I've always wondered why the Lady's name comes first on most wedding invitation cards I've come across. Like Esther and Jacob. Y not Jacob and Esther? Ain't the man meant to be the head and ahead?

Before marriage a woman is given preference cos the man is like begging her to be his wife...he kneels to ask for her hand in marriage, goes to her home/village to pay bride price,he and his people prostrate on the floor for her people, wedding takes place in her church, she sits at the right whenever they are together, so her name comes before his name on the invitation card, her parents names also comes before his parents names...story changes after the vows are said...he changes position and assumes head over her by being always at the right...he gives the appreciation speech....her name more or less disappears on the wedding programme as the appreciation carries Mr/Mrs Abraham Isaac...etc

A man is head only after the marriage has taken place...not before.

If you've been observing it a long time before now, you would notice in the olden days, that its the man's name first but civilization saga turned everything. Very soon wives will start paying bride price. Its just like trousers...in the old times, pencil was the trend after bootcut with a full afro hair, people later abandoned pencil and went for afro.
