Is There No Man Of The People?

As a youth Corper, I had the opportunity of observing the primaries for Chancellor Elections in my PPA from a position closer than the sidelines.
As I watched the 'chosen one' being hefted on shoulders, amid the beating of drums and shouting and dancing, from both men and women, old and young, married and single, everyone in the community had turned up to support and celebrate their representative, he had been chosen to represent.

Sadly from my interaction with the young 'honourable' I couldn't see that drive, that ironwill to serve instead it felt like he was being forced into the position.

looking at our Nation today, I love my Country and I have dreams I would like to see become reality and I know there are many like me but sadly the truth is that we all go to school, study hard, work hard all with the hope of being successful and becoming something in life..the irony is we channel all our best and productive juices towards living a successful life without caring about the Country we are supposed to 'live' the successful life.

If you look at great men of the past, men of history, from Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Freddie Hampton, what separates these men from the rest...what separates them from our 'heroes' of the past?
They had a vision like we all do but they worked towards it, Marcus had a vision of reuniting African Americans to their African roots, Freddie Hampton and Huey P. Newton had visions to stand up for their black brothers being brutalised by the police and they formed the black panther movement.
They acted! They did something! They started from somewhere!

To the youths in the house...stop wailing, stop complaining manna is not going to fall from heaven, if you are unhappy with the way things are going, then it is time to act, start from scratch but work your way towards what you want for your Country..We need youthful leaders and how will that happen while we youths are still complaining and wailing while the over aged leaders who obviously can't keep up with the demands keep on leading?

If you are forming activist, an activist without activities, is that one an activist?

Its time to wake up, start doing something no matter how small, one tree can't make up a forest, but at a time a forest started with just a tree.

2019 is almost upon us and it's still looking like the same old story.

Is there no man of the people out there? The time is long overdue but it is never too late.

I'm a man of the people and in whatever way I can I am going to make a difference!
