Good evening fellow N'Landers, am coming here cos i believe you guys are the right people to meet. I am a young guy of 21 and by the grace of God I would be through with NYSC by Feb 2014. Am currently serving in Kishi in Oyo State and the purpose of this thread is to seek ur advise on how to settle down at Ibadan after service cos i dnt want to go back to ma parents home and i believe i would be more industrious if alone. 1.The problem is how is Ibadan in terms of Job opportunies for a fresh graduate dat is through with service (I ve d intention of lookin for a private sch to teach cos i have flare for teaching and which can u recommend) 2. Which part of the city can some one start life and how is d cost of living, accomodation etc 3. Can someone get a good sch to teach for a start b4 d good job comes and possibly a night shift job to make ends meet. PLS note that this would b ma first time of living alone and back in ma sch days i always take a teaching job durin brks to solve ma own needs and am not d extravagant type. I wud really appreciate ur advice, suggestions and help. **I wud b much more happy if the Mods can do me d favour of movin it to d frnt page so as to get more helps and advice. Thanks |

Jamie b: Good evening fellow N'Landers, am coming here cos i believe you guys are the right people to meet.Ibadan barely have jobs compared to Lagos,PH, Abuja... But you definitely can get a job teaching in a private secondary school but the pay is very low(Btw 20k & 30k). Except you get one in the top notch schools such as Life Forth. Accommodation is very cheap. With 70-80k per annum, you can get a one bedroom flat depending on the location. Then you should realize getting a good job in Nigeria isn't about putting up applications without knowing anyone. It all has to do with connections. The Night job thing is impossible in Ibadan. I haven't heard of such before. |

Perharps, if an interview at Lag pops up, d stress wont be much. Thanks again. More contributions please. |

Ibadan is very decent to stay, you can get 3 bedroom flat at rate of 70k depends on the area. The only job you can easily get in ibadan is teaching, standard of living in ibadan is very easy unlike lagos I remembered 8yrs ago when I finished my service year and I promised myself that I would not return to my parent house in lagos, a mth to end my service year I went to ibadan to get 2bedroom flat at rate of 36k then, immediately I finished my service year I went to my parent house I showed them my certificate from there I moved to ibadan on the same day, that's how I became ARA IBADAN |

Olaleyeabdullah:You need not exercising fear, I picked up my life back in Ibadan after I was retrenched about 10 years ago and to the glory of God I am able to achieve a lot within the shortest possible time taking advantage of reasonable coat of living , It will interest you to know that I have no regret starting over in Ibadan and now finally in the United States for about years. Your guiding principles should be: Believe in yourself never allow people to condemn your actions or decision Set your target Start anyhow don't wait till you have enough fund or get a fat salary job remember experience is counting. Be thinking on how to stand on your own. God bless you |
