Lionessza:LOL@feeling like a celebrity .I never really believed all these things,I always had my suspicions.Another one that was popular was the twitching left eye, they used to say if your left eye starts twitching it means a relative is going to visit, but then weeks would go by without someone visiting...that's when I started calling the bull*** on these superstitions |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 7:38am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Jayceon:Lol, I know that one too Jayce and I would sleep every night hoping it was my aunt bringing my cousins over for a visit and no one ever came lol. Since I'm scared and hate cats , I still believe this one ; seeing a black cat means your trip will be fuckd . I see black cats everyday cos my neighbor has 3 . So I'm forever having bad days . |

Lionessza:LOL the only thing I use to look forward to if the visitor ever came was the nice meals,I remember my mother would go as far as spending money she really didn't have on some nice food just to impress a visitor,so having a visitor in those days was beneficial LOL ![]() Haha, you still believe the cat one? But I really can't blame you, black cats can be scary sometimes but when I see them I make nothing out of it.I got rid of all the superstitions long time ago |

Lionessza:LMAO. So Leo. I grew up believing a lot of superstitions because of my mom. She was very superstitious. A few off the top of my head are: -An itching foot means you wanna run the streets. She'd shout at me if I said my foot was itching because according to her, it meant I didn't wanna stay indoors. With this one, I think she was trying to teach me to enjoy the comforts of home, to stay out of trouble & gossip. As a result, this became nature than nurture. -Singing or talking while eating will make your voice horrible. Basic etiquette & manners, I guess. -Checking yourself in the mirror for too long, will make you ugly. Moral of this one, vanity is an unattractive trait. -Letting someone jump over your head will make you short. This one is TRUE I was jumped so much growing up, which totally ruined my chances & my destiny of becoming a 5'10 model on the Paris runways ![]() Last but not least & my favourite. This one I still practise to this day -Leaving your hair everywhere, will make you run mad. I think the core is about cleanliness & hygiene, rather than anything else. But anyway, I'm still more protective of my hair than Samson from the Bible. If I go to the salon, I bring a plastic bag for my "golden locks". You'd swear they were strands of gold because of how protective I am over them ![]() |

Jayceon:LMFAO , I know about the nice meals and the best plates for visitors and you sit there and wonder why doesn't she do this everyday ? .I would believe any bad thing about cats , if you told me they are witches I would believe you I'm really scared of those sneaky creatures. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 9:32am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Here, if you sit on a mortar(used for pounding ysm) while it's raining, Sango, the god of thunder will strike you dead, grandma would say. Once grandma is out of sight, I would try, relying on the biblical protection of "no weapons forged against me.. ." Also, collecting rain water with bare hands attracts the same same danger. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 9:38am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Snow84:TBH, I think some of them are quite logical & not old wives' tales as we believe. Like your examples, they don't sound foolish at all, if you take a lot of things into account. Because in both scenarios, you could be hit by lightning on a bad day. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Romerocollins: 9:42am On Jun 22, 2017 |
If you heat your left leg against the stone on your way to an event, just turn back, it is bad luck. If someone came and buy credit from you as you are just opening store, forget that day, every other person's who visit your store have one credit story or another, this one is real. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 9:45am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Lol ,leos are born to be celebrities even behind the scenes .Lmfao, I can totally relate to the jumping over your head one coz I use to fight with anyone who did that , it felt like they were trying to destroy my future achievements lol. And the hair , I used to be obsessed with that one too but not that much now. Where did you dissappear to? , I thought unxanwe wabhubha . Iweyi yenu I sorted? |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 9:54am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:LMAO. Go you! The spam thing banned me yesterday, so I decided to have a productive day for once Yeah, everything is back to normal now. It was just maintenance. They still have huge, black pipes out though, which probably means, they're not done yet. Ugh! |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 10:00am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Lol, ugh shame. Oh atleast things are back to normal. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 10:07am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:The funny thing is, the pipes are scaring small children because they look like snakes. My neighbour's son yesterday was standing by the gate in awe. He excitedly told me about the " dead anaconda" outside. He said maybe the municipality workers found it in the hole & killed it. I lol'ed. Kids & active imaginations

| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 10:19am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:The reason they didn't do it everyday was because money was scarce, tho they did not mind spending their last penny as soon as a visitor showed up at the door. When it comes to cats, well I guess I just hate the way they stare but as far as those superstitious theories about cats go,I don't know.they are just weird animals.pardon me,but I hate a chameleon more than I hate cats,I hate the way it moves so slow,I hate that disgusting long tongue, and plus it can also camouflage with it's surroundings.what kind of a creature is that one ![]() Aren't there also superstitions about chameleons? |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 10:24am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Hahahaha , i think kids are psychotic people we just don't know it yet lol. A few weekends back my nephew and his mom visited me and he wanted to go pee so I took him to the toilet and he's like , "you see my thing is growing and when I'm older I want it to be bigger and scary like my dad's," illustrating the dad's size with his hands . |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 10:32am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Jayceon:Lol, true. Yeah the way they stare and move as if they are threatning or daring you scares the shyt out of me . Lol, are they from the same family as frogs? All those sorts of creatures disgust me and to even think there are people keeping them as pets . Smh. I've never had an superstitions about chameleons. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 10:42am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:Lol @ scary like my dad's. The "scarier", the better, young man That's how mummies prefer it ![]() |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 10:43am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:no.frogs are cute animals,I used to play with them.A chameleon on the other hand is just a creepy animal and if there is one animal that deserves all these superstition,I SWEAR,chameleons is best suited |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 10:56am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:Btw, I saw this blog the other day & the comments made me laugh. It's about penis size by tribe ![]()

| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 11:22am On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Hahahaha, I've heard this venda thing from a lot of people and out of curiosity a few years back, me and my sick cousin asked a venda guy who was a friend to show us since we could see there was something massive behind those pants . Lol as crazy as he was he did but wanted to be payed for it , I must say I didn't regret losing a few rands . As for the Xhosa dudes and ego , even the ones with smaller pricks think they are shyt lol. I've always had a thing for tswana men I find them attractive and fun . Ever tried going the venda route? ![]() |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 11:25am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Jayceon:Lol, ok. Not really but I can sense that they hate my guts too when they look at me . Plus something tells me in my past life I was killed by a cat or I will be killed by one ![]() |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 11:37am On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:LMFAO. Was it the biggest thing you ever saw or what? No, I have not dated other tribes, except for Xhosa & Tswana. Both were pretty well-packaged, I must say Xhosa guys are egotistical, sex maniacs indeed. My ex would keep you up all night, as if you were on night shift Most Venda guys, no offence, but they're a bit on the ugly side for me lol. I can't go from our pretty boys to that, sorry My cousin dated one for 10 years though, so perhaps it's true. I never asked. Have you ever dated outside your tribe?Btw, now I'm reminded of something else. Growing up, my friend's house had a shack at the back of the house which they rented to this couple that drank a lot. The guy was called Bigboy. So anyway, on weekends they'd come home drunk as usual. We played at the back too, so we'd hear them having sex in their shack. She used to say, "Nditye Bigboy, nditye nyana kaNomademfu", which was followed by her humming those words in pleasure. LMFAO. It was so hilarious. |
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Lionessza(f): 1:23pm On Jun 22, 2017 |
ZarZar:Lol, yes it was the biggest I've ever seen and it kinda looked abnormal to me. I've also only dated Xhosa and tswana , but I've gone to dates with Zulus ( I hated the stereotypes they had of us , so i couldn't go further) . Ndebelele and swati ( I don't think they can handle Xhosa women to be honest , they are always calm and sound too soft, not my cup of tea I like them psycho like my brothers ) . I went out to with a venda he was so smart I loved it but I just couldn't not look beyond the ugliness and he was too cultural and the food he ate was a big no no for me. The guy was so fugly I could not forgive him . I've noticed that Xhosa and tswana guys look and behave alike , maybe that's why I tend to be attracted to them . Lol@ being sex maniacs....I think they do that to satisfy their egos and make sure you never forget it lollll. O.m.g I couldn't stop laughing at the bolded . Was he unyana ka nomademfu ke ? he must have been a really Bigboy
|
| Re: Name One Superstition You Believed As A Kid by Nobody: 1:45pm On Jun 22, 2017 |
Lionessza:LMFAO. You know what? I feel exactly the same about Ndebele & Swazi guys. Like I'd run circles around them & they wouldn't do jacket shit about it. They come across too sweet like you say. No va va voom. I agree on the rest as well, but the Tswana don't have the annoying big ego of Xhosa guys. Otherwise, they're very similar. Bigboy's mother's name was Nomademfu lol. |
