Is there a cure....no one knows, but Pharmaceutical firms are in a mad rush to discover the cure so as to get a patent for it. This would enable them to be the sole manufacturer for the cure. Some say a cure would be available by 2030.

First of all, I want to commend u for ur courage and I wish u all d best. I hope d cure comes soon if possible in our lifetime. But have u had blood transfusion before? Do u share razor or shaving tools? For example do u use d public clipper in barbing saloon which is often not sterilized? While I ask is that if as u said it is not thru sex and I know that blood stain loaded with d virus on a clipper though latent cud become active when it enters a living cell which becomes its host. Do u know d status of the last person u had sex with perharps it was just at its window period? Have u tried to recall possible circumstances that cud ve exposed u to d virus?
Have u experienced stigmatisation if so from which particular set of people and how do u respond to incidences of stigmatisation?

Nope never had blood transfusion. Yes I sometimes get an haircut or a shave with other clippers . As for stigmatization, I'm experiencing it already , some friends and neighbours are now wary of me (as if HIV dey fly for air or you go get am by merely looking at the person) but I am not bothered.

my litle advice... eat well any kinda food.. do exercise, live free, give free.. dont tink abt it... dont say it much... free ur mindset on d future of a better life.. always say to ur sef u re negative take ur drugs and most of all tell God tank u for ur lifr daily as u wake up... trust me u will live longer than anyone... dont be afraid of dying death will run away from u... i was once tested hiv positive 2009 i tot it was a joke cos i carried out d test my sef..
2016 i went to a federal govt hospital and i saw d result confirmed positive...

i have nt seena councelling centre or a hospital tk go for medication but i leav all to God since 2009 till today if u c me u no go believe say i am positive y cos i free my mind and i always pray to God to change d situation

I think there are some legislations to guard against stigmatization in the work place, but that doesn't concern me much because I am self-employed.
It's true that God is the Giver and Preserver of all life forms, but please seek medical help from the professionals. God imbued that knowledge in them for a purpose.

I totally understand you bro. I studied applied microbiology and had the opportunity of doing my 4 months Industrial Training attachement at a Federal Medical Centre. Was rotated around the various units in the Med Lab Dept. Serology unit handled RVS tests and we had them in droves everyday. One day one man came in for tests. Extremely thin, pale and sickly. You'd think he had acute Hepatitis B infection and wasn't gonna last the next week. I was to draw his blood for Retroviral screening.

Long story short, I pricked myself when I attempted to cap the needle after drawing his blood. I can still feel the hot flush, the shock, the sting, the rush of blood from my head anytime I recall that moment. Four other staff were in the room with me, but I didn't let them know what had happened. I squeezed out as much blood as I could from the finger and swabbed with Jik bleach. Couldn't continue working that day. Made up an excuse and left later on. Got home and couldn't think of anything else. I was devastated to say the least. Did I also add that the patient's result came out positive? Everyone already knew that was going to be the outcome.

I lost appetite and withdrew completely. Stopped talking to my siblings and parents. My mom noticed this and had to sit me down two days later to query my sudden change of attitude. I just laid it out bare to her. She expressed shock, asked why I had kept quiet all the while and said we were going to another FMC that specialised in HIV management immediately. We went there the next day where they did my screening (came out negative) and put me on Post-exposure prophylaxis regimen for 30 days. To this day, nobody, not even my late dad, siblings, nobody except my mom is aware of this incident.

Now the reason I'm spilling all these here, is to let you know that miracles happen. This incident occurred Sept 10, 2004. Yup. 13 years ago. I'm currently married with a pretty wife and daughter, and another baby about to land very soon. I have been negative ever since. My family members are all negative and the babies were all conceived naturally without any special arrangement. Just God's Divine Grace. I must confess that i was MEGA apprehensive when we went for screening prior to our wedding. Was sweating bullets when the nurses called us in to hand us our results. Of course it was negative. My life has been a miracle bro. I once in a while go on Facebook to just type those words "My being alive today is still a miracle" and people do not understand what I mean.

I was a virgin when that needlestick occurred, so I believe you when you say you did not get infected sexually.

I don't have much words to give you bro. You know better. All I can say is take your medications religiously, stay positive!

This is my first time of posting on this forum and I pray this get to as many people as possible.
Most folks dread the thought of testing positive to HIV but it shouldn't be so. That is why it is very necessary to get tested at least once in a month.
I developed the habit of getting tested monthly (though I can beat my chest and say with pride that I am not a promiscuous fellow). But recently I skipped a couple of months in my routine for no apparent reason. The last time I got a test was mid-march so I went for a test last week and the test result came out positive. To be certain it wasn't a mistake, I went to two other places and the results were adamantly positive.
Now some people may ask who who got me infected, but that is a none-issue as far as I'm concerned . I have even stopped asking myself how I got infected because it's been more than two years since the last time I had sexual intercourse . So it can't possibly have been sexually transmitted to me, most especially as the experts say the viral load is low which means I must have been recently infected, at most not more than five or six months.
I intend to utilize my status as an HIV+ person to reach out and help as many as I can. I am already posting on Facebook what I learn from counseling programs I attend on living with the virus.
The Doctors said they have to monitor my viral load and CD4 count for some time in order to determine the best treatment program for me. I know that if I stick to the treatment program and follow the Doctors advice diligently that I'll still live a healthy life.
I use this medium to beg of everyone reading this to go for an HIV test. Knowing your status is key to helping yourself. If you are negative, please maintain all necessary prevention techniques.... avoid unprotected sex/multiple partners , don't share needles/blades (if you can afford it, get your own hair clipper) but above all, get tested regularly.
If you find out that you are positive (like me) , please don't despair. There are several HIV/AIDS centres in most hospitals across the nation where you can access help in the form of counseling and medications and these are mostly free of charge.
HIV is not a death sentence, you can still live a meaningful and healthy life despite your status.
Spread the message and not the virus.

It would have been nice in U can include some possible save places to get tested safely cos am even scared of going to all Nigerian hospital.. U go healthy and come back sick..... Have not visit any hospital in the last 12years npt even to see someone sick.. And pls include possible cost

It is still the fear and initial stigmatisation that gives people phobia! Even.in Spain people get injected with the virus so as to access health benefits and stipends off government! Moreover recent drugs reduces the virus and in some cases almost eliminates it! Live a healthy life, get tested regularly! My dad said i will definitely Get AIDS if o have sex or even touch a woman, he said that to me like 12 years ago or so when am about to enter JSS3, Well the funny thing is i dont even care about women, all i think about is playing Video games, watching one piece & Naruto. Though i still haven't had sex even once, i did touch women like twice accidentally, though soft, it wasn't as enticing as they made it out to be in movies.


P.S I will never do any tests unless absolutely necessary both my parents showered me with blessings of a healthy life in this miserable earth

..in Europe..some people deliberately infect themsleves.. they call it "the gift".

But they are ignorant to the fact that the virus mutates either by mixing of the virus strains or by not taking the ART regularly. So some feel its okay to spread the virus but in the process get cross infected thereby creating a super virus resistant to ART's.

my brother i really admire u..i wish i cld gather up courage and do mine cus am rili depressed.after an incident i had abt 6 yrs ago(although i used cd bt fell ill a week later)and coupled with d fact dat am currently battling persistent typhoid, i rili nid to do the test buh am rili scared..am scared dat i might be segregated by my family. atimes suicide cums to my mind. if i treat my self of typhoid now,it comes back in weeks...am so tired.how i wish i could meet u face to face so that i.can be motivated to do it.
