The eagle has finally landed!!!!!!!
Brethren, it has happened ooo, I woke up around 1am and started rehearsing the possible interview questions done by Baba Texrem and Chief Blacnewton, I started praising God from 4am to 5am. Then off to embassy from Obalende where I lodged, I was still standing beside the keke when a police man asked me to come down, I come dey reason where I go come down from, omor na em dey collect my file o, begin ask about the SOA, make I call me sister, I come change am for them, naso dey carry me and two other guys with fake SOA to ATM machine, those guys withdrew and sorted their way leaving stubborn me there around after 6.they come give me my PASSPORT make I dey go after enough argument. (first victory)
I got to the embassy around 6:15 am, after all said and done.... Fast-forward to the interview

I was interviewed by the man at window 4 after denying first 5 applicants

VO: come over, good morning

Me :good morning to you sir and how was your night

Vo: fine thank you ,tell me about your school,

Me:illinois state university is the first public university in Illinois, founded in... He cuts in

Vo: how did you hear about the school

Me :i got to know about Illinois state university through my undergraduate professor who happened to be my academic adviser

Vo:he cuts in,,,,OK, he schooled there

Meomor,I said,see finishing touches )yes, he got his doctorate degree there... he wanted to cut in,,, me I no gree bcoz that is my strong area.. I continued, He told me how reputable the school is, I went online and did extensive research and confirmed it.

Vo: why are you going for this course

Me: because it is consistent with what I studied at my undergraduate and inline with my professional experience
Vo:so u studied chemistry
Me:yes
Vo:so you have been teaching in a high school(reading from ds160)
Me:yes,for over seven years, (he nodded)
Vo:why are you going for this course NOW
ME:i discussed with my proprietress, 4 years ago about my career plan which is 4-2-4 formation ( I come dey form arsene wenger) 4 years with them, proceed for two years masters, come back for another 4years before going for a lecturing job... (I killed him there)
Vo:tell me about your sponsor
Me:she is my sister, she owns a private school in Lagos and owns chemical industry
Vo:did u write gre or gmat
Me:no
Vo:they didn't require them
Me:yes
Vo:what is an isotope(i went blank and pinched my self, are you mad, I come remember the word sorry u are not qualified, na em I just answer... Isotope is simply atoms with the same number of proton but with different number of.... I wan call nucleus,,, neutron just comot my mouth....

The magic word came forth.... I will be approving your visa... Bla blabla

I came back and was looking for my passport, na me I remember say the man dey with am

Be confident ,always find a way to relate ur proposed course with ur undergraduate course and ur professional experience... Make sure u have lasted in your place of work...above all PRAYER IS KEY... I told God to put 'why this course now' in the Vo's mouth

Derz a special way u could hide ur details like saying "I work in a firm dt does... " den include ur job role instead of putting xyz. VO: I will be approving your visa, pick it up in 3 days time, she pick up the white paper and circle a place there, gave it to me with my i20 and said i should keep my i20 safe as will be required at the Port entry. Na so i collect my visa ooo No singles document was asked.


My transcript seems long here but it"s actually less than 4 mins with Vo because she speaks very fast and i also respond very fast as well.

It was God who made it all possible and I thank him immensely.
I have been a follower of this thread and read the old transcripts as advised by great minds of this community. I want to specially thank Bigfrancis21, he is truly beyond description as a friend and helped me a great deal all through the process.

It rained that morning and the security guys were far less concerned to know cold dey nack me dat morning regardless of my tie, lol!!!
The interview was smooth. I was interviewed by an older lady above 40 years on June 29, 2017. She had denied two applicants right in front of me. Well they somehow where not clinical during their interview, one guy was speaking phonetics with her while the other lady was busy saying she applied one school because her aunty leaves close to the school.
Mine lasted less than 3mins. I didn’t have smile on me that morning, reasons I don’t know why. Not typical me.
I walked up to her, no smiles on my face at least not after the rain don nama me wella and my glasses had bubbles on it.
ME: I greeted her sharply as she is elderly, no smiles on my face and passed my Passport alongside I20
VO: she typed and turned with no single line of smile or grin in her face and asked when did you finish
High school
ME: 2007
VO: Bachelors?
ME: 2012
VO: what have you been doing since then?
ME: I have worked a couple of places but I currently work in an ISP company in lagos as a Technical
Support Engineer and my current work experience motivated me to pursue further studies in
cybersecurity (I was pretty fast in reply but she cuts in)
VO: **Cuts in; how many schools did you apply?
ME: three. Apart from Umd, University of Texas ElPaso and Morgan State university
VO: how many acceptable?
ME: I got offer from UTELP but a decline from MSU
VO: Why do you choose University of Maryland?
ME: Because UMD is one of the top 25 best university in Engineering in US and have one of the best
Cybersecurity centre ***

Have you checked if your school accepts external insurance policies as long as it meets certain requirements firstly? Usually, that is much cheaper as you've probably already seen. ISOA is cheap and okay..There are other ones too. Do your research and post what you see here.

And for the jeans, buy your stuff from Nigeria if you can, at least till you get fully settled except you want Walmart Faded glory jeans

Well, my take is different. The time frame, Type of Job and job description is quite what the DS160 is all about in my own opinion... And you'll understand why some people are being denied based on the info on their DS160 which is what they'll use to interview you in most cases... And believe me, I doubt there's any way anyone can figure out who someone is just be reading their transcript and their Nairaland username.... besides, of what relevance is the info to me?!!! We post transcripts here to help fellow students get admitted like we have. why limit the help that was provided to us on a platter in full... it's my opinion sha o...

After asking if i have used another name or travel to a certain island .. which i clearly havnt ...

Congratulations. I had a similar encounter with those scoundrels in uniform. I think those going for interview should be careful. It seems waiting at he Keke bus stop for unsuspecting victims is their modus operandi.

Guys, please i would like to know how long it takes to have WES evaluation done.

After your certificate and transcript are received at their end, they will send a request for verification of transcript to your former school. You may need to inform your school and initiate the reply/verification. Once your school verifies, WES would proceed to evaluate and send copies. Evaluation and sending to recipients are estimated to be completed writhing 3-4working days.

Your school should give the best answer. Duke deferred my admission from Fall 2017 till Fall 2019 and asked me to use the two years to find funding.
