Egusi is a local dish in Nigeria.
Egusi is also local/African dish in NY.
Yah logic still don't apply tongue

It's of Public knowledge ad perception that Nigerian girls are called Local chicks by Nigerians in Diaspora.

An amazing fact, a girl who stays in the Rural part of Nigeria is even considered to be a local chick by a Girl who stays in the Urban part of Nigeria.

Like a girl residing in Mbano Village in Owerri, Imo State is seen mostly as a local girl by people who are resident in Ikoyi, Lagos .
Anyways, we agree to disagree

Dude companies in western world don't give their managers a driver or an accommodation like we have in Nigeria. You get those yourself from your employment package.
I don't know the kind of job his brother does that he was given a driver within two years of coming to the US, even congressmen and senators don't have chaffeur driven cars they either drive themselves or take taxi, Uber or the metro. It's only in Nigeria with our cheap labor cost that every Tom dick and Harry has a driver.

Too many obligations and demand on your time. and also unless you want to have unhappy angry children you have to keep up with the trends of their classmates so they dont get laughed at in school. you have to buy them air jordans and yeezys and designer clothes and iphones and kindle and ipads and mac-books etc etcc or else the kids will laugh at them. then all their activities. doctors appointment for shots etc etc. nanny fees if they are small, babysitter etc etc. ITS HELL BRO LOL. YOU ARE TRAPPED FOREVER. JUST SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR LIFE. YA SISTER DEY TRY BUT I AM SURE SHE NOT SHARING HER SORROWS WITH YOU THO

Also, boyfriends do not spend heavily on their girlfriends, except rich boyfriends. The spending is limited to birthday gifts and dates.
Rent/mortgage is split 50-50, especially if the renters are millennial couples.

Church services can be boring to the average Nigerian lol. One of my aunties kept ranting about how boring the White church she attends is. She would stream a Winners Chapel service whenever she comes back from church grin

Because most people actually begin with negative stories. Even myself. But most never get a chance to pursue their dreams became they just strive to survive daily.
As written in several posts here already. Beginning as a teenager as I did gave a certain leeway to later cope better: enough energy, to try to adapt, and still have time to spend donkeys years in school, while working alongside. Falling asleep in class, lab, etc sometimes.

But seeing a 39 years old man/woman planning to abandon fairly ok life in 9ja is heartbreaking.

We Africans always talk of grace & individual luck, etc. The West that we're talking about do not live their life by chance. It is concrete planning decades ahead that makes the society work. Not because each person here has three heads or spend the whole day in church. Concrete planning. Both state & individuals plan seriously.

You will never understand though. Just try it yourself first. Experience is the best teacher.

Lmao @ I will never understand. Let me tell you my story.

After loosing my job and was unemployed for a while, I had to drain my savings and got some money from my mum and I moved to the UK for my PG. At the time most people said I should have invested that money in a business but I was convinced that a degree in Software Engineering was what I needed.

When I got there I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I kept my head up worked in the evenings at M&S did Security on weekends, paying my rent and other bills. I graduated with a good grade, was top 3 in my set and from that point my movement has been forward. So my brother, I understand maybe even more than you or have you ever travelled to a sleepy town for a security job that entails working for 12 straight hours? It was tough, yes but looking back it was the best decision I made for my life.

This one is not hear say. I lived in a town with Zimbabweans and both men and women are promiscuous. The women are mostly nurses, the men miners. These people have failed marriages. Infact a Zimbabwean nurse I used to know walked out of her marriage because her husband was sleeping with another Zimbabwean woman who was married.

@OP,

Did you put up this post to be "hailed" by your likes?

For a start, before you cast the first stone, how many people have you helped to migrate?

How many immigrants have you helped to settle down in your country of residence?

How many have you helped to get a job?

How many have you shown the rope in your business?

It is always easy to throw stones at others when all evidence point to the fact that the thrower is more guilty of the accusation.

Creating a thread to encourage people to travel illegally is not only unwholesome but it is actually wickedness to the cause of the people you are championing for.
For every one successful illegal immigrant, there are hundreds of others who are unfortunate. For this type of sorry advice to come for you shows the warped mind of the average Nigerian on the street. Always willing to cut corners and never willing to do what is right, no matter how long they have lived outside the country.

To those thinking of migrating illegally, you will only make your life miserable as rules are getting tighter these days. Migrating is not difficult, you just need patience and the right place you can meet their requirements to move to.

And OP, next time you want to create a silly thread like this, you should have a convincing evidence of what you have done to help people migrate.

With all the numerous do it yourself threads in travel section for migration, you can still come up with this thrash. If people are not willing to read, they shouldn't blame anybody for their misfortune.

I doubt it because she is very intelligent, she is very brilliant, everyone in the family knows how brilliant she is, she was the best graduating Medical student in Uni zik then, I also have a close relative who happens to be a nurse, she went to UK about 8 months ago and I've always chatted her up but she said she hasn't gotten a job yet.I'm really curious.
lol. forget that brilliant thing..evaluating exams in all professions are very tough and its not for the faint hearted. I know someome personally... 1st class UI, msc dinstinction from Ontario, phd dinstinction from Ontario. yet she failed one of the evaluating exams 3 times....i dont even know what she is going to do next with her life....i believe she was just stay in academia even the pay is not good when compared to those practicing.

I'm guessing I'm being wicked and selfish by only supporting people who wish to migrate legally. If we go along with the OPs reasoning, a good way to show selflessness and generosity is to assist our fellow Nigerians to 'go abroad' using any legal or illegal means.
Yet, we blame politicians for being corrupt, I strongly believe that 99.9% of Nigerians are innately corrupt. Nigeria is a country were someone who chooses to do the right thing is viewed as abnormal, selfish, wicked. What is sad is that some Nigerians in the diaspora still have not shaken off the innate Nigerian mentality. This is why non-Nigerians perceive the average Nigerian as a potential fraudster, they posit that the only honest Nigerian is the one who hasn't found himself/herself in a position to steal and/or commit fraud.
dat ur belief dat 99.9% of nigerians being corrupt is so wrong.u are making conclusions based on op's statements.can op's beliefs be used as d standard for all nigerians.

Anybody is free to travel abroad as long as they are travelling with valid documents and for good intentions. When my company sends me on training abroad, I stay in the finest hotels and I try to catch up with friends abroad, what I have noticed is that out of 10 friends I meet perhaps only one is measuring up. The rest are struggling. Some go to work by 2am in the morning and come back by 3pm, some do two different jobs to be able to cope with house rent, and other bills that keep coming and never ending, some don't sit down throughout at their work place, they stand all through, some cannot go out to have a chilled beer and correct point and kill pepper soup. Their routine is work, sleep whenever possible, eat and church whenever their schedule permits. Some cannot return home on holidays because they dont have valid documents thats why you see some 20 years they have not seen home, those that have paper nko they can only come home once during their vacation which is usually like 2 weeks max, 'dem no born them well to stay beyond two weeks' else they are fired and before that time they will be waiting for sales period so they can buy things cheap to come and display here.

Some the work they do over there, they will never try it in Nigeria and yet they are graduates. Honestly, the life of most diasporia people is better described as glorified slavery regardless they have their permanent papers.
When we go out clubbing I end up taking up the entire bill and I am like you guys have the hard currency why should I pay but they tell me it ain't easy to come by. To crown it all the conditions some of them work is very uncomfortable, some work in below -20F temperatures, some tender old sick people with highly contagious disease, some drive UBER, some are into credit card fraud and other crimes. The few that are working in the banks or other high brow offices go through discreet racist treatment yet they cannot complain. All these things comes back to haunt them in their old ages.

So the truth be told, if and only if our leaders can make Nigeria better believe you me no Nigerian will ever prefer to stay in that cold and unacceptable treatment they tolerate.
We have the best weather, we have the best mineral resources, we have the best inland water ways. WHY WHY WHY cant we develop these things. Build a network of interconnected rail line across the country, obey laws, love the country above self, kill corruption and make the laws work irrespective of person, class or position. Provide 24 hours electricity and provide round the clock security that works, build good roads and develop infrastructures, keep our environment clean these are the things the diaspora people enjoy minus that I cant point to anything they have we don't have.

So if you have a good job here, please my sister think twice before you go there to live, of course you can travel to any country to have a good holiday and return back. No place like Naija believe me, forget about the criminals with no good intentions holding on to power thereby destroying our country and mortgaging our future. Some day someone will arise to clean the Augean stables.
We have a rich culture, why dont you ask why some of them prefer to send their kids home for good training and some when they want to marry they think home.

Our leaders are our problem and not our country, our country is blessed with the best weather, good arable land, many culture, deep belief in God and above all a hard working human resource. Our problem are the leaders who destroy this country and when they travel you see them queue up to board planes and even board trains, you see them obey traffic light and queue up at shopping malls to pay.
They are wicked, they are the enemies of this great country, they must be stoned to death anywhere they are found.
