bros e tire me. akpeyi that was even second choice at the rio olympics what sense does it make that he is the super eagles number 1 when he couldn't even displace an u23 goalkeeper. i find it even funnier that to defend akpeyi some people are bringing out old mistakes and unrelated performances of ikeme to justify akpeyi's poor form TheGoodJoe: |

goldfish80:Akpeyi is not it. We should not use sentiments when selecting players, that's the problem I have with our local coaches, Aloy Agu chose him on the day and Rohr being a professional relied on his judgement which was flawed. Read somewhere the NFF has appointed another goal keeper trainer to work or it Agu based on Rohrs recommendation. Akpeyi has no business in that team. He will not be called up against Cameroon. |

Even the much celebrated Abiodun Baruwa of 3SC fame was in the bench when young Joeseph Dosu was in goal for Nigeria at the Atlanta Olympics. Who later became SE's first choice after the olympics? - Dosu of course. Like I said the days of Akpeyi is numbered in SE. I won't be surprised when he becomes 3rd choice by year end chrisooblog: |

Truidstar:Granted Akpeyi is not world class but can you do me a favour, point out those "blunders" of his that cost us games he have manned the post. If you struggle to list those obvious errors that lead to goals then you're being unfair, shall we? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:20pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
goldfish80:So do not select based on young or old. Or based on game time or no game time. Those are sentimental choices. Come up with a strategic indicator system, screen and select the best keepers. The best should mount the goal. |

TheGoodJoe:You're can't be serious. Let's use the world champions as a case study. In their championship winning team, list the bench warmers you know. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:27pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
goldfish80:Continue. With the level of European top teams club level, it is easy for them to find their best players in quality clubs and in starting positions. For Nigerians, it is not the same. You can be a top quality player and find yourself on the bench or trapped in the local League. That is why the National teams serve as a route of exposure to a lot of players. This is pure common sense. |

TheGoodJoe:You honestly expect a team to do well with a make up of bench warmers? In our AFCON winning team of 2013, who and who were bench warmers for their clubs? |

goldfish80:Not blunders but school boy errors, case in point, our match against Algeria, he was flaffing around and a bunch of nerves . Simple balls he should have caught he fluffed. The goal scored by Algeria showed he is not it, a better goal keeper would have made a decent attempt to palm the missile , our dear Akpeyi's spirit was willing but his flesh failed to react. Don't get me started about the match against South Africa. We need to move on. Anyone but Akpeyi. |

Truidstar:supported, but since we hav a new GK trainer, lets see what he can bring out of AKPEYI, cos AGU does not do anytin to charge him up |

do4luv14:agu and yusuf are not serious..... just read somewhere that ezenwa have been made the CHAN eagles captain... meaning he is likely gonna play virtually all the matches thereby depriving the other goalies the Apple time to prove themselves wit the way agu and yusuf are going about it...it means ezenwa and China akas. .... already have their guarantee shirts...they will both make the final list.... serious minded and fair coaches will name their captains after the trimming of the team list....giving all players fair chance to lay claim for their shirt and fight for their place..... |

Some of you guys are horrible....horrible!!! So you have to trash Ikeme just so you can defend Akpeyi? Unbelievable! Listen, every goalkeeper, even the best goalkeeper in the world, makes mistakes. The problem we have with Akpeyi is that he lacks the basic fundamentals of a good goalkeeper. He flaps basic crosses. Can't defend his area. Lacks basic command of his zone. Lacks confidence in goal. You can't see Ikeme making some of the elementary school errors. No one is saying that Carl is world class, but he's totally a class or two above Akpeyi. O pari goldfish80: |

TheGoodJoe:Like as if a scientific indicator is tied to every player's head such that as he is being "drilled" he will be scoring points. If age does not matter why then do we have age grade competitions? Let Iheabacho and Co go and play with U17 players and you have to use a "strategic indicator system" to know who would be better. |

Nwakaeme worked a full shift an scored the first of two goals for Beer Sheva in their 2-0 win over Ludogorets in the 1st leg of Champions Leagu qualification. Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu was also on for Sheva for the entire duration but was cautioned in the dying minutes of the game. In another match, Club Brugge currently lead Baseksihir of Turkey 1-0, thanks to Dennis Bournaventure |

goldfish80: I said our best players in each role. I doubt that is too difficult to understand. |

Icon4s:Oh God of Israel. What do you think scouting and screening processes is about? There are attributes you look out for and drills to select those that meet these attributes. Or you think is by looking at Game time? |

Icon4s:While I am shocked that you do not know that coaches drill players for attributes to make selection. Read this excerpt to hhave a brief knowledge of the coaching process. This has to do with the technological addition to accelerate the process and make it more accurate. Small devices worn on the body monitor key performance metrics such as distance, speed, and heart rate of those who wear it. Boots record player-specific data with an innovative miCoach Speed Cell chip placed in the cavity of the outsole, which captures 360 degree movements. Coaches examine data to analyse where players thrive - and where they need to improve. Note the last line. Heart-rate, distance, speed, sprints-per-session and durability of players had all been scrutinised in great detail in the build-up to the showdown at the Maracana. And, due to the delicately-poised nature of the final - it was 0-0 after 88 minutes - Low turned to his bench, saw his personnel and utilised the data he had at his disposal, claims Norman. Gotze's numbers - he was proved to be more effective during five-on-five sessions - helped Low make the decision to give him the nod. Germany's backroom staff had done the number crunching. They had scrutinised the data. Gotze could make the difference - and so it proved. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2902431/The-technology-Germany-used-win-World-Cup-Premier-League-sides-secret.html On field decisions made from drill sessions on the training pitch. Please keep laughing. |

Icon4s:A coach who can not come up with an evidence based strategy with indicators to pick out the best players for each role, is that one a coach? |

TheGoodJoe:I laugh again. So you think results of such scientific devices are absolute? My brother, selecting players for a match day squad goes way way beyond that. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by do4luv14(m): 9:26pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
Humility017:from start there is nothing to write about Yusuf, but AGU, seriously I dnt know wat his problem is, with the way he goes about AKPEYI it seems as if his hands had been greased |

Icon4s:Hian. Which one is that your saying? I am saying you screen and select players through an indicator based system. You say goes beyond that. If you feel it is beyond that, then you agree it should be there. So what was the laughing about? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:34pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Your absolute dependence on drills and nothing but drills. That is what is funny. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:35pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
Icon4s:It is not just technology. It is about the attributes. The technology just makes picking the attributes easier and more comprehensive. A good example was when Siasia took over the Super Eagles. He invited a large number of players. First thing he did was stamina drills. Put them on high intensity stamina drills and cut out those who could not meet up. That shows he needs players who can work hard on the pitch. Those that scaled through will go through another phase. He continues till he gets the best in each role. It is a system. Not just game time or experience. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:37pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
Icon4s:I ask again. What do you think coaches do on the training pitch for days with the players? Most of the work goes into drills. Next, tactical sessions and then scrimmage games to enact what was thought. So a coach not selecting through drills does not know his job. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Humility017(m): 9:38pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
do4luv14:I won't be surprised if it proves true... I have no trust for these coaches...... I still remember how keshi made again look like world best goalie..... I just don't understand why our indigenous coaches don't dream of one day securing a job possible in Europe or coaching renowed clubs like Chelsea etc using the national team job as a ladder to get to this height |

TheGoodJoe:Same Siasia that preferred parading his boys. I can see you were with them during the "drills". |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:49pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
Icon4s:To you it is just parading the boys but to those who followed the session pointed out how players did not meet up to his routines. So you can keep laughing. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 9:57pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:Like Chikatara, Isaac Success, Aaron Samuel and Fenan Ardi all limped out of training. And left camp with various degrees of injuries. Segun Oduduwa may never play football again because of Siasia's drills. You think I don't understand what drills are? I laugh. So Rohr will have to go and perform drills for all the super eagles potential invitees before drawing a list of those to invite? You say game time and experience do not matter. I just dey look you. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:02pm On Jul 26, 2017 |
Icon4s:I guess I have to explain everything. Why do you think Rohr has a video analyst in his technical crew? This is to used a video based monitoring system to screen players too.. There are other systems to select before you come up with those you will invite to camp. Then those in camp will go through series of drills during the training sessions before you come up with the final list. |
