The tenor usually auctioned in primary market is 91,182 & 364 days but if you are lucky, you can get that exact days or something close in the secondary market. The rate available is given to you by the financial institution you invest with/through.

First Bank amongst the three you metioned USUALLY have the highest TB rates BUT STANBIC USUALLY out perform ALL.

At the secondary market, FIRST USUALLY come first and STAMBIC too is not bad.

My brother....Access Bank debited my account today...but they charged custodian fee of N2013.7 and N100 processing fee....Is that custodian fee within good range? Though I feel its nothing

It's difficult to know if it's fair because we don't know the amount you invested.

All I know is that STANBIC charges just a little less than N50 for 400k, a little less than N500 for both 1m & 2m.

Pls don't say "it's nothing". N2,913.7 is something. If others charge less, why stay with them? For charity? If you owe them N5 mistakenly, they will collect it and charge you interest on overdraft.

Yes it is within your range, for all I have done, transaction fee is constant at #300.

But safe keeping fee and commission amount varies with principal.

That's what Stanbic charges. That's what they charged me for the auction before the last one and even the one before that.

The N100 for comml is the commission charged for the transaction. I think they charge about N49 + some fractions for transactions less than 500k as Safe keeping or custodian fees while they charge N498.63 for transactions above 1m and up to N2m

The initial details of the transaction sent to me dated 19th June 2017 stated the Safe keeping fee as N124.66 but on 28th June it was changed to N498.63 which is a lot better than Access Bank that allegedly charged N2013.7. A friend who invested 1m was initially charged N249.32 on 19th June 2017 but also had his changed to N498.63 on 28th June 2017.

There are penalties in Both...
In fixed deposit, if you terminate before the maturity date,you will be charged 20% from your principal and you will also loose your interest....
In treasury bills,you will loose all your upfront Interest..,you will also be charged a certain percentage from your principal...
It's wise never to terminate Treasury bills or Fixed deposit before maturity.....the penalties are so annoying..
Make your plans well,make sure you have spare finances for emergency situations that may occur...
Treasury bills rocks..,Best interest rates.....And most secured...Unlike fixed deposit that you are at the mercy of your Accounting Officer....
Avoid fixed deposit and thank God later....

I have done premature termination of Treasury Bill on several occasions, your loss is minimal. The money to be paid back will be prorated and if your interest was invested along with the capital, the interest will be discounted.

The good thing about TB is the liquidity because when you terminate before maturity the fund will hit your account by 4pm.

This thread is for Money market instrument (most especially Treasury Bill) and we should leave it at that.

But it is good if we are informed about other legitimate investment opportunities.
In the money market, I don't know how many of us know about Commercial papers.
In the capital market, most people only know about shares not knowing anything about bonds.

I have been buying shares for about 20 years, investing in real estate for about 10 years , got to know about the opportunities in the money market about 2 years ago.

One smart thing to do with Treasury Bill investment is to stagger the maturity period. I have Treasury Bills that mature in February, May, August and November.

I am expecting interim dividends from UBA, Zenith, Access in July/August and Final dividend from Fedex in August. The matured TB plus the dividends will be reinvested back to buy another 364 days TB, while the upfront interest will be diversified back into the stock market.
