To me, the issues lie in the bolded. The VO felt what you are going to study is in no way related to your "career", not because you tried to correct her. As a matter of fact, I believe why she stopped you from correcting her was because she felt that aspect is trivial. For her the main issue is, "Why is he going to another country to spend time and money on a masters program that has nothing to do with his career?" And that was why she asked you the question @ the last bolded. Your reply to her that you would return to work in a telecom company as a data analyst didn't convince her. In naija parlance, she go feel say na wash... else you would be working there now or someplace similar. Else you would currently be in that field or career, instead of your dad's construction/merchant company. From the foregoing, she may conclude you don't intend to return home afterwards or that you are not a genuine student.

Try to work on that career aspect next time and you'll be fine. you don't have to change it (to avoid issues due to inconsistency). You just need to come up with cogent reasons why you want to study something completely different from your current 'career'. You may talk about your passion and any past accomplishments in that field and how you intend to build on that. You may mention online courses you have taken to show your passion, or something else. you may mention your internships in the telecom field (you have any?) So get creative. Don't lie, just get creative.
thanks sir... I really appreciate.

Anything is possible. A second class GPA can be 2.5 or it can be 3.46. So it's better to be specific, also you'll need to take standardized test like GRE and TOEFL (Depending on the requirements of the school).

Aim towards Fall 2018 (August); so you have lots of time between now and then for researching and deciding on a school, writing any tests, applying and - hopefully- getting assistantships or scholarships. Don't waste it.

Visa Approved on the 20th of July, 2017 at Lagos Consulate.

VO: Good morning and pass me your passport and i-20.

Me: Good morning and I obliged.

VO: Types for some seconds and then asks what are you going to do in the US

Me: I am going for my Masters of science in Chemistry program

VO: What was your undergraduate course in

Me: Biochemistry

VO: Okay, so tell me why you chose to study Chemistry for your masters program]

Me: At this point I started stammering because I didn't expect this question but I kept calm, cleared my throat and then said; I currently work with a bottling company which produces milk flavored drinks as a quality assurance personnel and Intend coming back to apply for a senior post at my current place of work and hopefully establish my own bottling company at the long run, thus going for my master in Chemistry will prepare me adequately for this.

VO: Nods and says ok, then asked how many schools I applied to.

Me: Three other schools which are UNM, UT In Dallas, Uni of central Missouri and MSWU.

VO: How many admits

Me: Two and I named them.

VO: Why did you choose this school

Me: I chose this school because their MAS-Chemistry program is a recognized Professional Masters program which combines advanced training in chemistry with other courses in business, economics, decision making and communication which is what I need to achieve my future ambitions when I am back in Nigeria.

VO: How will this course help your career

Me: It will help refine my technical and professional skills which I need in...(VO cuts in)

VO: Where did you say you work again

Me: I mentioned

VO: Whats your post and your duties

Me: I am a quality assurance personnel and my duties are.....mentioned all the way I stated it in my DS form( At this point I started doubting if he was gonna approve my visa because I stuttered a bit but got a hold of myself again)

VO: Nods and asked how the tuition fee would be paid

Me: My mum would be paying and she is a building contractor, sells building and electrical materials to both public and private companies and she owns chains of stores across 5 states

VO: How many stores does she have

Me: 20

VO: I would be approving your visa sir,...( I just went blank and didn't hear what he was saying, all I know was he circled one address on the white paper and passed it to me)

Me: Thank you sir and I stepped out.

I was delighted to the extent that I took the wrong way out of the embassy, had to take a bike at Ozumba Mbadiwe road back to the main entrance where I parked my car.

Special thanks to texrem, walspring and the other gurus out here. Texrem created time where there was none even though I wasn't keeping to time whenever we fix one for a mock interview. We only did one last night and honestly I thought I wasn't prepared enough but he told me I did well and would do well. So I kept calm was optimistic.

Good evening everyone.

My visa delayed at Abuja embassy yesterday 19th July by an african-american lady probably in her early to mid 30s

See below my transcripts- Kindly let me know what part I Bleeped and how i can do better next time

Vo: good morning
Me: good morning, how are you today?
Vo: can I av ur passport nd I-20
Me: I obliged
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: Am going to the US for my masters in public health at Georgia Southern University
Vo: why Georgia Southern university
Me: Asides the fact that Georgia Southern University has a great program curriculum that fits my graduate study needs, I am particularly interested in an on-going research real healthcare reforms focusing on primary care access in under-served population and the rural areas of which my community is presently underserved health wise. This will help me address the healthcare challenges when i return back home (Honestly she wasn't listening because she just kept typing and nodding till she noticed i had finished answering her question)
Vo: what do you do currently?
Me: I work with a health consulting firm as a public health specialist on the CDC/PEPFAR funded ACTION Plus up program where i support over 50 private health facilities in delivering quality HIV/AIDS services to people infected and affected by the disease. I also build the capacity of the health facility staff on proper monitoring of HIV patients. (she was nodding again and staring at her screen so i just thought she was seeing it on my DS160- well guess i was wrong)
Vo: who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My brother and my mum
Vo: (She calls his name because it's on my I-20) what does he do and your mum too?
Me: He works with the federal department of transport and he is also in the US army while my mum is senior lecture in one of the higher institutions in nigeria
Vo: Do you have his account statement with you?
Me: Yes i do
Vo: Can I see it? and your mums' to if you have it
Me: Pass the account statements to her
VO: (She looks at my brother's statement) why will he be willing to use all his savings to pay for your tuition?
Me: My mum will be supporting him with the tuition, so he wont be paying all alone (In my mind, what if he decides to use his whole savings sha)
VO: Your mum doesn't seem to have enough as well to cover for one year tuition
Me: Like i said earlier the one year tuition will come from both parties and not just one person. I also have savings myself
VO: I will be putting your application under administrative processing for now, She hands me the yellow paper and writes admin processing on it
Me: How long before a decision is made? Meanwhile she kept both financial statements and my passport with her, but returned my I-20
VO: I can't tell, but you will receive an email in that regards
Me: Thank you. (Then started to head out)

Feeling very disappointed i called my people and told them the outcome of the interview and they were very positive that they (VOs) probably needed to do more verification on the accounts i presented. A few hours letter, my mum confirmed from her account manager that an email came from the Embassy regarding her account statement i presented. Well my bro did not get any verification on his account.

BTW..... I saw about 6 applicants but i can't for sure say any of us got an approval yesterday

Today i decided to check my passport status since i was yet to receive any email as to what next, i saw a REFUSAL

I would be reapplying again but most likely lagos this time. Kindly go through my transcripts and let me know what i can do better next time

Hello Good evening
I earlier sent a message but got no reply. I would like to transfer to a US varsity come January 2018 cause by then I should have completed 46 credits which qualifies me for a transfer.

hello house i need help i didn't Finished filling my ds 160 only copied my confirmation number and quickly used that in processing my appointment so as to get a good date,

eventually couldn't get a good date so i applied for expedite appointment now it has been approved and appointment date changed.

so i wanted to login back into my ds 160 to get all done but couldn't gain access showing the following :

Surname does not match.
Year of Birth does not match.
The answer for the security question is incorrect.

so i think my best option is filling another ds160 now i cant cancel and rebook appointment as it can only be done twice.

please what can i do so that my appointment confirmation can carry my new DS160 Confirmation number?

i know i can update profile on appointment booking portal but dont know if that will make things work fine.

please help is needed on what to do.

thanks in anticipation

You better book now. Check www.wakanow.com or www.travelbeta.com or www.travelstart.com.ng

Or alternatively you can PM Walspring to see if he has other good deals. I had to pay 531k + to California. I have not still recovered from that payment, it pinches me each time I remeber I would have booked earlier even before my visa was approved (Faith).

I wish you haven't pay, i just saw a better deal and its 480k plus. I called your number after sending you that text but switched off and not reachable..

please gurus in the house, I kinda need your help and clarification badly.

My issue is, I once complained about the fact that my DS-160 has some missing question such as departure date from US, TRAVEL HISTORY, UNIVERSITY EDUCATION, LANGUAGES.... I was able to find out that this were missing in my own cos a friend of mine who we are both going to same school has those question in his own.

Walspring adviced i use another browser or prolly fill another DS 160 form since I havent submitted. So after much attempt i filled another DS-160 form but still same issue and eventually i submitted like that. It was afterwards I knew i was suppose to pay my visa fees before filling the DS 160 form.

Please my question is can it be because I didnt pay my visa fees initially before filling the DS-160 form was the reason for those missing questions? Now that I have submitted, I know i cannot do anythig about it again. However can the gurus in the house please advise me on the next step I can take to remedy the mistake. I am thinking of making payment tomorrow. Please can I be advised accordingly?

Thanks in anticipation of your response

The only missing stuff that occur sometimes on ceac.state.gov is the present educational form.. I guess you tick something else because you wont be allow to next page if the bold aspect above is not there when you picked Academic F1

In as much as I'm in support of oludare.. I don't get ur point sir.. it is normal to feel unsafe esp if you've been scammed.. there're a lot of thieves out there.. don't blame the ones with trust issues .. that might actually be their last cash and for what reason? To be scammed at the later run..
just like oludare said.. if you have trust issues don't message him.. if you're willing to risk it .. fine..

Lol... grin grin grin.. I am telling him past experience and is that a bad thing

Anyway I tagged it as normal that leads to abnormal because they already took the risk then why feeling unsafe

Why coming to someone for help but yet having negative thoughts about the person on the help you are requesting for??

They forgot that not everyone are the same. Only those with the fear of God will not scam or run away with such

I can never forget this guy on this thread with user name streetmic

Streetmic send me pm i mixed your contact with someone else..
