You can't be feeding me when you depend on me to keep your farmers feeding and staying solvent.

If we get Biafra, we can decide to import foods from Central Africa countries on the interim with the money we currently use to buy them from the North, while we shore up our already vibrant agricultural system to meet up with our daily food needs.

The Northern farmers are the ones who would lose out, not us. As we can buy from any other source.

The North feeds no one. I don't remember any of the ingredient for Oha, eguisi, Onugbu, Nsala, Okazi soups that are sourced from the North.

That's what I said ..if they stop getting that they can tax food supplied to the south ...get ??

They may. But then, we might decide to import from Cameroun instead, and Northern farmers will die of hunger as they will run on deficit.

We can use our agricultural trade with several countries and our self sufficient agricultural system to influence those nations

Once Biafra stands, we won't buy anything from the North

Op, one question for you, just one question. Why did 3 millions Biafrans starved to death when Nigeria stopped giving you food during the civil war?

Cameroon cows are fatter and healthier than Nigerian cows. Besides when Biafra comes igbos businessmen will go into ranching. This sector alone will create so many more millionaires in Biafra.

And the north buys crude oil for free right ..??

North can decide to tax each Good coming down south and get enough revenue

If we divide north will still get dollers cos we will have to buy their food in dollars

Hope u now get

North doesnt buy crude oil. They share from the revenue of crude oil whereas the rest of Nigeria buys their food with cash and all revenue stays in the North and it is not shared amongst the rest of Nigeria. The south buys petrol and others just like the North butbwe do not export their products and share the money amongst the other states. So they enjoy crude revenue for free while the rest of the country pays cash for their agricultural products.
See it this way, you sell fish and I have garri. You take my garri or revenue from my garri sales as a right but I must pay cash for your fish. Then you turn around and tell me I woukd die of hunger without your fish. If we want to play fair then you either give me fish for free as you enjoy the revenue from my garri for free or you should also pay cash for my garri as I pay cash for your fish. The revenue from crude does not go to the south alone. Can we also say the revenue from agricultural products of the north is shared amongst every Nigerian? No. We pay cash for their goods.

The north doesn't have what it takes to feed anyone. We really need to restructure or divide Nigeria let's see who has been feeding the other. angry

Excellent post. Essentially, this whole country is running on Niger Delta oil. Not even taking into account that oil is a non-renewable energy source and thus is finite, that particular region of the country has been unstable for years now yet the past and present Nigerian governments have never sought to diversify the country's revenues. And we're told that the Igbos are the problem with this country... undecided

Most people don't realise that many Igbos dominate SME businesses not completely out of choice; they were forced into it after the Biafran war after being excluded from the civil service, the military etc as it was the only way that one could generate income without much assistance from the government, which wasn't afforded to them. This goes to show how resilient and adaptive we are as a people so I really don't worry about what will happen to the average igboman once Biafra comes into fruition. We will adapt.

I have lived in North

If Igbo land is as fertile as the north it would have turn to world food hub

Which fertile land? Does fertile land use fertilizer? If you know how many billion of crude oil money government waste on this parasites you wont believe it. Yet nothing to show for it.

I am sure most of u were complaining seriously when the price of tomato skyrocket.I just laff when some people make comments,U are all not ready for biafra. The first step is using current popularity of ipob to win all elective posts in d east @ 2019 and then move to Abuja with one voice to make ur demands.A nation of traders looks for more markets and doesn't reduce the one u already have.Well,am still waiting for your top bizmen to show up at the ipob party.Goodluck in ur quest for eldorado.

..If the north feeds the country,i suppose its fair to say..Igbos powers Nigeria's citizens automobile through their spare parts dominance undecided

Food prices in Nigeria is the most expensive in West Africa and clearly one of the most expensive in the world.

if you allow importation of beef, you will see how mallams have been cheating Nigerians and causing so much hunger in the land. The same with onions, tomatoes or goats.

Onions and Tomatoes are Food ingredients and not actual food. Also both crops grow well in the east.

Anambra and Ebonyi are taking care of rice production in the SE.

Don't mind them. They seem to think that having lots of oil leads to having a prosperous nation- how's that fared for Nigeria?

I truly believe that we'd do more with that amount of oil than Nigeria has ever done with its billions of barrels of oil. Nigeria has been so poorly run that it won't be difficult to surpass.

Maybe not Nama but when it comes to goat, we don't play. Raising goat is just as common as raising chicken in Igboland. That's why we have Isiewu traditionally as a delicacy.
