That's how we greet each other in my family, hug and kisses on both cheeks. There is nothing sinister about it but then I see a lot of "bush mentality" and as well as many inert insecurities prevail what's the point of violence?

Intimacy has nothing to do with it. It's you who has misconstrued the intentions.
Kissing on one or both cheeks done by both men and women is cordial it's a greeting and it's not intimacy related. Unfamiliar to you perhaps yes, don't bulk at the unfamiliar because you could be put in that situation. No different to hugs.
