Mustay:Did the OP say his former teacher didn't meet the requirements? Who on earth wouldn't pick his teacher for a job? He helped mold into your present person. If you say your teacher is not qualified, then you're indirectly telling the company that you're not qualified too. In fact, among the applicants, he's the only one he could vouch for and does not have to ask that boring question of "tell us about yourself" by most interviewers. What do you think the company would say if he picked another candidate and the candidate failed? It will also rub off on him. So, there's even a justification for him to pick his teacher and take the blame when he fails than take same blame for people who have not "imparted" in his life. What happens to the spirit of "take a bow and go"? |

yemi2plus:Partiality is always allowed in every gathering you can't treat people the same way! If you were to be a lecturer marking ur child's final year exam and he/she scores 39 would you add one mark or not? If it were to be a neutral person u wouldn't care! Such is life bro. Do you know we aren't even the same in d hands of God? A mistake from Moses and he didn't get to promise land but after a lot of atrocities committed by David, God still called him a man after his own heart! We all pray for this kind of encounter everyday. Take it or leave it. |

manson5011:Before anything else, remove traces of your privacy from this faceless forum, if your boss or anyone who knows about this gets to read what you have here, you might be jeopardising his chances (Your ex teacher), and yours (For being sentimental and ultimately affecting the organisation's process of getting best hands) You even have your picture as DP, who does that? |

You have no conscience, you are heartless to delete every Nigerian application that came to your table just because they are Nigerians, you must be proud of yourself. What goes around comes around, you won't be in that position forever. The Good Lord WILL Remember All the deleted applications from your table and those applicants WILL laugh last in Jesus Almighty Name. Shame on you. TWoods: |

Different strokes for different folks. With-hold not good from another when it's in your power to do so. If you ask me, i will do same as OP considering the fact that he is qualified coupled with his wealth of experience too. You can call it sentiments, Nepotism, Man know Man or whatever but to me, it is no big deal. GRAMERCY |

Mustay:MY BROTHA, YOU ARE RIGHT. I EVEN VOTED IN FAVOUR OF WHAT THE GUY DID. But if we look at it objectively, it points to the issue of corruption in society. Sentimentality is a huge factor in corruption, especially when it comes to relatives, friends etc getting undeserved favours. The 500 likes for what the guy did, shows we have serious problems in this country in terms of our attitudes to probity and professional integrity, so vital to catapaulting the nation to the next level. I think the best we can hope for is a reduction in corruption, not an elimination. Not with our mindset. |

manson5011:In a very professional environment it is called conflict of interest(COI). it sounds as though you have done him a favor because you have not used the employment criteria to employ but have used "KNOW ME I KNOW YOU" methods which is out-rightly unprofessional. however, he might be the most qualified based on your judgement of past experience ET AL, but hope your decision today wont come to hurt you later in your work life at that same company because humans(Nigerians) are very funny sometimes i would only say watch your back |

Mustay:thank you, wrong seems to now be the genaral norm. The worse part is they are even using religion as a justification. We are now so used to it that it has now become the new RIGHT, Just imagine the likes those kind of comments had, it show that the "man know man " syndrome has twisted our mind sets that even in the face of clear nepotism we still drag God into it. Its a pathetic as situation, to think this are the people clamouring to take over from old polithiefians when even their own orientation is faulty |
| Re: How I Interviewed My Secondary School Teacher For A Job Of 48k. by kaboninc(m): 6:35am On Jun 08, 2017 |
Mustay:I completely agree with you. It's such a big shame our society is consciously and gradually accepting corruption as norm and even more pitiful is this acceptance by a large percentage of today's youth who'd someday become leaders in the future. This is one of the reasons I dropped religion because it affects our judgement and reasoning. Now a young lad goes to write Jamb, cheated, knowing fully well that he cheated would come to the alter to ask God for unmerited favor. Results comes out, he's successful and would tell everyone who cares to listen that God has answered his prayers... Really? That's an example of the OP. |

In western world it is hard to get a job in the police department, fire department, government offices, etc - they are families, relatives, friends and neighbors. If you label what our friend did as corruption - it means you don't know the definition of corruption. Rossikki: |

Godfidence:I will fail her, if she deserves to fail. Be it my daughter, my father, my mother my sister, my gf, my best friend, whoever deserves to fail, I'll fail, especially when there's a sound reason to do so. And there's no apology for that. Sometimes these things are done to strengthen you. To make you go the extra mile. To make you work harder and smarter. |

I just have one simple question to put out there; If my Uncle is in a public position where he can influence recruitment, and he ends up giving all his nephews and nieces a job appointment; 1.we are qualified and 2. He knows our abilities. Now to those of you out there who applied and didn't get a fair chance to contest for that same job, how Would you feel? Please if you answer this honestly, then case closed! Divine arrangement right? Well pray you are not on the opposite side of that "arrangement" one day. Because God is a just God. According to what i was taught. |

Ericnrm:Why are you so naive in reasoning and bringing politics into this? It seems you are from another planet using politics scenario as if you don't understand how the political system is being manipulated in the world, especially Nigeria. "Omo wa ni, e je o se..." (Its our son, let him do it) Go and ask your grandparents to enlighten you about Nigeria political history. Its like taking panadol for someone headache is your destiny. Mention me again and thunder fire you and your generation!
