected my self esteem ...i did my surgery @kano eye hospital they have brilliant surgeons there its more like plastic surgery roughly 4hrs and cost abt 60- 80k then 10years back sha don't please just try and do it my elder sister also had hers there too ...

i'm sorry to hear about your ear Mr. op.
hearing aids are bulshit! so long it SHNL there is no certainty wether a hearing aid will work. that is because hearing aid works as sound amplifier; it's just like increasing the volume of your radio. that doctor maybe giving you a false hope.
and if you buy the hearing aid and they don't work, return would not be accepted.

your ultimate solution is colchear implant. but it's very expensive. upto 5million naira

I've SHNL too. i've been there, right now i've two hearing aid in my drawer. each for about 200k.

I don't want you to waste your money but, most importantly, i don't want you to feel sad over your hearing loss.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional - BUDDHA
I have Siemens BTE hearing device in my drawer too. Hehehe didn't work much. Even after spending whopping 250k.

But what about invisible hearing aids(ITC)? How effective?

to be honest I don't like wearing those hearing aids..
it look kinda embarrassing wearing it all the time..
I requested for the invisible hearing aid that you can hardly see..
but doctor said it not all that can wear it
depending on the situation and level of your hearing..
The doctor took my test result to puretone and got the hearing aid after one month for 120k

Bro see ehn I can relate very well. When you are seen wearing things like this, when people want to talk to you they'll over do it so annoyingly grin grin

Its true not everyone can wear the invisible aid.

I've used this particular type. But it's not strong enough.
How do we get our convo from here?

I would suggest you start learning sign language as a substitute, hearing aids only amplifies sound and doesn't necessarily give a reasonable sound.. besides the itching that comes with it..... I'm a sign language interpreter and I have friends who lost their hearing at their 20's and more, but today they have accepted their condition and took up sign language as alternative language though they converse very well like everyone just that they can't hear.. cochlear implants is also a no no... because you are neither deaf nor hearing.....

I have a condition where my hearing goes dim, like a door in my ear was closed. And I have to close my nose and pump air into my ear for it to open, sometimes it works and I can hear clear but it doesn't take long and I have to do it again.
Is this some kinda hearing loose
My dear sorry for the late response...I just login.

Now back to the issue at hand, don't take any issue concerning your ear for grant.
See an audiologist immediately and you will be shown the way forward.

Don't wait before it is too late...
I waited 27years before I took a step to get this hearing aid.

I trust you will do the honourable thing
Best wishes!!!!

Thats a receiver in canal hearing aids...
Is a digital one? what make is it? Can it be used for children? Can i get the contact of your audiologist so i can speak with him?
Kindly reply pls
Firstly,i apologized for responding late...
Most of your question would be best answered by my audiologist.
However, I believe it can be used for children.. It is a premium swiss quality product A digital that makes use of battery as small as that of a wrist watch.
where are you based? is ur kid the one in need of the hearing aid? I will send you his number when we talk better. May God makes everything right in HIS time

one of the adverse effect of cochlear implant is the risk of developing tinnitus which is the problem/condition the OP is trying to correct inn the first place.

OK dear, his dad has kept telling me about the self esteem ish.... But then we would train him in such a way that matters like that shouldn't affect his self worth. My main concern has always been, the aftermath of the surgery (just like you're experiencing the hearing loss). Though my husband and I would revisit that decision again. Thank you

Why is cochlear a no no. Are u saying it can't work for everyone or maybe because its too expensive. I lost my hearing in my 20s as well and I used hearing aids for like 2 to 3 years then I dropped it when it was becoming too annoying. Since then I have been managing myself just like that. My problem is that I'm not rich for those sophisticated hearing aids. My only hope is to travel out of this country, work and do the surgery if possible there. I don't know if I sound right bro.

So, we r many that have Tinnitus. Mine was as a result of auto accident where I sustain neck/head injuries. Though my case is mild to moderate, I wish I can hear well. I hope to have a foundation that cater for hearing loss patients. I will create a WhatsApp group where we can all share information, this will help us to coping with it. I will share d link here for people to join. As for d MTN Foundation, it's a scam..
Pls create a whatsapp group bro, so that we can communicate together on the way forward. I believe ultimate help will come from God and man. Were u at the MTN foundation last year. Pls let me know, MTN is a big scam, I wasted my money and time for that program and at the end its nothing.
