how do you assess Manchester United's season in terms of the now and next campaign's projections?
and Is this a successful season, ok season or failed one?

Lol. Share duties with Luke who? The Luke Shaw that's spent more days injured than Jones? The injury prone Shaw that can't stay match fit for a month? LMFAO. We might as well play with Jackson all through the season then. People are moving forward with quality full-backs and you want us to face teams with Jackson and player who's spent more time in the sickbay than on the pitch. Okay na. grin
Robin van Persie had injury problems for the better part of five seasons, he still had his moments. Don't be quick to forget that Luke Shaw played 37 games in the league and got in the EPL team of that season at ~18 before he joined Manchester United. I am not opposed to quality but there can't be that large number of signings you envisage over the summer. Some players let go by Loius van Gaal are yet to be replaced, not even adding those let go by Jose Mourinho already.
Youth must fill in at some point.

I see it as a below average season, the only thing that can stop it from being a total failure is getting into the CL next season

Every top team goes into the season hoping to win 1 the CL, 2 the league and a distant 3rd the FA cup.

Carling cup and Charity shield are worthless tournaments which until recently managers just treat as a glorified friendly ad field their youth team I even remember Ferguson pulling out of the FA cup and to be honest with you I didnt even know there was a tournament called Worthinton, Carling, Milk or whatever cup till around 1997 while I have known the league CL and FA cup way before

The CL you didnt participate, League you are 6th that is your second worst league position in probably 25yrs, FA cup while very scant consolation you are out. That is after spending a lot and assembling one of the most expensive team in history

As at today I will rank Man Utd season around 30% winning the Europa will move it to 40%

Next season I dont like Mourinho, but I think a lot of the buck stops with him and his tactics. Its vomit inducing for Man utd to be bunkering against sides who dont cost totally the price of Pogba. In football you need to dominate the opponent if you are superior, negative tactics are only acceptable if you are significantly inferior talent wise. There were times Fergusons team didnt have superior talents but they went with believe. JS Park, OShea, Brown, GNeville, Fabio, Rafael arent exceptional talents but when they enter the field especially in the league, every opponent will be praying to minimize the scoreline

Lets look at top clubs and point this season vs last season as at today

Chelsea Last season 50 points this season 90 points increase of 40 points
Spurs Last season 70 points this season 83 points increase of 13 points
Liverpool Last season 60 points This season 73 points increase of 13 points
Arsenal Last season 71 points this season 72 points increase of 1 point
City Last season 66 points This season 75 points increase of 9 points
United Last season 66 points this season 66 points increase of 0 zero after all that spending

Man utd current team is good enough to play good football, the coach is holding them back

Be safe in Adamawa Lana1, you should have registered early so you can choose better states, I registered on the first day, I picked FCT, Kebbi, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom.

I was given Ebonyi.

May we all have a successful service year to our fatherland.

Consumed by hatred and fear. Last year when all we achieved was an FA cup win, we still celebrated not to talk of a year where an efl cup is in the bag and in an European final.

Lol! Herrera a SHIT player according to some canopy analyst on this forum won the POTY.

Those who voted for him to win it must be blind to see that he's a SHIT player.

The Poole that one was suggesting to play as our DM wasn't even shotlisted for anything not to talk of winning a spoon. Lol!

If some people on this forum are given the opportunity to coach this our team, i swear they'll relegate this team to League two with the type of players they'll be using.

Who won the player of the year, Valencia or Herrera? I thought we used to have one player of the year which is voted by Manchester United players (for the best player).

If it is Herrera who won it, good, but it should be Valencia. He was our most outstanding player, mostly after winning 3 players of the month awards.

VALENCIA VOTED STAR MAN BY UNITED PLAYERS

18/05/2017
Antonio Valencia's consistently solid performances at right-back for Manchester United during 2016/17 have earned him the Players' Player of the Year award.

The Ecuador international was the top pick among his team-mates in the dressing room after an impressive campaign in which he won three Player of the Month awards from fans voting on ManUtd.com. One of only five players to make at least 40 starts during the season, he captained the side in both legs of this month's Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo and could be a key player in the Stockholm final.

On picking up the accolade at Thursday's awards ceremony, Valencia said: "It's all about working hard. I'm very grateful for the words of the manager, the support of the fans and obviously on this occasion the support of my team-mates. I'm very grateful to all of them, especially Marouane!"

The 2015/16 winner of the squad's own accolade, Chris Smalling, told MUTV he had voted for Antonio this year and explained the reasons why.

"I think Antonio has been so consistent, at times he's been our outlet, whether he's been playing at right-back or on the right wing," said Smalling. "He's been so dependable as well, not just in an attacking sense, but also when he's been defending. Any winger or striker that comes up against him has to get around him. That means they have to be stronger or quicker than him, and neither of those is easy!"

Valencia previously won the Players' Player of the Year award in 2011/12 when he was also voted the star man by the supporters and scooped the Goal of the Season prize.

He said we are in the Europa final which is just the simple fact. He didn't say we already won it or we were going to win it. So how is what he said "counting his chicks??"

I understand it now

Valencia won the one voted by players.

Herrera won the one voted by fans.

I thought it used to be just one voted by players. That is how I have understood it over the years. It has always been Players' Player of the year.

Anyway, both are our players.

Both are our players but the one won by Herrera which is the Matt Busby Player of the Year award is the ultimate. It is the same trophy won that's been by De Gea in the past three season or thereabout. Also won by CR7, Nistlerooy etc.

The Matt Busby Award was established in 1988 as MUFC Members Player of the Year award but was renamed Matt Busby Player of the Year award after Matt Busby in 1996.

I know this, but it used to be the one voted by players that is the ultimate- sir Busby. Why a shift of the goalpost?

Valencia won it in 2011, DeGea last three years with players votes used
