OMG! But why are some people like this? You asked for an advice and someone came to your rescue, only for you to start railing insult on him? I don't blame some people for not coming back to contribute their quota to this thread.

Good morning house. Please I need advice, assistance , etc.
My whole family stays in the US and I'm the only one in Nigeria. I applied for a visit visa last year but was denied due to the fact that I'm single lady and have no ties in Nigeria. Now my sister who is a nurse in the US says she wants to apply to a school so I can do my masters degree which I have always wanted but I'm scared of rejection again. The issues are
a) she has filed for me last year using my mum but that will take a very long time.
b) I still do not have any ties here in Nigeria.
c) She wants to apply to a school in the same State where she stays. NB she is my sponsor
d) I am scared of rejection again because it might look like I want migrate which I'm not really interested in.
I have gone through the thread and it seems my chances are kind of slim. Please kindly advice. Thanks

Hi!

First off, you'll need to get over the fear of being rejected. The worst the Embassy could say is a 'No', and then life goes on. Esp since you're not passionate about staying back.

With that out of the way, you'll need to do a good work at convincing everyone, not just the VO, that you really want to do this. And it's not just what your sister wants for you. There's nothing stopping you from taking charge of the entire application process. Choosing schools (and locations, taking tests, talking to others about your apps. All on your own.

Of course, your sis could provide some guidance. But that's it. Just little help here and there. Not the key ones for which you will be questioned on at the Embassy.

That way, it becomes easier to sell your story, and convince anyone you couldn't care less about staying back after study.

From anywhere in Oshodi, get a bus going to mile 2 and tell the conductor you're going to Toyota Bus stop. Immediately they drop you, the DHL office is directly beside you (to your left). Just cross the service lane and walk 50 metres or so to their gate. Thank msnas.

You're not really interested in migration?
Everyone of your family but you are in US. In last year alone, you applied for a B1/B2 visa and a migration petition was also filed for you.
I'm sorry if I'm not in a hurry to believe that you don't want to migrate.
Despite what I may think, I'll still attempt to address some of the issues you raised but not before I ask the you the following questions.

1) Do you really want to study? You mentioned that your sister wants to apply for a school in the city she lives in your behalf. Amongst other things, proof of a genuine student is that he does everything about the application himself.

2) Will your sister choose the school and major for you? If she does, how will you cope if it doesn't align with your interest? How will you do graduate work if you know nothing about the school or its graduate faculty?

Without even thinking much about it, I'd say an emphatic No! But then a lot of questions remain unanswered.
Are you doing graduate work in North Dakota? Or is it an undergraduate study?

Good afternoon to y'll, trust you are all doing well. I'm not new here, though been away for few months. My uncle is trying to convince my parent not to support me going to the USA based on trump issue and all that. He stays in the UK and his considering me applying to Canada to work not studying. I'm conversant with the requirements needed to get a visa in the USA. I'm just confused cos I just have to proceed for my masters. I hope Naija students are safe God bless y'll..

Oga Awesu122, Calm down the guy really pointed out the fact and truth in your application so far... I found it funny when u said u realize early enough after 4 application with this same school(CALUMS) and you were told by the VO that the school is not a standard one. If you ain't desperate as you claim you should have taking a sip of some MIlo grin and relax a bit man..... keep improving yourself and keep track of your application and take it one step at a time (like write standard test and everything b4 making another atempt).... Don't attack Twood base on some of his past reply and I think he told you the blantant true....Please don't come after me, am not good in exchanging words. Best of luck

Thanks for your candid advise bro
I really appreciate this , I have written a standardized test GRE to be precise where I scored a higher mark I posted it on this forum and the Twood guy was the first to ask me how I came about the score because t was very high, like he knows my ability, moreover concerning me applying 4 times I wrote the school and explained to them am having VIsA issue but they encouraged me to keep trying since it wasn't resumption time yet , don't know how to explain it anyway wish you would understand , back to basics I have gotten another admission now and was here to seek people's advice again , so that I don't make past mistake , this same Twood or Tboss was that on my mention spewing thrsh again , fact remain is not about being desperate , I just have to do what I have to do because so many oppourtunitues lies ahead immediately am done with the MBA , which I can't start to explain on this forum
Thanks for your concern anyway

1. All your family is in the US
2. You already have an immigrant petition filed for you.

By law, the number 1 criteria a VO must decide on is that you are not an intending immigrant. Based on the two factors above, how do you expect them to grant you a student visa?

Many are poor, frustrated and lack a clear direction for their lives. Once you understand this, much of the incoherent, spiteful bluster that passes for comment here become like water off a ducks back. You read, shake your head, wish them good luck and go your merry way.

T Woods, thanks for pointing that out, I really didn't know that law exists. So you are saying there's no point in trying

1. All your family is in the US
2. You already have an immigrant petition filed for you.

@Fredoricko thanks for your questions. My answer
Yes I really do want to study because that has always been my plan. Ok then, I will do everything myself. She doesn't have to pick for me.
I intend to choose the course myself which will be in line with Public Relations
