Many people know Olufemi Otedola as the Nigerian billionaire, who has his hands firmly entrenched in the oil sector. But what most folks do not know, is that he is also a big player in the power generation industry as well. His subsidiary known as Amperion Power Distribution Company Limited (Amperion Power) acquired the majority stake in the 435MW Geregu Power Plant located in Kogi State of Nigeria, under the government-led privatization programme in the power sector.

Amperion Power tied up a partnership arrangement with the State Grid Corporation of China, one of the world's largest utility company, as its technical partner.

The Geregu Power Plant was commissioned in 2007 with three Siemens V94.2 open cycle gas turbine power generation units, totaling 414MW of installed capacity. Each of the 3 units have a rated capacity of 138MW each. The station is supplied with natural gas from two pipelines, a 24-inch wide old pipeline and 36-inch wide 136 KM long new pipeline from the Natural Gas Treatment Plant. These are able to satisfy the gas requirements of 3 units running on a full load of 435MW.

The name Geregu is derived from the host local community of the power plant located in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State in the North Central area of Nigeria.

In addition to these assets, Femi Otedola owns Forte Oil Plc, an indigenous energy company, which has over 500 fuel retail stations located nationwide, and a petroleum products fuel depot with a storage capacity of 147,000 metric tonnes. Forte Oil Plc used to be known as African Petroleum Plc., until govt divested itself of its shares in 2007. He also owns SeaForce Shipping Company, which is said to control one of the largest shipping fleets, in the country.

I echo this your sentiment .back in 2015 I was posted to this self proclaimed industrial hub of Africa ekwulumili to be precised in Nnewi south you have to pass through Nnewi north which is the most developed part of Nnewi as a curious yoruba boy I began to look for the said industries they brag about online about only to find nothing and when asked from the locals and okada means they frown and give me this reply I quote " corper if you wan see where company for Nnewi dey e dey inside inside bush"
and I was like the same bush I pass through amichi and co to ekwulumili without seeing smoke talk more of industrial building.

Following a successful pilot, full implementation of the Light-Up Kwara (LUK), an innovative solar-powered streetlight project of the Kwara State government, commenced in June 2017. The roll-out plan for the Solar Farm Tunnels (SFTs), which will be for the dual arm poles,
will include installation of a total of 341 poles covering 9.7km across 11 routes within Ilorin metropolis.

It will be recalled that in February this year, the State Government signed a technical agreement with two firms, Riccofortezza-Asteven Energy Limited and Rubitec Power Limited for the execution of the Light-Up Kwara (LUK) project.
