The monarch said this in a post he shared on IG some hours ago

"When Jaiz bank came up with the idea of getting a license for the operation of the bank, they proposed the funding of the bank’s capital with interest and I said no, you can’t fund a non-interest bank with interest. The required amount to be issued license was N5 billion at that time and they had only N1 billion.

I took my phone and called one of the richest men in Africa who is a Nigerian and a Muslim. I told him that N5 billion is needed for an Islamic bank to start operation and the founders have N1 billion, and he instantly agreed and issued a cheque of 4 billion. That is how the license was issued.

Some Nigerians thought the introduction of Islamic banking in the country was a move to Islamize Nigeria. No at all, everything that is normal in the world is not normal in Nigeria.

There is Islamic banking in London, India and in South Africa but the citizens there never thought it as a way of Islamizing their countries but it became an issue in Nigeria.

Today, Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is the chairman of the governing board and head of the general assembly of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM).

Is that an agenda of Islamizing Nigeria? No, It was done for the promotion and guidance in financial inclusion. That is how we are. However, the tradition of early marriage and the problem of girl child education in the North, calling on stakeholders to invest more on girl child education than building mosques.

75% of 18-15 married women in the country today are not educated, that is why the society is producing illiterate mothers and children. I am tired of building mosques daily. We keep building mosque while our children are not educated, our foundations and NGO’s should give much focus and priority to girl child education, the mosques are OK enough.

I am currently drafting a bill that will be sent to the State Assembly for legislation against early marriage. We need to ban it, all this issues of maternal health and Almajiri are courtesy of early marriage as a result of lack of education for our girl children, this is bringing us back."

If you can band this early marriage for your people. You have done a great thing for the north and have written your name in gold but Yerima will give you a hard fight because it will affect him a lot as he will not be able to divorce the older ones and marry a twelve year old again.

Baba that your bill would be dead on arrival. Even for the Kano wey you dey, your own Islamic clerics would rise up against you and tell you that it's unislamic and all sorts.
Good thinking though. One day northern Nigeria would be liberated from the shackles and retrogressive ideologies tied to Islam. They have dragged southern Nigeria backwards for too long in the spirit of one naijeriya and federal character.

There's only one meaning to this, the different components that make up Nigeria do not have one thing in common, they do not fight one course, and as such there will continue to be misunderstanding, Sanusi your people believe in Islamic banking, early marriage, Sharia, etc but the case is not the same with people down south. It is only wise to divide this country, so that who even wants to introduce Islamic banking can early achieve that.

Sanusi was once in government as the head of affairs of the apex bank. He had opportunity to help the country in his own little way, but it was during his regime as CBN governor that we witnessed so much corruption. (GEJ days). He only spoke of missing money 2 months to the expiration of his tenure. He also married an 18 year old princess as his fourth wife.

Talk is cheap.

He is advocating against girl child marriage but got married to an 18-year old.. I know some people will say an 18year old is an adult but we all know that if that girl was given a choice and actually wanted to marry at that age,she would marry someone that is definitely not her father's age.

Wawu! (his is news coming from a man who married an underage...

Do not blame Nigerians for being so pessimistic about the Islamic banking.
If you begin to reminisce on all the evils we have suffered from "so called islamists", you would applaud the majority for being so pessimistic.

The northern elite won't want their poor to be educated. They want them married off early and illiterate so they can continue giving birth to voters that will elect another born throway like Buhari, who has become a liability to the country.

They would rather build a mosque than school, because they can be indoctrinated easily in a mosque and taught how to hate southerners and vote northerners, despite the northerner being a dullard.

Thank you Sanusi for trying to be different. Hypocrisy on the part of the leaders and the led will consume northern Nigeria. It created Boko haram, it will create something worse if not contained. Infact the day shiites start to reply fire for fire , Northern Nigeria shall be no more.

Maybe you should. How many traditional leaders give a rat's ass about the welfare of tgeir followers?
I have always questioned the importance of these figureheads. Apart from strutting around in expensive traditional attire and showing up during ( some equally useless) traditional ceremonies I see little esle they do. With this man's actions I'm begin to believe that maybe they have a role to play afterall
