If it's a taboo to make guest queue before entry then I am sad to say the security of the organizers is lacking.
Club (cocobar) that we go to buy drinks for ridiculous prices, and get turned down by ugly ladies, despite our money and fallen ego, we still have to queue.
Orderliness and security surpasses pleasing your guests. This is convocation and not lecture attendees. Please understand

OK o...I know you work for Babcock. Biko direct your plea for understanding to the appropriate quarters. I'm no where close to being your direct or indirect customer... I don finish school and I never born tongue

First, the op should give us the full story of why the relatives were told to queue up. Only after this can anyone judge rightly on if it was reasonable or not. What if that was the only sensible way to maintain orderliness in that particular scenario? Abi did they tell u that queueing is only meant for children?
You dey mind d yeye OP? How sure are we dt was even Babcock? Then, why wasn't he detailed abt what led to d queuing? I dont want to preempt, but dt may be for security check

the rich parents were not complaining but the poor ones are here on nairalander to complain over something that has nothing to do with them.
the first question you should ask before complaining on their behalf is, what could be the reason behind the queue? it'sā€‹ probably, if not certain, has to do with security screening to ensure that no one with evil intention gain access into the venue to disrupt the activity. if this is true, which reasonable parent, considering the security situation in Nigeria will find it difficult to understand that what is being done is best in his/her interest? except the poor in brain and pocket.
your point

I see no big deal in this. Even in Unilag, on convocation mornings, you will typically see a queue of parents, and graduating folks trying to get into the Multi purpose hall for the ceremony. I believe it's the same thing that is happening here.

So this is currently happening in Babcock!

Parents are being forced queue to attend their children's graduation ceremony in Babcock University, after paying N5M for school fees.

The comments on this thread is an indication of how far away we are from civilization. So queueing up to enter a graduation venue is now humiliation?

This is pathetic

It's not about passing Jamb or not. I had 251 in Jamb (2010). I got admitted into CU to study Accounting.... never thought of attending a public institution in my life regardless of my Jamb score. I also had my Masters degree in Covenant University.

I feel it's all about choice... not about passing jamb or not. There are some environments you expect people from wealthy backgrounds to be. *no offence though

Although I'm planning on doing a phd programme at Unilag because it's close to my work place...I wudda done it at Babcock or CU if it was convinient.... soo it's a bout choice.

.....Let's just drop hatred and inferiority complex and let's make Nigeria a place to be. forget about your background or ur school....we are all 1.

They snap at any opportunity against private Unis... it doesn't come as a surprise though since inferiority complex is a popular trait among impoverished people.

You are speaking to a graduate of the university of Greenwich, England (BSc), Msc at Glasgow Caledonian university, Scotland. So I know what I am saying. To receive your award despite your millions on tuitions, you still have to QUEUE.

Your parents queued to enter the school too?

Neither is it a school for dullards... just saying.. the reason for the queue is for security reason..
O lord open the heart of naija to better possibilities. To enter and exit the biggest stadium in the world with its attendant security check is just 7 minutes. If u can't rationalize time and keep making it a feature of all your design scope.that project is designed for failure. What ever the reason it's a no no.public event places the venue are already opened 24 hours before schedule of events.

Have you ever seen one who got admission on merit in a fed uni jettisoning it for any of these glorified sec schools? Never!

So because they pay 5M they go barge into the venue like some uncultured Apes? Have you wondered if this was done to make the process orderly, cultured and civilized. An average Nigerian is very rash and impatient, so for you to see this means the people involved are understanding and get the idea of what's going on.

Typical Nigerians who think because he pay a bus fee deserve to sit on one seat and place his bags on the other.
don't mind them. we have a thousand years to get it right here with the crop of people Nigeria has and the way they reason
