Welcome! I am actually working on a Quadcopter.
It was scheduled for test run today but one of the motors failed.
I have ordered for a replacement but will post pictures of the work so far.

Sorry, people.
I was actually working on a project and planned posting pictures and steps after I get it to work.
It was a quad copter. (You'll understand why I used past tense later)
I used the following:
4pcs 2212 1000kv brushless motors.
4pcs ESCs
Kk 2.15 flight controller
Turnigy 9x Radio Transmitter and receiver (8Ch)
Zippy 3000mah 3S lipo battery.

After setting up and configuration, I went outdoors to test the quad.

1st trial crashed into a tree. Luckily, no damage was done.
The second time, it gained altitude fast.
And in a twinkle of an eye, it disappeared into the sky.

A 3-hour long search couldn't find it. I'm still searching though.

So sad!

What's your model's size? What size of motor are you looking for?
Not sure if you can get rc RX in Lagos. I usually buy from US or Singapore. You can also get them from China

I've built a radio controlled plane before and I've flown it a couple of times. It was really fun to after months of research, fly something I built with my own hands. It did come with its own set of challenges as everything I did was done manually. You can imagine cutting plywood and shaping them into several ribs (the wing profile) with just a saw and sandpaper. It was well worth it anyways. Unfortunately, we don't have open spaces around and where I used previously is not so conducive so my plane is disassembled and chilling off in my wardrobe.

Where did you order from? I usually order from hobbyking or aliexpress. Takes between two to three weeks. The hobby is quite expensive. Recall having to spend over $80 just to ship my package because it contained a pair of batteries- it was via FedEx and got it in a week. The hobby is quite exciting.

I buy from both sites too. High tech pieces like Tx/Rx and flight controllers from HK and others like props, servo leads and motors from aliexpress. Frames too..
Usually takes 3 weeks or 4 at most but has been taking much longer since after the Chinese new year.
It very difficult to get batteries now due to new regulations on transporting lipos. I ordered 3 PCs from a store in the US and shipping is free.
I have one 450-sized quad now.
Nothing beats the fun, bro. I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend!

I'm considering building either a quadcopter or helicopter but I'd prefer the Helicopter. Not quite certain which of the two will cost more. Anyways, I'll do my research.

A helicopter costs less based on materials needed.
You need only 2 motors and a servo. The design is abit trickier, I think.
I do not plan to take that on right now. Still practicing on improving my quad-flying skills..

I thought quads are not that difficult to fly anyways happy flying. Any idea on the cheapest means of getting lipos In terms of shipping? It kinda costs a fortune getting it from hobbyking.

These things can be tricky, bro. A crash can dent your wallet and dampen enthusiasm. So you gotta learn to fly them right.

I have a supplier that sends batteries from US. Shipping is free.
Let me know what you need and I'll check the cost for you.

what you should know about buy a radio transmitter is make sure the have perimeter protection sensor....
that will help your drone not to wonder of and get lost
