Hello guys,
I must commend the gurus and everyone for their relentless efforts towards making this trend a useful tool for prospective students. I have been a silent follower of this trend for over a month now. I will going for my masters degree in industrial engineering (fall 2017). My interview is scheduled to hold on the 7th of August at abj consulate. I would appreciate a mock interview. Pls anyone? ... Tnx.

hello house i need help i didn't Finished filling my ds 160 only copied my confirmation number and quickly used that in processing my appointment so as to get a good date,

eventually couldn't get a good date so i applied for expedite appointment now it has been approved and appointment date changed.

Anything is possible. A second class GPA can be 2.5 or it can be 3.46. So it's better to be specific, also you'll need to take standardized test like GRE and TOEFL (Depending on the requirements of the school).
CGPA of 2.9956 in a reputable federal government university . So you mean it is possible if i put in all efforts.? I believe I can be very successful in GRE. I am so motivated to correct the mistakes during my UG.

Thanks for your reply

With your GPA, you'll hit 3.something after evaluation so yes its very very possible if you blast GRE and TOEFL. All the best

Vo: did you write any tests?
Me: I wrote the TOEFL test,GRE was not a required for env.engineering at WSU
Vo: How many schools did you apply to
Me: three schools, Eku,WSU and university of Sheffield on d uk
Vote: nodding and typing but glances at me once in a while. Then asked who is paying
Me: I am a beneficiary of a Federal government scholarship and my guardian will pay the rest

Greetings to everyone here.
Please I have a question for those who have used WES.
Does WES also ask for Diploma transcripts for those who did direct entry to get their first degree ?
Please I need opinion from those who have the experience

I am at this stage presently. Yes, WES will need your ND Transcript together with your B.Sc to make up for 4yrs of University study.

Hello Everyone,
This is me begging for an answer (i have checked google, and i've searched nairaland thread) still no cogent answers
How much is WES, some says $205, i just saw $249 on the payment info page, i honestly thought $205 included 1 evaluation report to a school but there is no option for that. I can only see "additional recipient" when filling the services and fees page.

Thank you everyone

It is $205 with $7 standard delivery fee making $212. Instead of your home address put the school address you want to send it to. Additional recipient is $30 with $7 standard delivery making $37. I hope this help. Cheers.

Good evening everyone.

My visa delayed at Abuja embassy yesterday 19th July by an african-american lady probably in her early to mid 30s

See below my transcripts- Kindly let me know what part I Bleeped and how i can do better next time

Vo: good morning
Me: good morning, how are you today?
Vo: can I av ur passport nd I-20
Me: I obliged
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: Am going to the US for my masters in public health at Georgia Southern University
Vo: why Georgia Southern university
Me: Asides the fact that Georgia Southern University has a great program curriculum that fits my graduate study needs, I am particularly interested in an on-going research real healthcare reforms focusing on primary care access in under-served population and the rural areas of which my community is presently underserved health wise. This will help me address the healthcare challenges when i return back home (Honestly she wasn't listening because she just kept typing and nodding till she noticed i had finished answering her question)
Vo: what do you do currently?
Me: I work with a health consulting firm as a public health specialist on the CDC/PEPFAR funded ACTION Plus up program where i support over 50 private health facilities in delivering quality HIV/AIDS services to people infected and affected by the disease. I also build the capacity of the health facility staff on proper monitoring of HIV patients. (she was nodding again and staring at her screen so i just thought she was seeing it on my DS160- well guess i was wrong)
Vo: who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My brother and my mum
Vo: (She calls his name because it's on my I-20) what does he do and your mum too?
Me: He works with the federal department of transport and he is also in the US army while my mum is senior lecture in one of the higher institutions in nigeria
Vo: Do you have his account statement with you?
Me: Yes i do
Vo: Can I see it? and your mums' to if you have it
Me: Pass the account statements to her
VO: (She looks at my brother's statement) why will he be willing to use all his savings to pay for your tuition?
Me: My mum will be supporting him with the tuition, so he wont be paying all alone (In my mind, what if he decides to use his whole savings sha)
VO: Your mum doesn't seem to have enough as well to cover for one year tuition
Me: Like i said earlier the one year tuition will come from both parties and not just one person. I also have savings myself
VO: I will be putting your application under administrative processing for now, She hands me the yellow paper and writes admin processing on it
Me: How long before a decision is made? Meanwhile she kept both financial statements and my passport with her, but returned my I-20
VO: I can't tell, but you will receive an email in that regards
Me: Thank you. (Then started to head out)

Feeling very disappointed i called my people and told them the outcome of the interview and they were very positive that they (VOs) probably needed to do more verification on the accounts i presented. A few hours letter, my mum confirmed from her account manager that an email came from the Embassy regarding her account statement i presented. Well my bro did not get any verification on his account.

BTW..... I saw about 6 applicants but i can't for sure say any of us got an approval yesterday

Today i decided to check my passport status since i was yet to receive any email as to what next, i saw a REFUSAL

I would be reapplying again but most likely lagos this time. Kindly go through my transcripts and let me know what i can do better next time

Abuja again. Lagosismyhome will call them world people. My brother nothing is wrong with your responses. Her only issue was with the statement. go to lagos and if possible, add that three of you will be sharing the burden, then get your own personal statement too. You may also get letter from your mum and brother stating that they are willing to sponsor you to any extent you need, and get a lawyer to notarize the letters. This may not be needed and the lagos people may not even ask you of any document, but just in case. You really can't have too much documents.

How did you manage to get your surname wrong, your own date of birth wrong, and forgot the important security question you should have written down since you were warned by the page that it is the ultimate gatekeeper of your form?

to the best of my knowledge, once you have booked appointment, what they know is that DS 160 number you used. Updating your profile won't change anything on their end. Since you have used up your rescheduling options, you will either have to send the embassy a mail and see if that will work or just pay another 64k for another appointment. You may ask them. They have a thread on NL where they respond to queries so go there and repost your question.

So today I got to Walter C. by past 6am for 8.00am appointment and ignored all those hustlers and their warnings that one can't drive beyond a certain point. I gave one mobile policeman my phone and joined the mammoth, shapeless queue.

I was interviewed by the handsome bearded dude at window 4. He looked nice and smiled occasionally and I wished I ended up with him. Then, with that same cute smile, he denied a nice couple that seemed to have their act together. I briefly wished I ended up elsewhere. Next thing, I was directed to that guy's window. I think he denied the lady before me too... not sure. But I had learned by now that his smile is like a professional mask he wears, and not an indication of approval, satisfaction or anything similar. All this while, my subconscious kept praying.

Fast forward to my interview:

VO: Good morning, how are you? (with that cute smile)

Me: I'm very well, thank you; and you?

VO: I'm fine. Pass me your i-20 please? And your passport.

(I oblige)

VO: Thank you. (another cute smile)

VO: Tell me about your school (

Me: Purdue University is...

VO: (cuts in) Yeah.. (probably thinking I was repeating my school for confirmation. And he said yeah without looking at my i-20 so he must have had something about me on his screen, like DS 160 or previous interview in Abj)

Me: Purdue University is a great school with a very industry-focused course outline for her Mechanical Engineering program. I say its great because her engineering faculty consistently rank among the best in the country and the world. I also got a research assistantship from the school and that helped me make up my mind to settle for this institution. (sounding confident, looking at him eyeball to eyeball whenever he raises his face to meet mine. However my voice quavered a bit as a I tried to slow down so as not to hamper my articulation).

VO: Okay. So how many schools did you apply to?

Me: 2 schools.

VO: And they are?

Me: Purdue University and Cranfield University.

VO: How many admitted you?

Me: Both admitted me.

VO: (glances at me)

(I was expected the usual followup - "So why did you choose Purdue?" or "Why did you choose to school in the US?", but he excused himself to talk to his colleague about something unrelated to my interview, a fellow VO that came to his side. He soon returned his attention to me and beamed me a smile. I beamed back.)

VO: So why do you think you got this assistantship?

Me: I believe the professor was very impressed with my test scores, statement of purpose and other aspects of my application package. (pause... I wanted to add my test scores of 110 in TOEFL and 318 in GRE, but decided to tow another line, so continued thus..) I also reached out to the professor to indicate interest to join his research team. (Then I proceeded to tell him one of the prof's research interests)

VO: (nodding and typing) Okay.

VO: (looks up) Where did you have your undergraduate degree?

Me: FUTO. Federal University of Technology Owerri.

VO: You studied Engineering in your first degree?

Me: Yes, Chemical Engineering.

VO: Okay. Okay.

VO: Who would be sponsoring you?

Me: I got a research assistantship and my uncle's company would foot any balance.

VO: What does your uncle do?

Me: (in my mind, I said uncle's company o. I know say you hear me well.) He is into the importation of this and exportation of that.

VO: Okay.

VO: (types for a while, then another cute smile..) your visa has been approved. You'll be picking it in... usually it doesn't take more than 3 working days but then... bla bla... bla bla bla... bla bla...

I smiled back at him, thanked him, told him God bless him and left. Went to the mopol holding my phone, gave him and one lady police there #500 and told them to keep the change and left. Saw Ngozi Ezeonu on a queue and felt like me sef don become star too. Switched on my phone and sent a text message of faith I composed to my family days ago, that I have gotten the visa.

Then, for the first time today, I realised I was very hungry.

NB: No single document was asked of me. Also, I went with the same company financial statement that the man in Abj for illogical reasons delayed my visa. But God opens doors no man can shut.

Some people were saying I should have said over a 100 employees then (someone even cast aspersions on my intellect, something about what any smart person should have said). Recall that the issue the man had with the statement was that the balance he was seeing may include money for paying staff and buying supplies. If I had said a large company of over 100 staff, he may have argued that lots of staff would need to be paid from the statement's balance + lots of supplies. And I didn't want to say less than 20 so he wouldn't feel it may be a small company with just one very good year. So at that instant, "I'm not sure" seemed kinda safe to me, as I don't work in the man's company. Like I said, these interviews are highly subjective and that Abj man was just difficult for no good reason. Thank God for everything shaa

I thank everyone who have been contributing to this thread - lagosismyhome, texrem, imperioux, admin justwise (else they for don derail this thread since) etc, and all who have shared their transcripts, both successful and delayed. You all rock. I shall frequent here to help others too.

Tips remain the same: maintain eye contact, appear confident and genuine but not arrogant, know your stuff, be audible and articulate.
Congrats bro. Welcome to amelika

Of course but I guess it was used here for some folks and is particularly not good.

This is this family I know when I was doing my NYSC because I used to wear funny uniform and some particular kind of people would aways come to the house to see me. Whenever this woman uses us, she would say "world people" I told her to check her daughters that they are " the world people" not me, not even my friends.

Out of the blue, she asked me why. I said watch closely your two daughters. They sleep around passionately like call girls. They're gone. Totally gone! One later became pregnant for her church pastor, the same woman who call folks "world people" had to relocate her to another state in order to avoid people knowing, while the other one was expelled from school due to the fact that she used fake documents to procure admission.

So, who are the world people actually? Hope you can answer that now.
