I just hope the rumour flying around that the list will be out today is true. So we can forge and plan ahead. If successful, we can meet together eventually during orientation forming unbreakable ties now and d future. So we can assist and help one another at home and the foreign land as the case may be to be our brothers keeper.

Above all, we will strategise how to fulfill the main objective of the scheme when we eventually come back from studies or studies here giving back to our people and the nation at large. With independent personal financial resource, quality education, experience and the right connection and skills, this will be achieved through strategic thinking and proper planning whilst eliminating nepotism. The real change of the land will definitely come through different means and you all will witness it someday.

Based upon informal "unverified" conversations with sources close to the PTDF management, it is very much unlikely that the list be released today. The expectations are that names of successful scholars will be published before the Sallah break and then induction to follow after the break. But you know surprises do happen, and we may see the list today based upon what some people here have posted. It is very very much unlikely though. A lot of people are just voicing their thoughts based on mere expectations.

The list isn't coming out today.
It's likely early September according to a PTDF source of mine.

You know Nigeria well. I'm not sure why many are here expressing disgust as if this is strange with Nigeria. It isn't. Last minute "arrangement" is going on with that list and don't forget, there are partnerships in Brazil to be sorted.

Just to Lighten the mood and ease the tension............. I received a mail yesterday from my school stating that my accommodation is ready, I even got to see it in 3d viewing (360 spin), hehe it was heavenly (no wonder POTRON, didn't want to return home), but when I saw the price, the spirit of the lord came upon me and my eyes became opened... I was being billed 11915 pounds for the academic year....I wrote to the school that they should please remove the WATER HEATER, SMOKE DETECTOR, FRIDGE, AC, DISH WASHER, WASHING MACHINE, MICROWAVE, GAS COOKER, OVEN e.t.c just leave the bed and toilet for me, infact they should remove the tiles and the fire detector, they disagreed saying that they want international students to be comfortable, hian! for the first time in my life I can boldly say I DONT WANT TO BE COMFORTABLE..lmao...Please I need anybody that remembers what page on this thread where we talked about the payment plans or how ptdf pays their scholars to please assist me with the link or even the info, especially on accommodation. Thank You

P.S the hostel is strictly based for international students, although one might consider living outside the schools accommodation only if one had a clue on how housing is charged

Given the underlying uncertainty about the release of the list early enough to at least catch up a week or so after classes have started, can we please discuss about the possibility of enrolling for this academic year, most especially for prospective successful UK scholars whose programmes have only September entry dates for each academic year. Do the PTDF have any plans in play, diplomatic per say, to speed up the visa processing to enable successful scholars make this academic year? And do class A UK schools (the top 30 or so) grant registration period extension to international students under unavoidable situations like ours?

Despite the fact that we don't know whether we will make the list, let's please make discussions around these areas to calm nerves and make hopeful/possible arrangements. I am sure beyond any reasonable doubt (based on clear & concise answers from PTDF sources) that sponsorships will be carried out this year, with the only problem being when "EXACTLY" (like the exact dates) the lists will be published and induction will take place. There is no contradiction by the way between my post here & the one above. I was only told next week, with no precise date given. You know anything without a precise time frame & dates opens up room for uncertainty.

Well, the PTDF doesn't need a diplomatic leverage to that. Given the 3 types of visa applications, standard which takes about 30 days now, priority service takes about 5 working days for £550 and then the premium service which takes a maximum of 48hours to come out with a decision for ~£1000. The PTDF pays for visa applications and so has to pay the premium if it's the only way one can meet up.

By the way the list is being approved today and 5 candidates for each state.

The list will be released when it will be released.

Please you guys should stop acting like you are foreigners. We all knew that this would happen.

I would suggest that people start making plans to differ their admissions till January or if it's not possible, next year. People should learn that the attitude to adjust to changes makes them a better person especially in this era of Changji. We will not always get what we want so we have to make do with what we've got.

While we all agree that the conditions are unacceptable, it is also unacceptable if you fail to prepare for unfavourable conditions. Use your head, plan for the future, find things you can do to accommodate this unfortunate situation.

Best of Luck.
This is just sad

Based on last year's figures, I think it is £1,100/month to cover all living expenses. If you are eventually awarded, do not be quick in booking accommodation before travelling to the U.K. Wait until you reach there to find very affordable and nice private accommodations (off-campus). You will average spend between 300-600 pounds per month for accommodation + utilities, depending on which city your university is in and whether you will book a shared apartment.

Thank You... this is helpful, I think staying off-campus is a good idea...I have seen quite a lot online with good features for less than 600 pounds..thank you very much

Are you guys now reading the new picture. This is the counter balance theorem at work.

Anytime we bombard PTDF with mails and twits, some people will come here giving us hope and setting a date for us. Then when the day comes, they preach another thing. This is now getting to b the 2nd to 3rd time this thing is happening. Are you not seeing the sequences. Are you not seeing that PTDF insiders is at work here.

@bigarkuwa. You claim five per state, does it include MSC and PHD. Does it include local or OSS. So Niger delta state will be same as other state. PTDF that is trying to save cost will spend extra 1000 pounds (about N500000) to waste for premium visa abi. This does not even include the UK visa and NHS cost.

of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the
people all the time." - Abraham Lincoln

rent an accommodation. You can see 300 to 350 pounds per month accommodation including bills if you stay outside London. That is the easiest way of saving money. Also, university room is small and you will even pay deposit. if you damage something, they will deduct it from deposit. You have just saved 8315 pounds ( more than 4 million naira) without working. Imagine how many lives in your family you can touch with that money. Apart from oil company, how many people in Nigeria can afford that money per annum. Don't get carried away and forget your roots. Many of my sets are regretting their reckless spending while me I am still spending my millions.

I am not staying in london, and all the off-campus accommodation I have seen also require a deposit, booking fee, or a guarantor and they are also not so cheap at most 700 pounds a month and at the least 500 pounds. see there are certain things I look out for when house hunting;

1. proximity - either you stay close to school and pay a higher sum or you stay a bit further way and invest in transportation, your choice.
2. security - very very important to me as i have no idea what kind of neighborhood I would be living in.
3. Privacy - I like my Space, (shared bathroom and toilet is out of it, especially in a floor with soooo many students).

Some of these things I have listed might seem unnecessary, but that's just the way it is. It is also because of the highlighted reason, I am seeking an alternative and frankly the italicized statements are unnecessary. thanks alot.

@DeniseKendricks. usqoh is right .

Additionally, during the orientation, you will find people going to same school as yours. 3 to 4 of you can combine together to rent a family house instead of individually. A family house usually have 3 to 4 rooms and it cheaper to rent at the long run 800 to 1000 pounds. If 4 rooms, instead of each of you paying 350 individually, u pay 250 pounds. By this, you have saved 100 pounds about 48,000 naira per month.

Also, when you stay together, you won't miss home much. And u can combine money to cook Nigeria food at your leisure. You can also help one another in case PTDF don't pay some of your allowance or in academics. You can share info on work available together to earn more money. That is how we made money.

As usqoh advised, don't get carried away buying car or living in school accommodation which is very expensive and no to flamboyant life. Some of my freinds are now broke and don't even have money to process foreign immigration visa. Dont misuse this opportunity.
