he was busy busy being nationalistic which is good and also what u people are preaching

its not good for a part the country to be developed only when it produces a president, if that is so then we are not a good country,
power should then be devolved

if river niger was in the north
would it not have been dredged for ships to come in?

I told u state govts don't have the powers to build sea ports under the law

its even too capital intensive
is it fashola that built the one in lagos?
I told u imo airport was built to international standard by the contributions of the locals , but the FG refuse refuse to approve it saying it should only remain local airport

remember that international embassies in lagos attracts population and investment too. lagos just have the advantage because it has been a federal capital before. so stop using achievements in lagos as a yardstick for other states. lagos was built by federal and state govts
katsina intl air port was built by the FG even though the state is younger than imo state which money was contributed by the locals to build or do u think this does not matter?

apart from lagos and ogun , that had the influence of the FG for their development tell me other yoruba states doing well (lagos was a former capital and ogun state is drawing from that proximity)
To start with Jona spent N34 billion (Plus corruption and embezzlement of course) dredging that river and he refurbished Onitsha port. Please do your research.

Saying states don't and can not building seaports means you know nothing about your own country.

Lagos state is building 2 seaports and corrupt and crooked akpabio tried to build ibaka seaport, but he stole all the funds he budgeted for the project.

If you are interested in or trying to build a seaport, approach the FG with your plans for approval, secure funds and investors and you are good to go, that's what they did in Lagos state, your states can do it too.

Lagos is trying to build a state airport in Lagos like other states are doing and have done, but you are here making excuses and spewing half truths, even making excuses for your own visionless and incompetent governors.

So, your hopes and future depend on the generosity of the FG?

They lack FG presence and infrastructures in many many states in Nigeria, but they are not complaining or making excuses, they are forging on, they are growing their economy, building seaports, airports, roads and bridges and so on, even their IGRs are larger than your own so who's at fault here? Your own governors obviously because everything you're lamenting over here, other states are doing it or have done it so stop making excuses.

yes it depends on the FG. who should build Onitsha bridge, is it delta or anambra: that why its called a federal project

jonathan refurbished Onitsha port, am not seeing any physical activity there, that means he didn't do it well, that also means it should not be left like that because the previous administration didn't do it well. it is for the economic well being of the south east, this can help help douse agitations

they should build one state in the south east for us, give us embassies or consular offices where we wouldn't always be going to lagos before going abroad (Europe and America) this massive movements generates revenue for lagos too. these are some of the reasons lagos has large IGR

and mind u

it is only the federal govt that can dredge river niger because its parts of flow lies between other states like bayelsa, rivers and delta who may not allow u dredge in their domain so ur activity will be null and void, lagos and akwa ibom is not sharing its waters with any state

But you all claim that you developed Lagos and Abuja na. Why are you now saying its the federal government that developed Lagos and Abuja? You lots are very confused
what I mean was the infrastructures that attracted our people, the FG couldn't have come to develop trade fair and give it the value it has today

building bridges and co without the corresponding population to use it will amount to decay as seen with abandoned FG properties in lagos
the FG built the infrastructures(ie good roads and bridges), my people came used them to build private entrepreneurship(businesses, estates and building) that attracted more population and hence development

so I still lay that claim that we developed lagos through our middle level man power enterprises

Yes, you also need the FG to feed and bath you too? SMH.

Other states are doing their own thing and not waiting for the FG, but you can not do anything to save your own life unless uncle abi daddy FG do it for you.

You see why your region is so poor, no adults and leaders with vision and competence.lol.

Dumbos. You lots are the ones who need to resign.
#enemiesofprogress

90% of lawmakers in Lagos (a diverse one too) are smarter than any one of you. And 1 Fashola = 108 senators.

P.S. I'd like to assume a huge chunk of Igbos on this thread are the ones who've never traveled 200 km from their abode -- the emotionally weak ones, because none of my igbo friends and acquaintances are this dumb (leaving the very rogues that shared funds for your second Niger bridge in the guise of boreholes and other crap for their own people, but going after Fashola who is trying to make things work).

Stoopidity is really some incurable disease.

the dreaded armed robber (oyenusi) was a Yoruba man

its still part of the problem created by the FG as listed earlier that's why we are scattered in all parts of the world seeking survival by all means because we cant be compressed in an undeveloped south east, man must seek survival anyhow since the Yoruba and hausa led FG has made the legal means very impossible for us

we have always been ur direction in supporting u people: we igbos helped in voting in abiola, helped in voting in obasanjo, yar dua , shagari, and there has never been any reciprocal on ur part. when its time to pay us back u people always backslide as can be seen during jonathan
contradiction is when ur people always say they are not holding us back and their actions and write ups are the opposite.
OBJ was never the candidate of Yoruba's,Olufalaye was our candidate, yar'adua was not our candidates rather hausa candidacy, shehu shagari was not our candidate,Awolowo was our candidate in 70s,you can only mention Abiola. We yoruba's fight for him against cabals for his restoration,we voted for him during 2011 election, after the election he treated us as if we were nothing,no tangible position,no reasonable projects, and we were raising voice then,he pretended as if we were nothing, that was why we showed him we were important in the political scenes of this nation But,it always beats my imagination when you people from SS and SE said we backstabbed gej, when were u when gej marginalised u,when were u when we complained of marginalisation and he handled it with kid glove.

Not at all but apart of that university that is not well equip he did nothing else for his community not to talk of state. Remember he has been in power since 1999 and his Otuoke home town cannot boast of good road..
Re: Senator Danjuma Goje To Fashola: Resign If The Work Is Overwhelming by BTT(m): 9:42am On Jul 06, 2017
True, every people get the leaders they deserve.

Danjuma Goje's utterances are an affront to the good people of Lagos state and a deliberate provocation of their House of Assembly.

Alh Goje was Minister of State for Power and Steel under Obasanjo, what did he achieve? He is probably bitter because he felt Mr Fashola took his job. As Governor of Gombe state for 8 years, (2003-2011), how did he reposition his state in Nigeria? What did he do differently that advanced the course of his people and humanity at large? The questions are in torrents...

And then, one is forced to wonder at the age and intellectual competence of Nigerians, as represented on here at Nairaland. Some commentators are very bitter and would topple the apple-cart because they want a lose-lose situation.

Like most of the 'intellectual' riffraffs here, Goje left the substance for the shadows. He attacked the personality of Fashola and refused to address the issue for which he and his infamous colleagues were called out for.

Like we say in the hood, 'Nobody holy pass' but I have a parting shot: Who would you rather prefer as your leader, Fashola or Goje?

Weldone o Mr developer. You still don't get the point. Are there no igbos in the east? Biko Why have they not developed the east na? Unless you want to tell us that it is only igbos in Lagos that have the capacity to develop their environment. With a concentration of ndigbo in the east, it doesn't make sense to claim that igbos are developers and at thesame time say that the east is not developed.

Thesame mistake. No single tribe can ascribe the prosperity of any city to a single tribe but I doubt if your sentiment will let you understand. So if you are not in Abuja, Nigerian economy will collapse.... I don Laff tire grin grin grin

yes naa. we developed lagos, our oil money was used also by the FG and our side was neglected, this was the initial attraction of my people to lagos
we turned swampy and neglected areas into towns and shops before u could say 'jack robinson' the hitherto neglected area (two local govts in such areas have started dragging ownership because of its revenue) and this was how we helped in developing lagos with our population and middle level man power we exhibit hence the big IGR of lagos which u people are using to make mouth now
ask the landlords
Please add Lagos to Biafra map let's claim all the places we "developed"

The 100b naira wastage we have to endure.

It really is a pity that Nigerians find it hard to voice their anger at these dishonorable members of assembly. Many of those guys have corruption charges over their heads, hardly make any contribution to this country and as Prof Sagay noted ---many are of dubious character.

In any sane society SAN Fashola would be applauded for the sheer determination he goes about his Job. He is trying to bring some semblance of sanity to this country, but I guess in this country we are wont to praise the loudest buffoons known to mankind.

Some of the commentators in this thread remind me of those guys who can't stand the idea of someone being the 'best'. Lagos is the best state in this inglorious federation and Fashola was the man who made it so..

Please legislooters let's have this meeting in public -allow the cameras into your dirty chambers so we hear the SAN lecture the semi-illiterate members of assembly --I guess we would probably watch these comedians act like spoilt brats --shouting at the top of their voices and throwing tantrums -but as a true omo isale eko,Fash would probably smile and wonder how we ever got to this level of insanity.

I want bridges, power plants,it would be a great day when we would be able to drive from lagos to ibadan like I normally drive from philly to ny.
