Arrant nonsense!! We have been to this path and it did not work. The only viable solution now is total and irrevocable disintegration of the cesspit called Nigeria.
No we haven't!..

When did you go through that part and was it with a united voice?

If half of the energy that has been used to clamour for secession since 2015 especially is poured into a clamour for restructuring, it would have been achieved decades ago. Besides, we must face reality, balkanising a nation is not beans, Nnamdi Kanu wasn't far from the truth when he asserted that the only way to divide a nation is through war.

Only NAIJA . COM> posted this tale.

If the ambassador said that, other international media would have said so

Time shall tell how this inevitable event will play out this time.

I truly think the ambassador was quoted out of context, if not it will be tragic to make such pronouncements and ruin any chance of a peaceful settlement of Nigeria's fundamental issues of resource control and political exclusion.

Anyhow, unless good representative governance with true federalism returns to Nigeria, Britain cannot guarantee a forced slavery of a section of Nigeria by the Fulanis. In any case, Britain already supplies Nigeria with weapons. The other side simply need to look eastwards for their supply.

How do you address quality leadership? Conduct elections from now till next 100 years in Nigeria as presently structured, a most qualified professor of Law or Economics from northern Nigeria must win a goat from southern Nigeria, so long as northern Nigeria wants to have the presidency in the north.

Fixed.

discusant:

A presidential candidate needs 25% of votes in 24 states to win. But northern soldiers wrongly used land mass as criterion and created 20 new federal units (19 states + Abuja) and hundreds of local govt areas in the ONE REGION north; but allowed only 17 states and fewer local govt areas in once TWO REGIONS South. This is the fraud. Land mass is never used as criterion to create new states or new regions or provinces in a federal country.

So the entire North is one region, but the South consists of 2 regions?

This is why you and the IPOB you represent are bigger frauds.

This means several things:

1. The US is also in support of one Nigeria because the UK and the US are long standing allies that never go against one another, especially on issues of sovereignty.

2. The UK and US are the most powerful members of the UN with veto powers, so a UN sponsored/supervised referendum is out of the question; it's just not happening.

3. In the event of military engagement in the quest for biafra, the UK and US will be on Nigeria's side again and defend her sovereignty (through sale of weapons or outright participation in the melee) like they did in 1967.

4. The Nigerian government now has even more impetus to prosecute and punish Nnamdi Kanu, a Briton, with this renewed UK support for an indivisible Nigeria.

5. The IPOB propaganda to paint Nigeria in bad light through fraudulent claims so as to gain the sympathy / support of the international community, has failed woefully.

What a sad day for the Liepods.
The British nor un has the power to decide whether or not a referendum will take place.
I'm neither for nor against biafra. They certainly have a right to self determination in the 21century!

But Britain and her allies have the power and capacity to help enforce the decision that Nigeria takes.

It's either the UN or the northern dominated national assembly.

Take your pick. I'm sure it's clearer now why I stated that a referendum is now out of the question.

Is it the UN or members of parliament in the UK that granted the referendum on Brexit?

No! It was simply a campaign promise made by then pm Cameron.

So yes a referendum is still very much on the table for the Igbos.

Be it economic or for what ever reason.

Stop sounding like you depend so desperately on the Igbos that u can't let them go... even if that may be the case.

Wrong. It was promised by Cameron but was decided by a parliamentary vote. That's why a brexit bill existed.

Referendum decision by the Nigerian parliament (NA) or the U.N. is totally out of the question.
