Photos reaching the Politics Nigeria newsdesk this afternoon reveal that the Nigerian police used teargas to disperse peaceful Shiite protesters at the Unity fountain in Abuja.

The protest called "FreeZakzaky" was against the government's continued detention of Shiekh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic movement of Nigeria (IMN).
