I need your advice: I recently got to know about these safe investments and I'm excited at what can become of them if you add to them regularly and then use the power of compound interest. Here is my question : I have a new born that is not yet a year old. I would like to start him up on one of these investments, TB, Mutual funds or bonds. Which one should I go for?

I think this is a great question. I think the first question is if you can even do such investments for your newborn. Over to the experts in the house.

If u are in Lagos, go to Alausa(Civil Defence Office)
& ask of the NIMC office there or go to Airforce base in Ikeja close to Ladipo B/stop. u'll get National ID slip there & its acceptable to the Banks.

So, I'm ready to invest in TBills, but, I'm incapacitated.

Apparently, I want to bank with either FBN or Stanbic, meaning I'd need to open a new account, but here I am with no valid means of identification.

My international passport expired some months back, I don't have driver's license, national I.D (yet to capture biometrics - long queues), no voter's card (been there over 5 times but no way).

What is the way out? I need to enjoy high interest rate ooo.

Thanks.

Had a chat with FBN via Twitter and they requested a valid form of identity. BVN wasn't started.

Sadly, I just struggled to get a Voter's card today (not the plastic one) and I was told it won't suffice, too.

Getting a national ID is like wishing corruption out of Nigeria.

Guess, I'm locked at the moment.

bro.i did my national id at ogba lagos .i got it less than two weeks. Pls .thou its not the plastic one .i was given d paper one which you can use temporarily till d plastic one is out.all banks reciever it .i av used it to upgrade all my accounts. So kindly do more research wherever u live.so u can sort ursef out

Always try to get the hard copy of your investments or Certificate of investment from the branch you did the Treasury Bills as proof of the transaction as soon as possible. Usually the hard copies are ready in one or two weeks

Wait oo, i did not have the hard copy o, they only scan copy to me by email because my account is First Diaspora Account, i invested 5 million. Is that a risk not to have hard copy? Although it also shows in my account.

No no no. As long as you have the proof of the investment sent to your email address it's enough though there is also nothing wrong in asking for the hard copy

Dear all, I am vexing now o, I invested in Tbills with Ecobank since July 7th, I was debited and paid upfront interest and it even reflected in my account. But my account officer has refused to help me get my proof of investment. The first time she said the lady who do send the proof in the head office was on leave.. She called me the last time, I missed her call but I knew she wanted to tell me that the proof is ready. I was at the bank the yesterday and I was told my account officer is now on leave, Infact I was told she's attending a church conference.. She only switch on her gone at night and has refused to pick my call sef. I regret investing with Ecobank. They are so unprofessional. I am planing on reporting to the branch manager. Please is it possible for one to report my branch and pick up the proof of investment from the head office... I really need this proof to present at the embassy next month.. Pls what do you think?

You're vexing now! For us on this forum?

Abeg, na we carry you go Eco?

At any rate, it's good you've seen things yourself now.

You caused yourself the problems you're facing.

Must you go through your account officer if you want to do NTB?
Must you do it at your branch?

You see, because some or most account officers wouldn't be happy that you're moving your money to do NTB, the safest way to avoid this type of issues is to go to a different branch, just walk in and ask for the officer in charge of Treasury Bills and transact your business Chikena!
Whenever you need your proof of transaction, go back to same person or desk and demand for it. And if you have no choice than to go to your branch, you don't need to involve your account officer-simply walk to the person in charge and do your transaction and return to same for your proof of investment in a week or two.

NOW, SOLUTION TO YOUR PREDICAMENT ⤵⤵⤵
Simply go to the branch where you did the Treasury Bills and ask for the officer in charge of Treasury Bills (if you don't know him or her) and ask for your hard copy. In case you're told that your account officer has collected it which I doubt very much because I normally sign for mine, insist that you must collect it or another one if she is on leave and they will surely do another one for you. If they say no, make some noise there and go to lodge a complain with the manager and threaten to close your account with them if you don't get it on that day and you will surely go home with it that day.

The head office can't give you just as you can't get it at any other branch except where you did it.

That vex we you dey vex, just carry am put for your pocket when going and bring am out and give them if the need arise. Okay?

Lol... OK.. Thanks...You need to know that this was my first time of doing NTB.. We learn everyday.. I will definitely do as u suggested ..Come to think of it, before I bought this Tbills from them, I initially filled theirs form and when it was taking over 3 weeks to debit me, I when to open a Stanbic account and went to another Ecobank branch to transfer my money, only for them to frustrate me and went behind me to call my account officer and notify her that I was about to move all my money.. She started calling me..Dont worry after this one matures, I am moving all the money from them..Thanks for the advice

The last Bond auction was largely under-subscribed, according to the DMO. Hope this will not cause the upcoming NTB auction to be over-subscribed, thereby bringing down the discount rates.

Gurus please share your thoughts!

you can easily get your money within 72hours if you want it, but if you want to terminate treasury bills the conditions bank will give you will discourage you, treasury bill is for money u don't need for that minimum of 91days while mutual fund helps you keep money that you can assess in a short period of 72hours. My little knowledge.

I have always said it, the most useless Bank in Nigeria Award (MUBNA) goes to EcoBank.

Exactly what they did to you is what i experienced the last few months i tried to move funds from my account with them to another bank, when i tried moving funds from a different branch to avoid encounter with my account officer, the branch always delayed me for at least 48 hours in the name of verification that it's actually me, they use this time to contact my account officer and tell her that i am about moving so so amount, then the stupid girl will now call me asking me why i am moving my OWN MONEY , if not because of my respect for their Oga, i would have blasted her over the phone for asking me such a stupid question.

Every single time i tried to move money, she is always aware and she will try to persuade me not to move the funds, at some point the useless account officer started lieing to me that the person who is supposed to authorize my transaction at their branch while i am trying to transfer from a different branch is not around, I was overfed-up , i devised another means of using ATM card to do the movements and within a short period my account balance went to N1300.00 only, i had a smile of relief, i advice everyone with them to run for their life. You are not only losing interests but they will frustrate you if you have cash emergency.
