UrennaNkoli: I followed it from the beginning and you also dished out your own fair share of insults. Look at your language in the above quoted, I guess you were complimenting typing "don't be stupid" and BTW, I did not open that mouth of mine, I actually typed my comment |

UrennaNkoli:Okay first off, I apologize for the insulting tone I jumped on your comment with, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it regardless of what anyone else thinks. As regards to what he achieved. He had a career, he became an icon, his name is remembered, his face is globally recognized, teams he played for will never forget him. George Weah won medals and got the highest accolade the game has to offer, but guess who I and countless others would have paid to watch play in their hey days...JJ Okocha! Sure medals are important, but the entertainment value of the game, that's why we watch and that's what the man provided. Mikel Obi has won trophies, but how many of his highlight reels would you proudly share...Okocha created moments of magic over and over again both for the national team and at the clubs he played for and if didnt achieve anything I am sure we wouldn't be here wasting our time arguing over a non-achiever |

nurext: Thanks bro, dont mind all this indomie generation of football fans that were still in Diapers when Jay Jay came into lime light during the Mauritius 93 u20 championship and dazzled everyone and caught the eyes of Westerhof who invited him to the USA qualifiers. i cant still vividly remember the Free kick he scored in the 4-1 drubbing against Algeria at the National stadium in Surulere. Or talk about his exploit at Tunisia 94 & USA 94 especially the finals of AFCON. Or the yeoman job he did against England friendly that Nigeria lost 1-0 but the English tabloids made mockery of the England squad that they lost to Nigeria. we got the friendly courtesy of our performance in USA 94 that england failed to qualify. Go back to Atlanta 96 and see how he stole the show even against the likes of Ronaldo delima, Bebeto, rivaldo, carlos, aldair, Diego simone(Athletico coach), ayala, crespo, zanetti, sensini, ortega etc. Fast forward to France 98, and watch Luis enrique (barca coach) intentionally kicking JayJay in our first match cos he was a complete manace in the midfield despite the presence of Hiero, campo, sergi etc. Or his exploit in Afcon 2000, 2002,2004. Austin Jay jay Okocha surpasses Kanu 10x when it comes to his contribution to the national team. The kids of nowadays need to get off football of yesteryears and focus on their Messi Ronaldo comparison despite being incomparable cos of their talent and style of play. I wonder who they will choose between Zidane and Ronaldinho, or henry and Ronaldo Delima, or Figo and Rivaldo or shevshenko & batistuta. I feel pity for them cos they never witnessed the peak of football when many talents were on display across the top 5 leagues in Europe. When u cant tell who the next world palyer would be. Its a torture to watch just two players breaking records year in year out and monopolizing the UCL for the last 8 years. 1 Like |

Tokziby:are all of the players mentioned above attacking players? |
Re: Jay Jay Okocha And Diego Maradona At 67th FIFA Congress (Photo) by Tokziby: 4:02pm On May 11, 2017 |
boffinjay: u can do a little research about them, they are either strikers or attacking midfielders that can single handedly destroy a team but they never starred for great clubs except Saviola that had a short stint with Barcelona and real madrid but was unsuccessful cos of the stars available in the teams at that time. Paolo Dicanio was one of the best attacking midfielder in EPL but was playing for westham, frank lampard learned under him. His impact was like tevez and Alonso playing for westham. I guess u know what they achieved when the were both picked up by man.u and liverpool respectively. Matt Le tissier was a southampton legend and one of the most skillful English player in EPL of all time, first midfielder to hit 100 goals and Penalty kick master only missed one penalty in his career. He was a one man club and hence didnt win any laurel. Ariel Ortega hahahah that turned the life of the eagles around in 2002, and was also a jewel to watch in france 98. that little magician that people thought he would become the next maradona, however he never enjoyed his playing career in Europe cos of the clubs he was playing for and had to return to Argentina where he won laurels. Jan Kholler is about the tallest striker in the world that played for Dortmund and some smaller clubs in belgium and Czech. i think he only won one Bundesliga title and also in anderlecht but was the czech all time scorer, if he had played for bigger clubs then maybe he'd acheived bigger things. There are several other players like that never really achieved up to their potentials despite their great abilities. All i'm trying to say is that, football is luck and not every good players are lucky to play for great clubs. |

iyeyemi:You said moments of magic? Moments of magic that were all about flip flaps, moments of magic that were all side step overs? Okocha was a skillful player but he wasn't a good player. Footballers like lampard, zidane, figo, gerrard, david beck were all good but they weren't as skillful and thats why you can never compare okocha to them, its a taboo. Ask yourself why he found it difficult to even win the african best ? because football pundits were frustrated with his unnecessary style of play. On a serious note, if you were to be a coach and you were offered okocha in his prime and frank lampard in his prime who would you go for? Okacha was far skillful than zidane, figo, lampard, roy keane, didi and jose pirri all combined together but does it mean he was better than any of them? Or would you pick okocha over any of them as a coach? Being good is what makes a good footballer not coming to the pitch to show us dance steps and elasticos. They used to say okocha tried to spit out saliva to dribble a player dont know how true that is. Is that what we call football? Also , you people should stop saying jay jay taught ronaldinho how to play football. I hate to hear that rubbish. Dinho was a thorough bred footballer from the streets of brasil. It must have been the inventor of the India 99-0 Nigeria that invented that lie for you people too @ tokziby, you are still a child yet to be weaned? Okocha scored a goal at surulere national stadium and you call that enough to make him great? Nigerians have really destroyed the name of football. Tell us what he has done at any grand stage the world will remember him for. Kanu did his at atlanta '96. He made a name in the great Ajax amsterdam of that time, he helped them win the UCL. He can to arsenal, despite not being a regular starter because of the likes of thierry, he is still considered a legend of arsenal. Please don't ever say jay jay was 10* better, thats a taboo that must never be heard. If you know zero about soccer, just keep quiet rather than saying nonsense |

http://dailypost.ng/2017/05/10/jay-jay-okocha-no-10-ever-admired-ronaldinho/ Dont know about him 'teaching Dinho, but even the great man recognizes greatness. But as usual, we Nigerians always sleep on our own legends. I think I will take Ronaldinho's assessment since he actually played the game at the highest level. UrennaNkoli: |

iyeyemi:The fact that he admired his style of play doesnt mean he taught him. Zidane once said steven G was the greatest midfielder in the world meaning he definitely loved his football. Does that mean steven G schooled him on how to play football? Nigerians sha. |

UrennaNkoli: Its either u didnt read my comment or u are just a troll that loves to throw jibes at people that has a contrary opinion. And i never said that was jay jay only goal for the eagles, he plays from the midfield and has scored more goals than Kanu the striker in the super eagles. Aside from Atlanta 96 moment which jay jay, Amunike, Amokachi were also instrumental to the success of the team except u didnt watch it, what other memory of him did know remember in the national team?? he doesnt even have a goal to his name in the Afcon. kanu is a good player no doubt but cannot be compared to the midfield maestro in the national team. Do u have memory of any world cup that kanu performed or nations cup? Kanu was lucky to be fielded by big clubs just like mikel that won laurels doesnt mean he is better than Jay Jay. Mikel Ballack is a player that never won any European club or international competition does not mean Thomas Mueller is better than him. The mistake u guys make this days is that u judge players based on laurels and not by their contribution to the game. its like saying Mikel obi is better than steven Gerrard as he has won every trophy available in England and Europe. |

My last response just pointed out that this is not about him teaching Dinho. At this point I think I am done dragging this bit...JJ Okocha is a legend of the game...even legends of the game acknowledge that fact. Is he overrated? Depends on what side of the game u choose to look at, but medals or no medals, he played his way into the hearts of millions of adoring football fans and at the end of the day that's where the real trophies come from UrennaNkoli: |
