I've been in the Anglican Choir since 1999, and apart from singing over 600 hymns offhand, I can sing over 1000 different tunes offhand too.....this one no be child play....that you are a bishop doesn't give you the license to know more hymns than the veterans in the choir

I wonder why no-one remembered the man Charles Wesley who wrote most of the hymns we sing today....he is the brother of John Wesley who started Methodist church... To me Methodist is the church when we talk about hymns.

Bros hymns na hymns nah mostly written by onyibos many churches make use of hymn book. I was born into Methodist church and I know we sing hymns like six times every Sunday, when the ministers and choir members proceed in, before 1St , 2nd & 3rd bible readings, before main preaching, and the end of the service when the ministers and choir members match/proceed out.

I think the question should've been, how many times does your church sing hymns every Sunday. God bless the Body of Christ.

don't get it twisted all the hymns are sung by different churches, none can lay claim emphatically say na dem get the song, these hymns were written by individuals no be the church in particular

Anglicans and Methodists are more hymn oriented than other churches I know. The Baptists are a close second, followed by the Roman catholics.

I'm Anglican and I know not even marriage can take hymns away from my blood

But then, I don't see what this topic aims to achieve. Who cares which church owns what, so long as the body of Christ is united and God is gloried, we remain one family in the faith.

Check the dating of the hymns..you see most predated the Reformation...that is the western schism which birthed protestantism from the Catholic Church. Most hymns are Catholic hymns...go to Catholic monasteries and hear gregorian chants...you wud wish never to leave. Most Anglican hymns are Catholic hymns co-opted into their common prayer. You know Anglican church broke fro Catholic Church...

Bro I am Catholic and have been a choirmaster for a better part of 15 years and I ABSOLUTELY agree with u. Anglicans are the BOMB when it comes to hymnals and classicals. We dey struggle to measure up.

U are very correct here.Hymns belong to the Orthodox churches of which Anglican is the leader here.
No church got hymns like Anglican.100% sure

We no be church ohh... But no church out there has better songs than JEHOVAH's WITNESSES... I repeat no church!! our kingdom melodies are very well composed and they sound like National Anthems

Hymns are written by individuals to edify the Church.

It is the same hymns all churches sing, some churches e.g. Anglican, Baptist etc. are more hymn oriented than others just how some churches e.g. MFM, CAC are more prayer oriented.

Save for Celestial Church of Christ; ALL hymns are ABSOLUTELY different from other churches' hymns.
