Jayne07: Ma'am, I believe you should adhere to the advice you've been given here. Its coming from experienced people. That is why u are seeking help here. 1) Let your husband apply for hid TRV after your marriage in Sept. 2) When he's settled, say 1month after resumption, u can apply for SOWP, say Feb. U have a 95% chance of joining him. This is not to say that no two couple can apply oo. A moniker once said here he/she applied with spouse and they both got Visas. Now its about the Grace you carry to make a VO believe that after studies, he'd return home (9ja) with you and how much is in your account. Just know that available funds should be enough - the fraction left from ur Hubby's sch funding, Upkeep of 10k for him plus additional 5k for u, I think. I no near guru level. Just my thoughts. Success in what ever you decide to do. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Hey guys...... This one na serious question o.... on CIC website, processing time changes every week. At 1st, I used to think that the processing time for that week is applicable to those who applied for that week. E.g. around late May, with the 1st 2 weeks in June, processing time was 13weeks..... And approaching ending June, July, it turned into 16weeks. Now if applied when processing time was 13weeks (say May ending) does it mean that as we are in July now, my application of 13weeks estimated processing time (as at when I applied in May) will turn into 16weeks (July)?? Pls Gurus, help..... Cuz this is confusing. What are your thoughts?? |

To the best of my knowledge, current processing time applies which is 15weeks. Forget about what it was showing back when you applied. cheers Emmane: |

likeababygirl: This information can be misleading as this statement isn't completely true... People who got denied for lack of home tie (Inability to convince the V.O that they would return after completing there program) obviously weren't ophans as they have families. What is home tie?? "In summary; These are compelling reasons that mandates/persuades or make a person to leave a foriegn land and return to ones home country" It is your duty to convince the judge (V.O) with facts and evidence before he passes his verdict on your application. Relationships comes in different ways when to be used as home tie. 1. Your kids, fiance, wife and hubby are strong relationship ties that can compel anyone to come back after studies. "There must be proof" birth certificates, marriage certs e.t.c 2. Your parents becomes a reasonable tie of you can convince the V.O that you are the only person that can take proper care of them as they are old can only be happier when you are around hence you are highly needed to return home and care for them. 3. I don't see any situation where your siblings become a good enough tie. (Don't bank on this alone as home tie pls) 4. Family business (Once it is documented and registered) Finally as for your parents/sponsors' landed documents, those are not "your" home tie as your parents/sponsors own those property hence i would classify those as financial clout of them being able to foot your bills rather than your home ties. In simple terms; How does your parents lands compel you to return to Nigeria after your studies?? Thank you. 4 Likes 1 Share |

likeababygirl: Hello likeababygirl, what if you're in your late twenties like 26-29? Will the landed properties of your sponsor still count? |

Yasmine04: Pls lets avoid short cuts...and address issues completely as i believe what is what doing is what doing well. I repeat "Your sponsors landed documents are not your home tie in any way... this probably only shows your sponsors have investments that can be viewed as being financially capable of sponsoring your school. I still dont see any reason why your sponsors landed properties will compel you to come back after your studies...its as simple as that. Except maybe it was willed to you..then it is yours and not your sponsors hence you must have proof for such claims. https://www.us-immigration.com/blog/how-to-show-ties-to-home-country-during-a-visa-interview |

Ope100: Why should we just "forget" about it? If it had no meaning or significance, why did CIC waste their time to be updating it weekly? Why didn't they just put 15weeks and leave it at that? I remember, there was a time it was 19weeks. Pls just answer these questions, thanks Cheers |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by MrMarc: 11:15pm On Jul 29, 2017 |
prettytolar: Your school should give you a student copy scan that one. All school does. Go get your student copy as they have to show it to you and you go through it to ensure there are no mistakes in your grades and CGPA before the send it to the required address. In some cases they send without you going thru it thats if you are far away or don't care to see what they are about to send out. |

Boss, I find it funny just as you do. I was part of those who applied when it was 19weeks processing time! I follow IRCC on twitter and several people have asked them this your question, their reply is always "follow the current processing time posted on our Web page" God is in control Emmane: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by MrMarc: 11:25pm On Jul 29, 2017 |
Msp: You have a point but i still wont advice anyone to bank SOLEY on siblings and immediate family ONLY as home ties. It is not good enough in my opinion. Rather talk about family business you will inherit and run that you can't leave here or something similar... |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by maziude: 11:27pm On Jul 29, 2017 |
Emmane: Boss, Except otherwise stated, the current processing time is the average processing time for ever received application. There are reasons why processing time changes. These may include background checks, fraudulent infos, misrepresentation that requires answer etc. However, note that every application is unique. While some may take 5weeks or less, others might take more. The best thing is submit an air tight application and hope for the best and if your application is past the current processing time, send a Case Specific Enquiry. My opinion though... 1 Like |

MrMarc: Boss, Except his or her case is unique and if he or she has no other home time, Family only can be a home tie. At least in my case, that is what I used (papa, mama, siblings), nothing else. |

Hey guys I would like to state a current problem me and most of my mates who went to Canada to school 2016 are currently facing. I and my friends got 1 year study permit for post secondary after graduating and get into various universities our study permit and Visas expired so some of came back to Nigeria to renew them and most of us got refused and delayed and are currently missing classes , while others who decided to renew there's in Canada all got approved in less than 2 weeks. Please do not make the same mistakes that we did, make sure you renew all visas and sturdy permits aboard before you return home for any reason. 23 Likes 4 Shares |

abbeymaniak: Hello boss, Well, me I will "abuse" you . 1) What do you mean by "jes", "dis" and "deres"? 2)I am confused. Are you interested in a combined master program in Information Technology and business management or are they separate entities? 3)(Now the abuse)Based on your write up above, you might need to write the english test. But you can find out from the school you intend to attend. 4) Get a school first, apply, get accepted, then apply for trv, then attend school and graduate. Then the answer will be clear. But, in my opinion, No one knows for sure except the Almighty. What works for A might not work for B. Disclaimer: Na joke I dey for 1 and 3 oh, but i sure say you get the drift. However on a more serious note, I think we should imbibe the culture of typing out every word in full especially since we have people that might not fully understand abbreviations. Keypads are now QWERTY enabled. Boss no vex, the hot weather dey affect my brain. 18 Likes |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by likeababygirl: 12:11am On Jul 30, 2017 |
MrMarc:Uncle, nobody is saying your wife or kids aren't home ties. Your parents and siblings are home ties too. If that is the case, people wey never marry no suppose dey get visa na. Your parents landed documents are home ties. Willed or not. If things go the other way in Canada, you can always come back to your parent's house. Also, family business and all that only applies to people that have registered business, what happens if your parents are not self employed? Anyhoo, me i have said what worked for me and other people i have seen on this thread and dazzall. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Yasmine04:Yes it will count. To be honest, i will rather you focus on the 'purpose of visit' and 'insufficient funds' denial reason. Once your proposed course is related to your previous study and your finances are okay. You are good to go. 1 Like |

Why do most Master's degree programs in Canada require someone to get a supervisor first? For some couple of months now, I've been mailing several profs and doctors regarding a space under them. Its either there's no available space or I don't receive any response from them |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by likeababygirl: 12:25am On Jul 30, 2017 |
prettytolar:I understand that this can get frustrating. Pele. There are schools that do not require you to get a supervisor cos they will assign one to you, you just have to do extensive research and find them. Also the good people here have dropped tips on how to secure a supervisor on this thread, i think if you read through it and follow the instructions, you will get a positive response from a supervisor. Just do not give up yet. 2 Likes |

mamacajah: Hello, about your your question on your school Queen Mary University, it's different from my school, Queen’s. As such, I have limited information about the program. Apologies for the late response. So much to attend to lately... |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Onyeoma3: 1:39am On Jul 30, 2017 |
prettytolar: For some, it was an easy ride while for others, it took lots of strategizing and restrategizing (going back and forth the drawing board) before securing a supervisor. I belong to the latter. The first time I contacted the supervisor I'm currently working with was in 2013 and eventually got a position in his research group in 2015 (24 months after). I made sure to keep in touch all thru. As a result, he had one impression about me, "Persistence" (which is a key attribute in research). Frustration is a key component in this process, so I would say you're on track but then, don't give up on your dreams if you truly want to go into research. Is it worth the stress at then end of the day? Sure!!! 1 Like |
