Micheal Ade-Ojo, OON /CEO Elizade motors limited

Elizade commences production of JAC

Foremost automobile marketing company in Nigeria, Elizade Motors Nigeria Limited, has finally ventured into automobile manufacturing in Nigeria with the production of Chinese brand, JAC.

Elizade is the authorised distributor of JAC Motors in Nigeria and is targetting to produce 15,000 vehicles annually, including, passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks. The plant, which is currently operating on a single shift is a multi-brand plant where the company would also assemble the Toyota brand in Nigeria. Speaking to journalists at the plant, the Managing Director, Elizade Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ademola Ade-Ojo said that the plant would have commenced operations earlier than now but for their inability to source foreign exchange for production.

We are the largest automotive group in the country in terms of units. It will be irresponsible of us to sit down and fold our arms. We need to do everything to introduce cheaper products to the market. What we are doing today is the demonstration to ensure that we support the government and have something that the customer can buy.” “Moving our production to CKD depends on how government ensures that the other factors key into ensuring that CKD strives. CKD cannot strive unless you have a minimum of about 30 per cent locally sourced material. “If you can’t source 30 per cent local content, there is no point in doing CKD. It depends on how government structures the auto market and the industry.”

Before he ascended the throne of his forefathers, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, The Ooni of Ife was a very successful businessman. And he still is. As the Founder and Chairman of Grand Imperio Group, his holding company has extensive business interests in Real Estate and Construction, Manufacturing, Facilities Management, Leisure and Tourism companies within Nigeria.

Oba Ogunwusi has been involved in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) locally and abroad for over 13 years. He has been actively involved in the development of over 2,500 housing units with various consortia of developers/promoters, over the last 9 years in Nigeria.

He played a key part in the facilitation of trade between the United Arab Emirates UAE (Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone development) and Federal Government of Nigeria, through Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). He was also involved in the facilitation and development of Sparkwest Steel Galvanizing Plant (the only Steel Galvanizing Plant in Nigeria), National Iron Ore Mining Company Limited and Jakura Mines resuscitation projects, which has eventually become the major limestone feed stock to Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi State, Nigeria.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi is a Director, Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank Limited, (formerly GTHomes), a leading National Mortgage Bank and former subsidiary of one of the biggest banks in Africa, GTBank. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Polytechnic Ibadan. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate Accounting Technician and a certified member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. He is also an active member of Global Real Estate Institute (GRI).

His company Grand Imperio Group has been actively involved in the development of over 13 housing estates, within Lagos and the rest of the Southwest region. These include Essential Homes Estate in Lagos, which comprises 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 4 bedroom terraced bungalows, 3 bedroom town houses + bq and Ante room, 3 bedroom apartments and 5 bedroom standalone duplexes .

Another of the estates established by the Grand Imperio Group is Jacob Mews, a $23.3 million project, which features over 120 units of premium residential flats, maisonettes and town houses located in Yaba, Lagos.

Lakeview Park Estate (Phase I & II) is also one of Oba Ogunwusi's projects. It is a world class residential community with best-in-class design, construction, amenities, site services and security, not far from the renowned Victoria Garden City (VGC) Estate in Lagos. Its' 202 residential plots of 600 sqm and 800 sqm were sold out in record time.

Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure is a tourism complex that is being developed by Oba Ogunwusi's firm, Grand Imperio Limited. The resort is located within a friendly community rich in culture and history of ancient Lagos Monarchy; home to the Esinmikan Royal Family. Situated between the Lagos lagoon and the magnificent Atlantic Ocean, Inagbe Grand Resorts & Leisure provides exquisite scenic views of both abundant water bodies. Inagbe Grand Resort stretches over 3 million square meter land, within a 100 kilometer stretch island along the Atlantic Ocean, just a few minutes away from Victoria Island. They also executed an electrification project along the same road, along with installation of electric poles for electricity distribution.

Within his domain in Ile-Ife, the Ooni has also embarked on various construction works and infrastructure projects designed to uplift the town. http://granimperiogroup.com/projects/

As at then, Nigeria was a commodity-trading nation. Then, we realised that the demand for iron rods and cement was so high, and I became very interested.

As we discovered this opportunity, we started importing cement and iron rods, selling for Pacific Holdings, owned by Dr. Deji Adeleke. That also ignited my passion for real estate. My senior brother was in the banking sector, while I was into commodity trading. I went to Lagos to join him for us to work together. From there, I started doing real estate. That was around 1998/99. And eventually, I set up my company, Gran Imperio Group (GIG).

Before I formed mine, I’ve worked with many companies in terms of collaboration. I have worked with a lot of many Indian companies in the area of manufacturing, but I discovered my interest lies in construction companies. I decided to train myself through various engagements both locally and internationally. In a bid to equip myself, I’ve had to travel to so many countries, joining some business groups like association for international business.

I like to do big things; it is one of the ways I challenge myself. I have learnt valuable lessons from several business negotiations. I have learnt how to make seemingly impossible task to work. All of these have given me wider exposure and ever since I developed a tough skin and a slogan ‘Otisese’, meaning, it is possible. https://guardian.ng/business-services/real-estate-as-my-career/

ADEYINKA ASEKUN CEO

Hebron Limited is a full service training and consulting company based in Lagos, Nigeria. We are experts in the development and implementation of retail banking strategy with a focus on retail banking sales, performance management, retail credit and infrastructure. The other key area of focus is management soft skills training and strategy consulting with public and private sector organisations. The Retail Banking space is an area in which we have observed considerable gaps in the skill profile and experience of many banking officers in Nigerian banks. We have observed a situation in which the approaches used in managing corporate relationships are being applied to retail banking situations, often with suboptimal results. We therefore offer a number of solutions, targeted at various roles in the retail banking space to ensure we fill the gap in a manner that results in significant contribution to the bottom line.

As trainers we build capacity within organisations by imparting the skills, specialisations, structures and processes required by the staff of companies in the private and public sectors that would serve to make each employee we train more effective in the work place, improve the chances of their actualizing their potential and finding fulfillment in the work.

In working with our private and public sector clientele we try to ensure that whatever support we provide fits into the overall business strategy of the organisation.

The partners that make up Hebron Limited have over half a century of combined experience in a number of rather diverse yet very relevant disciplines such as; strategic planning, retail banking strategy, credit risk management, marketing and sales of fast moving consumer goods, brand management, mortgage banking, real estate investment trust, organisational integration and credit systems implementation among others in Nigeria and abroad.
