But come to think of it, if her MPH gets us into the country, can't I now process PR based on my engineering degree/experience and practice gained from nigeria. And would said PR cover the whole family?

You have an engineering degree, why waste money paying school fees for your wife?

Studying MPH is a sheer waste of resources and time aside the knowledge that will be gained though. Well, I have given this advice to many people but they rejected it.

My advice is, collect the tuition deposit you have paid. Start your PR application.

Alternatively, let her go and you can start your PR application here. Once you get it, you can join her.

Life will be easier for you with PR than on student visa considering you are married with a child. It is better for single students compared to the married folks.

But also remember that the skilled list is reviewed every year. Mph might be there this year or years to come, you never can tell.

If they travel together, they can support each other while the husband starts his PR process immediately or even before they arrive.

Things are changing and very soon it will become difficult to pull through skill select. Most occupations has started reaching ceiling.

Are you currently living in the country?

Stop misinforming people. I am not sure you understand occupational ceiling.

@yeyen004,

Why work with a probability when you have a certainty?

You guys probably think it is that easy working and studying and raising money for school fees. It is doable but at which cost? Why mount unnecessary pressure on yourself when you can make your life easier.

There are many students here who regrets not coming on PR.

Thanks guys for the advice and all. I also think the MPH thing is a waste of money as against going for PR directly. Thing is we are already into it, and since I can still apply for PR from here or over there, and we already have applied for a visa and all. I would want to press on with the student thingy, get a certainty as per getting into the country and then we fit dey push the PR matter. Meanwhile my wife has 40hrs every forthnight to work and then my own na unlimited so na to dey hustle am dey go. E go soft when e go soft my brothers then all men go laugh about the hustle for beginning. I greet you all.

Most occupations on that list are not certain and can't stand test of time except Engineering, nursing and medical related occupations . So if you are not in those lines, then you have to work with probability.

Please dont say others are misleading people because you have different opinion.

I understand how it feels when you are on study visa while others came on PR, dont forget that there is high probability that you will still be waiting on skill select if not study visa.

You people mention PR as if once you have posive assessment and with good english and you register on skillselect, you will just get nominated like that.

What about the classifications of our degrees not comparable to australia by some assessment bodies.

Occupations in accountings and ict has almost reached ceiling in the first quarter and points to be nominated and selected was also increased.

I know people that have spent years and months without being selected especially occupations except the ones mentioned by the man (yeyen) above.

If you have the means, the best is study route instead of wasting time while policies and systems becomes unfavorable.

If you have a spouse, good for you as you can support each other.

Nothing wrong in studying a course like MPH. Especially if that's what you really like and you have the funds. But after 2 years study, what next? Go back to Nigeria to start applying for jobs?

If your long term plan is PR, the MPH doesn't help in anyway. You still have to fall back to an Engineering Bachelor's degree or any other degree that can give a skill assessment.

How about 2years post graduate work permit? And also remember mph is broad. With Mph u can work as epidemiologist, biostatistician, health promotion officer, evinronmental health officer etc. one of these can be on that list.

Quick question: While my wife is doing her MPH, is it possible that she also starts processing PR while studying? Please take into consideration that while I have an engineering degree and experience, she also has a medical degree from ukraine and is younger than me, so more points on the age front to start with and I believe a medical general practicioner will have better chances for state/region nomination. Am I thinking right

I believe you will be contacted to provide additional information when they need it. On the other hand you can also send it to your agent to add it to the application documents. I do not think that should be a problem.

Hello dear, I dropped a message for you, and will really appreciate a response. I just wanna discuss a few things with you. Also my email is bestdiddy@yahoo.com

JewelStone:

I like this sort of questions; apt and sensible. Master of social work is an excellent course, and WSU is a better Uni than ACU. It's better to start the disability course when you get here and you still need it despite the social work program cos the disability jobs require Cert III & IV not degree. Cheers
