Honestly, I wouldn't go to the embassy with this university. It's a one building school and according to wikipedia, it's not accredited. Maybe that's old information sha, but I do not see how you can convince the VO that you are leaving your country to spend all that money on a school that is accredited.

I wasnt brave enough to type this ...........also because in some cases I have seen the VO give here some of these schools. However i feel sad that someone will spend all that heavy naira for an unaccredited one building. Especially when their hope is that it will open up doors to good jobs in America . It might but much more difficult

Some people genuinely dont know how bad some schools are "for an international student life after school prospect " ......... but if you do your research well you can tell what kind of school it is.

Journey of a year comes to an end today. Its all been GOD. Today, GOD was evident, He showed me mercy and I now know its not by how prepared you are, you just have to have faith in GOD and believe.
Last night I knelt down on my knees and prayed to GOD to show me mercy that I should be favoured. Na so I reach embassy and waited along with many other people. na so one lady come separate NIV from IV. Passed through all necessary checks and finger printing and I stayed in the queue waiting for VO's to come. Na so window 3 open and one chinese guy call say his window is now available. I be wan enter window 7 becos the vo there just approved one guy. Very jovial VO. but na so dem usher me make I go window 3 chai.
na so I stand infront of the chinesse VO who shouldn't be more than 34.

VO: Good morning how are you?
me: Good morning, Iam fine and you?
VO: Iam great pls pass ur documents.
Me: slides passport and i20 to his window.
VO: typing.. What is bringing you to the US?
Me: Iam going to the US for my undergraduate degree in molecular and cellular biology which I will be studying at the university of maine for a duration of 48 months
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
me : I applied to 4 schools.
VO: name them
Me: ETSU, Umaine, Boston Uni and OSU( I said all in full tho)
VO: Of all these schools why did u pick Umaine.

" I chose umaine because I discovered it offers top notch undergraduate mentorship programs and I had the chance to speak with some professors there and I found out that they are well experienced( I just weak as I talk this one.. becos I never in this world envisaged that i would say this lol and the VO's face was so straight, no smiling at all.

VO: did you do SAT?
me: no but I did the TOEFL.
VO: Did you do SAT? (he repeated)
Me: no but I did the toefl(I said again)
Vo: Why didn't you do SAT?
me: my school did not require me to write SAT.
na so the guy just dey type. He suddenly kept my passport and returned my i20. and he said
"Pick up your passport 3 days time and safe trip"
Me: thank you.

This could only be grace and favour. I just couldn't believe it after starting off so poor.

I just like as that VO pointed out the research thingy, so that others will know that scope is under-watch. Others going now should know that even a research program for undergraduate is not really convincing for VO's now so they must do some good research and come up with better plan to answer that question. Cos if you weren't that prepared you would have been bounced and that your second reply was cool I've seen a similar response from older transcripts. Enjoy your new sojourn

one guy was trying to call Twoods on pages back to come and see big lie that someone is going for undergraduate and doing research they over powered him and he was directed to the school website claiming he knows ntn just because the professor of your faculty is having a research doesn't mean you are now entitled to say you are part of it as an undergraduate sef .. abi your contribution na to dey ask question for class or they bring coffee and paper? lol make una park well.if not very soon they'll start saying they are next of kin of their professors they'll take over his position when he retires

I think what they are trying to say is majority of Undergrad will not follow the research path but go to class and read for exam finish. Even many master students will never do any research thing.....

i feel na the VO start am self because some ask what your research topic when the reality is most applicants even the ones in research line will not know that at the time of Visa Application. ...but hey if it helps you sound intelligent and well researched people now say something.

However undegrad as a feedback there many other reasons why you choose a school so maybe they should focus on those other reasons

the research for undergraduate is more like an enhancement from what I've seen (talking about hands on) not the one the grads do which I believe is what the undergrads think it is and the vo knows it's not . so if you try to explain that to them it means you don't know or understand what you're talking about
