LagosismyHome:1.Fashola can't line his pockets from power because of privatization (DISCOS and GENCOS...remember...since 2014). 2.Despite the increases...the money needed to fix power in Nigeria is huge. TO wit...we need to find $300bn to spend in the next 3 years to guarantee light 24/7. (ten times our current external reserves). 3.And banks won't lend to DISCOS and GENCOS...plus their suppliers....even Nigeria Gas Company....want to be paid in dollars...not naira. |

When will the minimum wage be reviewed? When will the FG put themselves in the shoes of the masses? |

What NERC and the Minister should do is to compel all Discos to connect All or 95% of Nigerians to Prepaid meters. People can then use what they can afford just like the GSM telephones. The big Onus is on Discos to checkmate bypassing by monitoring and punishing those found guilty. Issuing estimated bills to people is unlawful and unacceptable and metering transformers instead of individuals is also wrong because some people have/use more electrical gadgets than others. |

No single light in my area, yet we pay light bill constantly. We even pay for transformer. They only bring light a day to when they want to come collect bill. The ligh wunt even stay up to 3hrs and the annoying thing is they bring it at mid night when they know your sleeping and wunt use it. Very annoying thing. |

SalamRushdie:The DISCOS cannot accept 100% power from the GENCOS for these reasons 1.Our ancient transmission system (run by govt.via Transmission Company of Nigeria)..needs trillions of naira for complete fixing) 2.GENCOS want to be paid in dollars for the power they give DISCOS...because GENCOS suppliers want their payment in dollars. including entities like Nigeria Gas. |

9jakohai:You probably forgot that the DISCO'S biggest debtor is the Government MDAs. And most of this DISCOS lack corporate governance. |

I feel disgusted when government mouthpiece like Fashola and co speak on this kind of issue from the angle that favours them. Agreed that the exchange rate is swinging up north and this is affecting cost of input.Have you ever thought of implications of further upward review in tariff on the hapless consumers? To make it worse, these increases have never been greeted by improved services - at least from the past experiences. Did Fashola ever think of what the exchange rate fluctuation has done to the minimum wage of workers who pay for this tariff? How many times has govt ever forced upward review of minimum wage? Not even once I can remember. And I am sure the ongoing committee work on minimum wage review will last the remaining life of this administration and no result. I thought the essence of government in the system is to cater for the welfare and well being of its citizenry! Where is the place of this responsibility in this matter as far as the government is concerned? Can we for once in this country begin to do things right? They also talk about people and corporate bodies do not pay taxes. How will they pay in the face of lack of accountability on the part of government, as well as unbridled and mindless corruption going on in government circles? |

God help Nigeria...looking at the comment of the so called Nigerian Leader of tomorrow/today... most u be sentimental with your comment...the fact that you don't have light in your area is not/not entirely on the minister of power...have you checked the funtionality of your CDA,LCDA,etc... the fact that you don't have a transformer is that the Minister fault? the fact that the unqualified people in your area keep tempering with your transformer is it the Minister fault... the Minister has given you (information) indirectly the Body responsible for changing tariff and how it is done... some of you have constant power supply, yet you come to this platform to tarnish images... I'm not a supporter of any person or party but i dare to recognized Activeness from passiveness... |

SalamRushdie:I av sed the man is a typical example of what a propaganda machine can do. Fashola right from his tenureship in Lagos has been a glorified, overhyped, confidence artist, with disguised elements of corruption in him and that's what d present Lagos state govt was trying to get d cattle rearer's govt and public to know, but like Yakubu,Buratai,Dambazzau, etc,u are corrupt free as long as u are appointed by "mr integrity". Fashola is simply akin to a smooth talking conman, all show, no substance. |

murmee:God knows that I want Fashola to use force to compel those DISCOS to install prepaid meters for everyone....if necessary .... But..... 1.As someone said elsewhere on Nairaland....DISCOS don't earn enough cash from prepaid meters. They rely heavily on people on estimated billing (like me!) to reach their financial targets. Installing prepaid meters for everyone is a good idea....but a bad one from a financial standpoint. 2.People bypass meters (and when DISCOS try to intervene...as happened a few streets away from my residence')...violence can occur. |

This man cannot achieve anything without killing people. Senior Advocate of excess tax, Senior advocate of price increase. Running government like a one man business venture. Have you beg your fellow governors to pay workers salaries? And the one paying half salary what have you done about it Sir? |
