Is Mauritius still a better place to try out for Work and study? i got the news of Mauritius paying minimum wage starting from January 2018. I got admission in a school that offer me an internship and while in second year you will travel to Malaysia to study for one semester and you come back to Mauritius . fee is 4000 dollar for one year. Does this worth given a try my people?

of recent student on working visa can work for 20hrs without going through applying for any working permit. how true is that as well. By tomorrow i will have a live video meeting with the school to ask some questions as arranged by the school.

I stayed in Mauritius for a while and i've never heard of that school. I checked online and i noticed it was actually in the town where i was living. I'm trying to ascertain where exactly it is.

I have two clients in Mauritius working in a hotel presently

Though, the earnings is nothing to write home about, 50-70k per month
but its what they like for themselves though.

So, I guess there are jobs (few though) and the pay is not that big.

No, I was offered admission to Rhodes University in South Africa, so I couldn't go to UTM again.

I endorse this post. This guy obviously knows a lot about Mauritius.

it's a beautiful island country where you can come and relax, spend money and go to school. But don't expect to get a big paying job. The jobs you will get will just be enough for you to feed yourself and probably house yourself but not enough for you to pay for your school fees. Besides, most jobs will require you to be fluent in English and French(Bonsoir). The people who are lucky here are the programmers. Most other international students here work as casual workers in 5 star hotels where they stand from morning to night grin

If you must come to Mauritius, make sure the money throughout your stay is complete. The good things here is that it a relatively developed country. it is clean, peaceful and the ladies are beautiful just like the beaches of Grand Bay, Flic en flaque etc.
Hello bro,
I need to submit my application form at UTM, please assist me

Waow waow....you must be going through some sort of hardies over there..which of the university are you and which part do you live??...I do wish you well. Here is a little i can say about Mauritius, i live far away and only visit but i gat kidbro there.

I visited Mauritius twice last year and just left also with my kid bro. I am sponsoring his education at UTM. His own story differs from yours. Also when i visited i prefer the place and environment to many places i have been. Initially i wanted him to come over to study where i am but i happened to found UTM when i traveled for a conference. The university fees are so low and cheap (1430usd) for the program compared to my end and programs are run under 3years. I visited the university and met with the Head, i was informed its a government university and i love the courses and programs they offer.

I did not have a doubt and i was told they are accepting Nigerian at the first time for the program but they do have some others. I submitted his application and after 3 months he was granted admission and i was asked to pay 1540usd for fees and reg. The university requested for some docs to process his visa, within weeks i was notified he can travel. The only issue i had was selecting flight for him. That was his first time traveling and i found south African airways cheaper but i have read alot how most times the South African do have issues with Nigerian and i even called the customer care of the Airline but sounded rude that he needs visa but i told him the university said he will be granted on arrival. I decided to buy emirate for him and he enjoyed it to the core.

Before he left i have found a house for him, its a 1 bedroom furnished with internet and gas to my surprise i have to pay around 25K Naira monthly so i quickly pay for 6 months. I spoke with the Landlord since it was the university that suggested the house and he seems polite. My kidbro left and he was welcomed well. I dont want him to work nor look for any job so asked him to look around, buy things and evaluate how much he can spend monthly as a reasonable boy. His university already issued him Transport pass so he can take free ride home anytime and he concluded he will be more than fine with 200USD monthly....thats what i send him monthly. Ever since the only complains he has were food, he seems not to find the right food and electronics seems expensive becos i have to purchase some for him from the US.

He does not go out much nor have friends mostly at home after his skool so has never complained about racism and since he does not work or look for one he does not know about the labour market or the struggle over there. To me, i think if a student is going purely for education and he/she has a sponsor wont have any issue and the education is not bad atleast for selected programs that are somehow lacking in Nigeria.

When you have an elder brother that got your back. Well done big brother
