By 1859 (precolonial)they didn't just have a newspaper,they had two secondary schools in Abeokuta and Lagos and the bible had been translated into Yoruba to show that not just a very few in the south of present day Nigeria were literate.During colonialism by 1959(like you thought wrongly above)they already had a TVstation,the first TV station in Africa from cape to Cairo.By independence,according to some sources the whole of Northern Nigeria had only two graduates(I stand to be corrected) against very many from the south.So,you see the north had always lagged behind the south in Nigeria before,during and after colonization.But the british had other uses for them of course.They were their willing tool.

This is what a Nigerian parliament looked like in the 60s n today. You hardly see our political leaders n lawmakers on Western clothes since independence. Always on traditional clothes. I have hardly seen that in other African countries. Is that the same case in ET?
