TheGoodJoe:
“The goalkeeper trainer is expected to train NPFL goalkeepers ahead of the crucial games with Cameroon and there are talks for him to stay after the encounter,” a source is quoted to say by Naija Football Plus.
That is to tell you he's here on an interim capacity. Vanguard reported his contract is for 3 months which indicates he's not here to scout for a new goalkeeper.

there is no jinx in the stadia, the truth is the SE had "SATURDAY" jinx to break permanently, you can go down memory lanes to understand ma point,

We are discussing the selection process for the Super Eagles my friend.
and yet we had been arguing about only GK so far,

lets be clear on something, the new trainer was hired, to drill and trains Npfl keepers, indirectly the SEkeepers too

Chidiebere Nwakali extends Manchester City contract, rejects Norway loan

By admin -
July 27, 2017

SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that Chidiebere Nwakali has extended his Manchester City contract by a year and he will not be returning to Norwegian club Sogndal on loan.

“Chidiebere (Nwakali) has extended his stay with Manchester City by one year. This is in keeping with the law or rules in England”, disclosed Emeka Amajiriaku, chief executive officer of ASJ, the academy from where Chidiebere made his breakthrough.

He also revealed that the 20-year-old midfielder will no longer return to Sogndal on loan.

“His loan deal at Sogndal of Norway has ended and he will no longer be going there again or any team in Norway,” Amajiriaku.

“We are looking at a much stronger league which will help his development.

“Having helped Sogndal during his loan spell there, it is only normal he moves on to bigger things.”

He did not disclose Nwakali’s next career destination but insisted a few options are now being explored.

“We’re working on something. I mean his agent and Manchester City. When things are properly sorted, surely, I’ll get back to you”, he promised.

Chidiebere, he further disclosed, delivered 12 pairs of football boots to the academy on Tuesday.

“It was a pleasant surprise. Chidiebere came to our training ground, donated 12 pairs of match boots, two sets of jerseys and 22 pairs of track suits to the academy,” he disclosed.

“He said it was his own little way of appreciating the academy from where he made his career break through and everyone, the players and officials were very happy with him.”

EXCLUSIVE: It will be CHAN Eagles vs 7 Nigerians of Benin

By Samm Audu -
July 27, 2017

The CHAN Super Eagles could be up against virtually another team of Nigerians should Benin scale a protest by Togo to play next month’s final playoff, SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal today.

There are as many as seven players on the Benin team who edged past Togo in a CHAN 2018 eliminator this month to earn the right to take on Nigeria for a place at the final tournament in Kenya in Janaury.

At least two Nigerians started the second leg match against Togo in Cotonou – Ogoulola Ibrahim and Elegbede Jules – and SCORENigeria has further learnt that several others on the squad were given Benin passports and names even though they are from across the border in Nigeria.

“You will play against another Nigerian team,” warned a top source from Cotonou.

“Many of the players are from Nigeria and they were only given the passports and names of Benin people.

“And after the qualifiers the federation will take back the passports they gave them.”

The source further revealed: “The players we are talking about can hardly speak French, which is the official language in Benin.

“They are simply football mercenaries.”

Nigeria and Benin enjoy close social and economic ties that Nigerian like Razak Omotoyossi, Emmanuel Fabiyi, Isaac Loute and Muri Ogunbiyi have been capped at full international level by Benin

SCORENigeria also got some vital information on the Benin CHAN team.

They are captained by shortish midfielder Mama Seibou, who has already been capped by the full international team and has already undergone Trials in France.

Also, the coach is former international forward Oumar Tchomogo.

hmmmm....my confidence lies in adherence on fairness and transparency in team selection. but wit the likes of alloy and yusuf...I doubt if they've been upholding these principle.
why make a player who is not even the first choice goal keeper for his club...the captain of the CHAN team....
the captain should be named after the treaming of the team

The captain is typically made before or shortly after camp opens. Ezenwa is a senior player among the CHAN players. Nothing wrong with making him captain. He may not necessarily mount goal. But if the coaches deems him fit enough to mount goal who are we to disprove that?

Nigeria draw Sierra Leone, Ghana face Gambia in Wafu Cup draw

Nigeria against Sierra Leone is the pick of the ties to emerge from Thursday’s West African Football Union Cup draw in Accra.

Hosts Ghana, meanwhile, will face Gambia in a daunting tie for a quarter-final place, while Mali will try Mauritania for size.

Cote d’Ivoire meet Togo, while Benin Republic will lock horns with Cape Verde. Also, Senegal will challenge Liberia for a place in the next round.

Ghana, Gambia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Mali , Mauritania, Guinea and Guinea Bissau make up Group A, with Group B comprising of Senegal, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Benin Republic and Cape Verde.

The regional competition organised for home-based professionals will hold between September 9-24, 2016 in a format that will see teams play single games before proceeding to the quarter finals.

Winners of the round robin stage will form Group A & B with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-final.

I think we still need Emenike.

He scored 3 times against Monaco at the Champions League qualification stage last year.
1 assist against eventual Europa League champoins
1 goal against Feyenoord
4 Super Lig goals.

Currently he has one goal from only 2 minutes of game time for Olympiakos in the Champions League. I think he still has it. Plus, he is big, fast and experienced. Emenike-Iheanacho pairing against Cameroon. My people, over to you.

Enyeama and Emenike should call off their retirement. Together with returnees Mikel, Moses and Balogun, and new boy Ola Aina, I think we are good to go with the rest of the regulars.

The same Emenike that had a goal drought stretching back to 2013. Abeg abeg, experience doesn't always help. His performance for his club is no guarantee that he will blow again in the super eagles team

Hmmm! Emenike sha? now he scored a couple of goals since 2013 nations cup and suddenly a clamour? We need to learn on building on what we have presently. Emenike has been MIA goal wise, practically thrown out of his clubs. Didnt do well to stay in the premiership, neither did he do well with the turkish clubs he was with. Asking him to be part of this present team is like taking 1 step forward and 6steps backward. Personally, i am for progressive soccer. Even if he has the best goal to game ratio, i think he is bad news for Super Eagles.

Turkish League stats
Season starts goals assists
16/17 Süper Lig Süper Lig Fenerbahce SK 16 4 4
14/15 Süper Lig Süper Lig Fenerbahce SK 27 4 4
13/14 Süper Lig Süper Lig Fenerbahce SK 28 12 9
10/11 Süper Lig Süper Lig Kardemir D.C. 23 14 4

Emenike has never been a high goal scorer. Not withstanding, he has done pretty well in SE colors. Scoring two goals at home to Monaco and one away at the Champions League last year shows his class.
Everybody knows he had a hard time in Turkey. I think his presence, physicality, speed, experience and good return at the big stage is what we need especially now against Cameroon. Going forward, that's another matter.

Chinedu Obasi returns to Swedish club AIK after Chinese fiasco

By admin -
July 26, 2017

Former Eagles star Chinedu Obasi has returned to Swedish club AIK till the end of the season after a premature end to his time at Chinese second division club Shenzhen FC.

The Swedish club announced his capture on their website.

“We have followed Obasi since leaving the club last season. After quitting China, the discussions intensified and we are very proud and happy that he chose to return to us,” said AIK sports director Bjorn Wesstrom.

“Discussions about a longer agreement have taken place, but at present, we will go with the terms already agreed.

“There is a stated ambition by both parties for an extension.

“This short-term deal gives both parties a chance to re-evaluate the situation.”

Chinedu Obasi quits China

The 31-year-old Obasi enjoyed a short but successful stint at AIK last year.

He has been handed jersey No 20 and he is expected latest Tuesday, August 1.

AIK are seven points behind leaders Malmo FF but have a game in hand.

Katsina United to pay skipper Nasiru Sani match bonus on CHAN Eagles duty

By admin -
July 28, 2017

Katsina United skipper Nasiru Sani will be paid match bonus even when he is on duty with the CHAN Eagles, his club chairman has told SCORENigeria

All-action leftback Sani is one of 30 players from the NPFL called up for next month’s CHAN 2018 qualifier.

“It’s an honour to have one of our players in the national team, even though we ought to have more players in the CHAN team,” Katsina United chairman Aminu Balele Kurfi told SCORENigeria

“I believe players like Ashadi Destiny and Frank Kappe also deserve thir chance in the national team.

“As part of our support for Nasiru and the national team, we have agreed to pay him match bonuses for any of our matches even if he were away in the CHAN Eagles.”

The club boss also told SCORENigeria he expects coach Salisu Yusuf not to release players to their various clubs after this weekend matches so that the CHAN Eagles will be focused for next month’s final playoff for Kenya 2018.

“I am far from satisfied with the preparations of the team for the CHAN qualifiers because we should not take anything for granted especially as we did not qualify for the last AFCON as well as the U17 and U20 AFCONS,” he said.

“We should therefore step up our preparations for the CHAN qualifiers by ensuring that at least when the players return to training camp in Kano by Monday, they are not released again so that they could be fully concentrated on the matches against Benin.”

Nigeria will be in Cotonou on August 12, before they welcome Benin to Kano on August 18 with the overall winners advancing to the CHAN final tournament in Kenya next year.
