@awelekiti @jayfierce and other gurus, here's a quick one;

I have valid visit TRV that will be expiring in October 2017. I have visited Canada ones with it. However, as I like to plan things ahead, I'm planning to visit again in December this year for my annual vacation but my current visa will be expired by then. My questions are as follows:

1. Is it possible to apply for renewal of my visit TRV before the current one expires?
2. And if yes, how early can I send in the application?

Thanks.
Since your visa will expire before your planned trip, you'd have to renew it ahead of time. As you're planning to travel in December, you may apply 3/4 months to your proposed trip date but paper route, please! If you can afford to wait, you may apply via online route this month cos online application usually takes a much longer time to process. Please refer to the visa processing time on the CIC website for a guide, though it varies per the number of applications being processed by them at a given time,my opinion.

I want to invite my boyfriend for a two weeks visit. I will host him. He has 200k in his acct as of now after opening his business (He is an Electrical/Electronics Technician). How much do you think should be in my acct for this support and be considered okay?

Please help anyone

He has a house and shop to his name and grandparents he looks after, we want to use these as home ties.

Thanks @awelekiti. From your reply, I conclude that an applicant is allowed to apply for a renewal before the current visa expires. That I wasn't sure of initially. Now I can plan accordingly.

Also, Is there anyone in the house that has renewed before their current visa expires. I'm open to ideas, knowledge from experience and tips on how to go about this?

Thanks everyone.

He can abandon his house, have someone else run his shop and he probably isn't the only grandchild his grandparents have. Having a girlfriend/wife in Canada is a strong tie to Canada and that is problematic.

Is it a crime to have a gf/wife in Canada and want to visit? Even though this is what experience says, I feel it isn't cast in stone. If you have a job, kids and all here as home tiez, the individual can also abandon them all if the motive is to stay and look for means of bringing the kids over later. What if it is the entire truth that the applicant has a house, a shop and grandparents as the only ties? Does that mean he will never be granted a visa? Na wa for this canada ppl self.

Their country their rules. Ironically most of these shii won't apply to us, if Nigeria was developed. I watched a program the other day, the african-american woman was coming from the US to marry a man in Canada that she only knew online, as in they haven't physically met but she was allowed into Canada. But if it were Nigeria hmm!

Has nothing to do with development. This wouldn't apply us if Nigerians weren't notorious for being dubious, deceptive, blatantly violating visa conditions, and just being plain criminals. If this is what they have to do, to filter out the bad eggs, well don't blame them. It's sad, but then again, through these strict measures, our reputation abroad has been steadily improving in the past years. So I guess, it's kinda win-win for the upright Nigerians afterall

You're welcome! I think that's just it. In 2011, I was going ti attend a Medical exhibition in US and then visit canada thereafter. I later realised my canada visa was going to expire a few days to the end of my visit while in US and based on my travel plans. Before I left, I applied to renew my canada visa here, which I got . The validity on the renewed visa started counting from the intended travel date as indicated on my CIC visa application form that I filled. In case anyone else has stuffs to share in this regard different from this, that would also help.

dear overlord77, congrats on your visa. if you are visiting canada for the first time and you dont have a specific event or period to visit, egypt air is always cheapest around late november to early december. the planes are not new but you'll get there while saving out a lot. the cold during this period however, is severe.also lookout for deals on BA, you can get a flight to toronto for just 600GBP with transits in London and montreal. i shall also like to tell you to use the UP express, a pearson airport train service, to go downtown toronto, you will love it and it will cost you just 12CAD. a taxi or uber for this service will set you back at least 45CAD. ottawa is a great city to visit too and montreal if money is not a problem. if you're an explorer and like to see and feel things for yourself, try and see one of the finest cities on earth, vancouver or venture into the freezing streets of yellowknife, the capital of NWT province. i know you cant see it all at once but i like trying.
if you have a valid US visa, flying to boston or NYC and then getting a separate connection to toronto is always cheapest if you plan well ahead of time.
enjoy your trip. best of luck.

Yes canada has a shortage of tradesmen like a Welder. You should apply as a skilled worker. If you get accepted go back to school and get your red seal. Red seal means you're qualified to work in canada, USA, or some places in Europe. Nobody acknowledges or respects nigerian qualifications here which makes sense.

Greetings

I happen to be a cinematographer, programmer and business oriented person with steady income in the past 3 years of which i think i can work with from anywhere around the world without interferance (just that i mostly have to be paid by my Nigerian account)
, I am totally self employed.
Apart from bank statements / Financial reports all these years, i never worked under any company aside being consulted on different Jobs or freelance. so i have no documents to show for that.

I am researching and seeking to relocate to Canada as soon as possible.

Though the agent I am about to use says I should try securing a US visa first but i don't know if maybe it can be acquired directly more easily.

Please can you give a tip or guildiance ?

Hi Jawa, interesting tips u gave for travel. Any tips to save cost, etc as I'll be going to BC by September?

Hi dimpules8, BC is beautiful. Good choice there. BC is at the west end of canada which is farthest from nigeria and you're traveling at a peak period. Fares aren't always good. Play around with dates close to your departure if the date is not cast in stone and always consider flying to busier airports close by then getting a separate connection. BA have some good deals (very short windows and they're hard to track) and check late nights and always make sure you have your browser on incognito or private(not sure how that works). If you're a student, dont even waste your money; get egyptair to Toronto and buy a one way ticket pearson to Vancouver and make sure to buy all ahead of time. Egypt air dont have fine planes(worst airline i ever flew) but you'll get there and save alot and for the local air canada flight, have your earphones handy or you'll have to buy one or gaze at your IFE screen for over 4 hours. My opinion

Hello all,

Please, does anyone know someone who has applied to visit Canada while still undergoing NYSC and got approved please?

I wanna know if to use this as a tie or not

Hi deejay102, why do you have so much doubt? You know every application is different. People who earn four times my salary get denied visas daily while secondary school students get approved daily. Every application is assessed differently and circumstances differ. Ties evaluation is a wholistic approach. Please make sure you eventually clear these doubts before applying to get value for your money. If you apply for a visa with doubts, it'll hardly come out well. A VO is trained to see through your application. Be patient. Best of luck

Good day wonderful people,

How are you all doing?

So It's time to travel o, i have been sleeping on google but i would appreciate a direct recommendation or advise from this forum oooo

Please someone should assist me with the most suitable airline to book to Canada at an average rate(civil servant rate if possible) grin

Thanks and God bless you.

Hi chelda, summer travel, in my opinion, is for the rich. I pay for my tickets with hard earned money so i make sure to travel when its cheapest unless for business but i dont compromise on airline unless im experimenting. It would depend on what part of canada you're visiting. If its ontario, and you have a US visa, consider flying to nyc or boston and get a separate connection from there. If its far in mainland like saskatchewan, manitoba or calgary consider flying to Minneapolis then separate connection. If you do not have a US visa however, and you're flying to Ontario still consider flying to Montreal first( airfrance have occasional good deals on this route and air maroc too but air maroc planes are not fine) then separate connection to Toronto Pearson. The trick if that its cheaper to fly to very busy international inflow airports than local inflow airports. If you don't have a US visa dont make the mistake of buying a ticket routed via the US, thats a huge problem so if you're useing an agent, make sure to review the booking before he issues the ticket. Best of luck

Hello wonderful folks.
I want to apply for a Canadian Visit Visa.
The issue is, my nigerian international passport bears a different surname than my bank accounts..(just one name the first and middle are the same).
Will it be an issue with the vo or am I good to go?
And if I apply next week, will I get the visa to travel august ending?

Thank you

Hi desertrose80, this is not a problem at all. Just include official documentation to this effect and explain it in your letter of explanation. About the processing time, its not likely but every application is different. Best of luck

Dear sarang, a VO's primary concern is with the applicant. His engagement in his home country and what may bring him back. He has to establish himself to the visa officer with documents. For canada and the US, its mostly not the money. You live in canada so you and I know that someone can live in canada for years without notice especially if he has someone there. Its a vastly underpopulated country and the VO knows. His ties seem okay to me but i cant say for the VO. He's trying to establish himself which is a good thing and he has responsibilities. With the right documents he should get it right but a VO might also wander why you're not visiting instead as this seems much more convenient for him. Assess the situation together and get the right answers to the VOs concerns and you're good.
About the money, this will largely depend on how long he's staying and what provinve you reside. With accommodation sorted, maybe consider 50CAD daily set aside for his visit and show an active account and make sure to give him evidence of your accommodation payments for maybe past three months. You cant have too much documents. Best of luck. My opinion always

Hi, if you plan to relocate to canada, you should check out the express entry thread here on nairaland.
That being said, do not be deceived by your agent; a US visa will not guarantee a canadian visa. It will be considered of course but never a guarantee . Many people i know personally have tried this and it backfired. There is only one thing sure from your situation right now and its to get rid of your agent. He's clueless. So if you get a US visa then what? Get to the US maybe travel to deserted North Dakota and sneak into Saskatchewan? Migration is not illegal but its best done the right way or you may be stranded or find yourself sneaking around for a long time. My opinion. Best of luck.

I respect your opinion, but I still feel we are facing all of this, purely because of the reputation Nigerians have given us. It wasnt always like this. My parents travelled in those days, when Nigeria was not close to development, they didn't face hassles. Cameroon down there, is much less developed than Nigeria, yet people get their visa within few days to two weeks and no wahala. Ghana used to be that way too, until Nigerians started using Ghanaian passports to apply for visa (and Ghanaians also developed their own criminal tendencies). If it is because of the population of travellers, China has the largest number of tourists/travellers in the world (and it is not a developed country too), yet people in China get their visas in days without issues. If you asked me, the reputation of Nigerians abroad is what led to the increased difficulty of securing visas. Even South Africa down there has been making visa difficult, owing to the infamous Nigerian criminal reputation in South Africa. Our people need to start doing better. It's ridiculous.
