Thank you for enlightening that low budget asss moda fuckker.
Most Nigerians don't expand their horizon. And they don't think beyond the box.
And for the other scumbagg saying nosense about the the Oba of Benin. You like it or not. He is one of the most feared and respected obas in the whole of West Africa.
Ask Great Britain. They will tell you that they recognize only two kingdom
The Benin Kingdom and the United Kingdom, [/s]

The life of a servant to the Oba of Benin is better than that of many so called free Nigerians.
In any case, the terms "servant" and "freeborn" are very relative, subjective ones. A man who cannot afford to be more than 1hr late to work, who cannot afford to take an occasional day off from work to spend time with his family or take a vacation anytime he pleases, is that man really free?

Of course not. Your submission is spot on.

No sir, its just for tradition sake. They dont serve forever. He'll leave and another will take his post.
Let me educate you, every true Bini family has a role it performs for the king traditionally. This boy's family's duty is to aid d king in immediate menial duties, therefore it warrants their presence beside d king at all times. The family/clan has elders who know all the children in the family and choose which boys go to d palace and for what period. The oba is notified and he gives consent. That ring on their feet is a symbol of their role, not a form of slavery.

To my Benin brothers/sisters in the house, could you please tell me if these set of people (don´t want to call them servant since i do not know the correct name for them) get any form of formal education? Abi they spend all their lives serving the king? And can one resign from such post?

My curiosity sometimes ....... i know ... but would like to know.

They are freeborns, not slaves, that is their own role in the kingdom: answer the oba's immediate calls. They live like other people, school marry etc etc, na family tradition

You must be a celebrated fool.

With the way you are ignorantly fooling yourself on every single thread on Nairaland, you should have buried your flat head in shame for disgracing the entire good people of Igbo land.

Oba of Benin is far greater than all the traditional rulers and Chief priests, both dead and alive in the whole of South East. How much do you know about the Binis?....You better pocket your fingers where it belongs else Igodomigodo and Atalakpa will fall on you like the law of gravity.

Due to your myopic reasoning, social miscreants like you will only end up creating more problems and hatreds for the Igbos in the process of looking for cheap Nairaland publicity. Talk is cheap.

I quite agree with you. How many of us actually have 'freedom' in the true sense of it. We are all slaves in one form or the order. Slaves to money, slaves to technology, slave to religion. It is a fact, that today that we have more slaves in the world than any order time in human history.
