Looks like someone has received some form of 'protection' from somewhere. |

ephi321:Huge sigh! Even though you have failed to disprove what I said, I shall however apologize if you feel my position is supremacist and condescending to the igbo tribe. I never set out to insult the tribe, I only thought I was saying the truth;which is widely held in yorubaland. |

ephi321:On a second thought, I find it very strange that you have raised umbrage over a sentiment that is widespread in yorubaland. We really don't see it as a big deal here because we know the problems that the Igbos face at home in the form of the erosion menace threatening the environment over there and the recent cries of Federal Government neglect by the SE has sensitized the Yoruba populace of the state of things in the SE hence the hospitality and warmth shown to the Igbos over the years. Take it easy dear, it is not as bad as you make it seem. |

This write-up lacks substance and devoid of logical thinking. Not unexpected from the OP, though. Creating an unnecessary and baseless assumption about 2019 with respect to Prof Osinbajo, obviously,an illusion. You need to figure out the Political atmosphere. As much as I'm confident that nothing of such will happen (since the VP is smarter and wont make such a political error) the OP clearly illustrated how divisive we could continue to be. |
| Re: A Credible Northerner, Not Osinbajo Should Succeed Buhari In 2019 by omohayek: 6:57pm On Jun 02, 2017 |
ephi321:My thoughts exactly. Nearly every contributor to this thread, from the OP onward, seems to have been so heavily afflicted with tribalism as to be utterly incapable of logical thinking. Of what use is a President coming from any particular region if the person doesn't know what he's doing? How has Buhari made life better for the average person in his own native NW region? Is tribalistic pride in a President's ethnicity going to put food on anybody's table, give them better roads, provide them with decent and affordable hospitals, or put their children in better schools? Instead of demanding candidates who advocate sensible policies that will lead to faster economic growth and higher FDI, so many cretins are on here going on about how it's the turn of one region or another, when what they're really talking about is how politicians from particular regions are using the same old appeals to tribalism to jostle for their chance to steal from the government till: it's simply nonsense to say "the north", "the SW" or "the SE" wants something or other, when it's actually small coteries of politicians from such regions who are doing the wanting. Nigeria has had 56 years of such elite manipulations, with virtually no economic development to show for it, but the very victims of such mismanagement are on here clamoring for more of the same! I've said it before, but the Nigerian masses have no one else to blame for their predicament but themselves, for getting the abysmal levels of "leadership" they deserve for their idiotic tribalism. |

HiddenShadow:I am not begging for one Nigeria (and to be honest after Hausaland, Iboland will make for the least viable independent country. It is too smal, you are too many, you have no resources and few corporations. There is elite discord and destructive individualism.) That aside, my point is that anybody can become president including Ibo if he is qualified. |

TonyeBarcanista:But how come you conveniently omitted the periods of Gowon, Murtala, Shagari, Ekwueme as VP, Buhari's first coming, IBB and Abdusalaam if not for mischieve ? Are we to regard their era as not part of Nigeria history ? Assuming that Osinbajo has his eyes on 2019 in case Buhari cannot contest, what on earth is wrong with that ? We know for sure he can never contest against Buhari. His own Yoruba stock will not even support him anyway. He was put in that office by providence and if the same phenomenon choses to push him to the presidency, nothing can be done. Are we not tired of northern leadership already ? I suspect you were making a subtle campaign for a northerner. |

| Re: A Credible Northerner, Not Osinbajo Should Succeed Buhari In 2019 by TonyeBarcanista(op): 8:46pm On Jun 02, 2017 |
DLioness:I don't agree. Having ruled the country for 13/years out of 18 years since the return of democracy, it will not be fair for the South to lead in 2019. A North/SE 2019 ticket and SE/North 2023/2027 Presidency is very fair and give everyone sense of belonging. The SW and SS must chill for a couple of years. |
| Re: A Credible Northerner, Not Osinbajo Should Succeed Buhari In 2019 by Maduawuchukwu(m): 8:51pm On Jun 02, 2017 |
Elections are about competence and national integration, afterall democracy is a conflict resolution mechanism. If you can find a candidate who is qualified and who is from a region whose ascendancy will help national integration then by all means choose him. Obasanjo is already talking of Igbo presidency and he met with Peter Obi some weeks ago. Something tells me the great nationalist is cooking some "nationalistic" plot. ![]() |

TonyeBarcanista:Anybody opposing Northern candidacy in 2019 is not realistic. We should choose from the many nationalistic elements in the north who are also competent. Atiku, Dankwambo, Sule Lamido etc. Dem plenty so there is no excuse. |
