I believe in the end, as long as you get the positive assessment and eventually get the 189, you can do anything, yeah? so in theory, it shouldnt matter what you get assessed as...at least this is how I have always seen it...and I hope I am right, cos na finance jobs I dey aim for as I dey so, despite professional enginer assessment...pls advise if you have any additional knowledge on this issue.

Wondering why you didn't assess as Telecom Network Engineer since you have equivalent degree

I have written PTE, IELTS General and academic (multiple visa apps and tests written in error) I have been fortunate enough to get superior english assessment for all the tests at the first instance. in my opinion, IELTS is actually easier than PTE, but not in terms of content, but exam structure. One can lose his way very easily in a PTE exam if youre not switched on for 100% of the time. you need to concentrate in your IELTS too, but it is easier to do so in IELTS cos it is a more conventional exam environment, unlike PTE test conditions. AT least, na so I see am sha...

If EA say B, who are we to Say Q.

Kindly adhere to EA guidelines.

which is easier is debatable, however most people here lean towards PTE

Yeah, you can work in any field when you land Aussie. But before then, you can only submit EOI for an occupation you've secured a positive assessment for, so one needs to be very careful at this stage particularly if they have multiple occupational options. If you mistakenly choose a pro-rata, flagged or Indian infested occupation when you don't necessarily have to...........na OYO you dey o!

A friend read computer engineering and assessed as electronic engineer despite having close to 2 decades of mainstream telecoms experience. Now he couldn't wait for electronic long queue ( with a low score) and contemplating another assessment to nominate telecoms network engineer. No one wants to get caught up in such avoidable situation.

As per your submission above, you don't necessarily have to come here only when you need info, you might also want to consider coming around to render help too in your own little way. Many here have long got their Palli but still come around to help others.

Well, I can't be sure of whether cdr has been read or not. But one can discern that your documents are being assessed, so for the now keep hope alive.
When did you apply and which occupation did you nominate?

If you have provided what was requested as well as explanation for grey areas, then worry not. It turned out most of us subjected ourselves to needless worries.

Hello House

So here is my final option

BSc - 15 Points
Age - 25 points
**wouldn't turn 25 until December 2018**
English --- 20 points ** awaiting result.

Done assessment for Developer Programmer with ACS and got +ve assessment.

Now I've been told I'll beed 65 points to scale through at EOI.

Question: What is/are my chance(s) of getting state nomination to add up to my potential 60 points as I can not afford to wait till December 2018 to get additional 5 point via age.

Thanks

Well 65pts is for the concluded year... HOPEFULLY it may drop to 60 for the new year.

That being said, partner points (5) is available. Pls note partner is not only married people...there is A de facto relationship status which is acceptable

You can equally look at visa 190 which gives you 5 pts..

Does the new year start in 1st July ?

And how can I know if the points were dropped to 60* or stayed at 65*

I'll think about this later and see it as last option as I don't want anything to complicate my life in the near future

Please can you briefly tell me the difference between the 190 and 189.

DIBP might need to find a way to balance up ITA in those fields.........it's currently too disproportionate.

Yes, the new migration year starts by July 1st and end by June 30th

Stick to this thread and you will be informed of current points or always check invitation round result on DIBP.

Summary of 189 vs 190

190 is a sponsored VISA where a sponsorship from a State or a Territory Government is required. Should you be granted a VISA under this subclass there are obligations to undertake, such as that candidate needs to live and work for minimum of two years in the nominating state and to participate in surveys conducted by the state and so forth.

189 is an independent VISA where the candidate does not need sponsorship, and if the candidate is granted a VISA under 189, they can live and work anywhere in Australia

Environmental scientists are only sponsored by Northern Territory and Tasmania. Nobody knows if it will be on the list for long. However, environmental science is not a bad profession as there are lot of jobs in the field especially in asbestos management.

If you are an engineer, environmental engineering would be a better course to study as it is still available for 189 although flagged.

Cities you may be considering Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
