OP, thanks for posting this information. It usually pains me to see how disappointed one will be after finishing NYSC and seeing that there is nothing on ground to do. I have talked about this in various fora about why NYSC members should take their future in their hands now. You can't afford to wait for the government or for tides to just turn. You have to be aggressive about it, pursue it or else, one will be counting years of not doing anything worthwhile. This isn't how it should be but we are unfortunate to have bad leaders in Nigeria who doesnt care if citizens survive or not. I am posting some of the threads here that can be beneficial one way or the other; if you are thinking of business ideas, I have a thread for that on nairaland. If it is about travelling abroad for further studies, I have a thread for that as well. My own is during the service year try to key into the SAED programme and learn a skill that you are of interest and ensure you know it well so you can stand on your own. That doesn't stop you to be on lookout in applying for many jobs as well. But if you really love the skill you will learn, you will not even like working for anybody again but develop yourself on the skill. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Applied för different jobs and scholarships before finishing Nysc. Am to write a test tomorrow. Even a proprietor around my area asked for my CV, in few weeks time I will start teaching and still applying for jobs. I can just stay at home like that. Am allergic to stay at home |

The truth is there are limited jobs available,I finished service last year,I have been searching ,the job you can easily get is teaching and i don't think you can get upto 30k As salary in some schools,and they will use the hell out of you,As for me,I have made up my mind to go and learn a skill,I am going into Laptop repair,then continue with my online businesses.Hopefully very soon I will be a boss on my own,this is the most difficult period of life,post NYSC,please if you have been staying at home,make up your mind to learn something,humble yourself and forget about your grade. 1 Like |

I considered 4 years in the Universities as a waste of precious time, Nysc is another waste of precious time, i don't even understand why i would waste 4;years then I would go and waste another 1yearc again. When I can do alot in 1 Year. 1 Like |

We just ain't getting it right as graduates, we lack creativity and innovation. As the country is so hard and difficult, I haven't seen graduates, two or more discussing a business Idea, every one wants to be a boss right there in poverty. If only students could put heads together, reason out something, join resources together for a particular achievement. I have since resolved to slap anyone who comes to to me 10 or 15 ways to getting a job. Paid jobs are the clean pathway to eternal poverty, I read about people who got sacked two or one week to their wedding day, I keep wonderinghow their condition would be from such disaster. Think of it my fellow Nigeria graduates, every year, about 5000 students graduate, are there really up to 50 companies created in a year in this country, so how and where do we want to be employed at?? Let's us think, if you have little money and no idea, look for someone with idea so both of you can collaborate, forget about the gain and look into the future. 2 Likes |
