Lets say, they can't play in Kano... What about Abuja, Lagos, Uyo etc
Of you feel the north is safer why would they come to Lagos or Uyo?

If you consider Northern Nigeria safe enough for Manchester United to have a tour from Sokoto, to Kaduna to Jos, To Kano and to Maiduguri good luck.
And be kind enough to accompany them. Loz!
Sokoto is one of the safest places in Nigeria. No religious crisis or conflicts and less crime. Not even when other parts of the North are boiling. Sokoto has remained fairly stable. Apart from the extreme heat, it will host teams with no issues.

Ofcourse, places like maiduguri are no go because of Boko Haram.

You made the comment about safety and Boko Haram. Boko Haram operates mainly in parts of the north east. There has never been BH attack in Sokoto for instance.

Teams can go to Lagos and Abuja as part of a tour of Nigeria. It is certainly feasible.

sir that's not what I mean....
you always so concerned about the now...
the truth is agu have defaulted in his job...
why keep inviting a goalkeeper who is not even a first choice goalie for his NPFL club side...let alone among the top 5 best goalie in the domestic league
keshi did same thing on us...with agbim.
I so much hate these practices of indigenous coaches not always fair wit their team selection.
the reason for scouting for a good goalie from the domestic scene would have been his gradual integration into the team, instilling of confidence and provide room for competition wit the likes of alampasu.....and groom for the future.....
let's say 2-3 years from now.
I understand you perfectly. But don't you think the now is more important than that 2-3 years you are talking about?

We need a goalie to mount the post against Cameroon and I don't see Any NPFL goalie not even Ezenwa that can do that job. Let's be sincere about this.

Like it or not Daniel Akpeyi is our first choice goalie presently. Though I am not too comfortable with that but that is just the reality on ground.

sir....I rather take the risk of the best NPFL manning the post against Cameroon than let akpeyi man that post ...
he lacks confidence... you can see it clearly in his face....alampasu will even do better to be honest...
we need a brave goalie against Cameroon...
my take on the matter...being that rohr will likely not thread the risk... I wrote above...is to let objectivity thrives in his team selection against Cameroon ...let the best goalie in camp man the post.....should it be alampasu ..let him man the post don't deny him his chance all because of he is inexperienced....
playing against Cameroon demands courage and bravery....
I remember osazi outing against the indomitable lions in 2004 afcon in Tunisia... though he was inexperienced but his bravery and courage was revealed in that match

Bros Daniel Akpeyi is first choice to mount goal against Cameroon. That is the reality.

You want to throw in a debutant NPFL goalie in a do or die game and you feel the keeper will command more confidence than Akpeyi. Bros... OK o.

And your comparison of Osaze in this case tells a lot.
You feel selection of a goalie is as light weighted as selection of a striker? That you'll just go and bring one new goalkeeper and field him against Cameroon.

As for Alampasu, in your words: 'because he is inexperienced', I just shake my head.

Says who? Are foreigners not entering and leaving Kano daily?

What does it take to visit and play in Kano? Worse become worse, military men are drafted to provide security at the stadium and escort them too.

Let's be mindful of how we just drop comments on public forum, someone not from the country would read and think Isis is the one running Kano.

Icon4s:
I was just giving reasons why Manunited could visit Kano in 2008 but cannot do that in 2017.

You will take Man United to Sokoto to go and play pre-season tour. I hope you'll escort them?

The world is a global village.

Things have changed between that 2008 to now.

Football is meant to be played in a peaceful and exciting atmosphere. I cannot go to a stadium that will need to be heavily guarded by armed security men. Will the security men follow me to the parking areas. or my car or train home.

Please I have made my point.

That has changed a lot though. BH attacks for the past year has been limited to Borno. Even Elkanemi has returned to Borno for their home games.

Foreigners work and live in these states. Infact, all the tour games can be located in one stadium.

The original poster mentioned Tanzania (a country), someone reminded him of a similar stuff that occurred in Nigeria (Kano), you claimed that was then, even if the whole 19 States in the north is under war in your eyes, what about other parts of Nigeria? Can't Uyo host whatever Tour that any foreign club wants to do? Let's stop all this downgrading we do jare and be fair for once!

I maintain that Sokoto is one of the safest and most hospitable places in the country. Apart from the extreme heat, it will make a great host for a tour. Nigerians often project this image of insecurity that is often not true in reality

I was only reacting to a comment that the North is safer than the South I terms of hosting such games/tours.

As I said before the world is a global village. They see things and they here things.

An average English man does not know the distance between Maiduguri and Uyo. So don't blame any EPL team that chooses to play in Tanzania instead of Nigeria.

my point is that Japan and South Korea did not go the extent of China (saying the same thing), but they have always fared better. The truth is the Chinese sports culture focuses more on sports like gymnastics. Hence, most of their best athletes were least likely to choose football/soccer. How do you get your best talents in football when most opt to play other sports?
So i'm just saying that S. Korea and Japan always produced better players in football compared to China, which is why they have always been ahead.
The Chinese government's new fanatism in trying to make China a powerhouse in football at all costs will not pay dividends even in the mid-term run (And i'm talking a century). Some countries don't just cut it football talent wise.

England have always had a great football culture and a wonderful league but are still yet to DREAM of winning the World Cup. Take note that winning the World Cup is in question here (you brought it up).

Talking about Spain. Come on now! Like I said if you got me, some countries can do all they want but they will have to wait centuries. Other countries can achieve it considerably in a far less time with investments in their league.. because they have other factors pointing to their favor.

Nigeria is one country that always have the potential (and i'm not saying this because I'm a Nigerian). Come to think of it, we put our all in football, but the only one thing stopping us is a better league/development structure. Need I say we have been dreaming of winning the world cup? It's always been a realistic dream.

goldfish80:
I appreciate your points but the truth is that what the Chinese are doing cannot be compared with what these countries you listed attempted.

If it was a sexual escaped, it will be considered very dry and apologetic if you try to connect what the Koreans and Japanese attempted with that of China.

The case of England is like that of the famous under achieving Spain and Portugal. Their time to shine will come.

You are correct in this regard.

Nigeria has serious security issues across the country but it is not that bad that tours can't be held here. Even if it is in the southern part of the country.

With all the Nigerian support for the EPL, it is not fair that no team has had a tour in Nigeria.

It's not as bad as you make it sound though.

I say this to you void of lies or any form of fallacy. Everyday, I got out I meet with white people, let me exclude the Indians and the Lebanese, those ones act like Nigerians already.

I'm talking about European and American kids even schooling here in the North.

Sir icon4s, it was really funny when I came across an American woman speaking English with the Nigerian accent. "it's hot o" ohhhhhhhhh. "you don't want me to buy yam from you abi?" They live comfortably here.

The media sure have a way of exaggerating stuffs, making it seem as if we are living in a hell hole with bombs going off every minute.
