Well-done but your so called baby mama should not just sit idle doing nothing, if she is a graduate she can look for a teaching Job no Matter small she earn she will have something to support you with at the end of the month.
I spoke with her about getting something doing but she said she will take up a fashion design apprenticeship, mind she started one last year August but could not complete it. I had to pay for her to start at a new place and now all I hear is that she would be signing up for another male garment training when the current one elapses. She has done childcare before so I rallied resources to start us a daycare center with a shop in my care, the very next weekend she came back and told me a narration of her prophetess seeing a vision that she can't start a daycare because of Aye. Thanks for your concern sir, I just needed to unload somewhere!

Here's my take on it : How much minimum would you need live ideally?

I'm using the dollar as my reference, so:

Before inflation : $1 = 160 Naira
Now : $1 - 360 Naira (225% Increase)

Therefore, to get the same value of 100k before inflation time in present day, you would need to be earning 225,000

Assuming you're putting aside money for rent monthly (lets say 800k divided by 12 months), 66,000

Feeding expenses are usually anywhere from a quarter of your income to half. Choosing half of 225,000: 112,500

Transport? Assuming 30% of 225,000 : 67,000

Adding all of this, we have a total ideal of N470,500

Now, Ask yourself, what level/position within your company would you need to be to be earning that?

While you're asking yourself, lets convert this to dollars at N360 per dollar. That's $1306 a month.

If you check salary benchmarking sites in others countries you may find out what they earn monthly is way above that.

Example :

Nigerian Salary for Front web developer (approx) : 60k ~ 240k ~ higher which in US dollars is $166 ~ $240 per month
Arabian Salary for Front web developer (approx), the amount in US Dollars is $1000 to $2000

Conclusion

If you take the lowest amount in an arabian country ($1000), and convert to naira, you'll see its barely enough to sustain you based on our ideal income

We live in a country where we need to almost out-earn international counterparts to put body and soul together, but our economy can't afford to pay us our worth.

Very tactical analysis... You just have to agree!

Salaries? In January 2017, I hustled money to arrange drivers license so as to earn something higher than 15k a month, with a not working, live in baby mama in tow. In March, my wish was granted I got a 40k driver job in a location close to home. I work late, I work Monday to Saturday, I am depressed, from my larger than previous salary I can't buy myself a shirt, I still dress in my rags to work. Salaries are the reward in a permanent rat race, only those who break out of the box end up well.

The Nigerian male faces a harsh reality as he wakes up from sleep each morning.

It is well...

I understand you but did you know your qualification might make those schools not get back to you because they will be scared of paying you peanut but in the case above i said ahe should bring herself down to take a little offer to support her husband pending when fortune will smile on them.

I never believed in a single income, so I am always striving to make one naira into 2.5 naira. I hate Ponzi schemes, it taught me a bitter lesson in the summer of 2012, long before MMM took over Nigeria. I am looking forward to starting a cement retailing business as soon as I have enough capital. If not that teaching is underpaid and can't cater for our needs I would have faced it squarely as it is something I am passionate about.

Living well is relative. What you may consider as prudent living may be luxury or poverty to me. Lot's of people are living well in Nigeria Sir. Don't make the assumption that no one is living well. Anybody that has access to basic infrastructure and services is living well. If the transport system is bad one can complement it with a landcruiser and get immune from most of the rough roads. In Milverton some people tend to even forget that nigeria is experiencing challenges in the area of electricity.

My opinion on 150k a month was based on my knowledge of the cost of housing, tuition fees, healthcare and other neccesities in Lagos.

I'm still gonna say no one is living well in this

country.Do basic amenities include but not limited to food, clothe, shelter, good road, good and healthy environment, good health care and the likes? If yes then no one is living well. How will you control the fume coming out of your fellow road users exhaust pipe polluting the environment and causing damage to people's health or the amount of time you spend on the road due to traffic jam with the millions of naira you earn monthly?
In a nutshell,if your neighbor (your country people) is not living well you cannot claim to be living well

And if you think 150k cannot cover the cost of those things you mentioned above, that doesn't mean it can't cover for other people
My point here is that you don't make other people feel bad with our opinion.WE NEED TO ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER
Outright condemnation of 150k is not a good one
BTW,I am a SHE/MA

Nawa for you o. 100k fuel withing 5 days? 100k putting your car in good shape? Bro you need to check the way you spend. This is the best time you use your money to plan for the future not when you become 50 years of age.

Let me tell you a story. There was a time I wasn't financially prepared for village August meetings, I only paid age grade dues and that was it. In fact no one would ask you for more than your fair share.

You did all that not because you had to, not out of necessity. You had the money to spend. They were some in that Agust meeting that travelled by commercial bus. Never entertained anybody yet heaven did not fall.

Like Paul in the bible would say, " I have learnt how to live in abundance and in peniry."

The bottomlime is, if the money you earn was not enough to sustain that spending, you will still figure out how to get around those expenses.

Thanls, will be waiting

Here is my views on Wealth.
1. No amount of money may ever be enough for you.
2. Every salary increase may increase your taste for a better life hence insatiability sets in.
3. To be contented, build your self esteem
4. To be contented, don't compete with friends or colleagues.
5. Only money can solve money problems
6. Only a man who works for himself & God may be satisfied.
7. If you are on a paid job, don't plan to retire on paid jobs.
8. Savings may not be the solution.
9. Wealth creation is the solution
10. Hence, Invest more than savings but not MMM
11. If u save, save to invest, not saving to spend on commodity.
12. Investment can be as little as 10,000
13. Get Ideas, get knowledge, find time.
14. If your rent/year is more that your 1month salary, all your savings in 12months may only be able to pay rent for the next year. Do the maths
15. If you are married, be open to her with your finance, financial goals & plans, get her to key in.

Bro, the way things are currently, 150k is considered a fair salary. Am saying this because a lot of married men with good qualifications are jobless. The street ain't friendly. The Nigerian factor doesn't work to our advantage.

He's not gonna remain on 150k salary for ever. He's gonna grow overtime and that comes with increment of salary as well.

You have to start from somewhere. it's that simple.

Hahqhhaa , chill bro

If 150 k was enough op won't open this thread.
Firstly, don't compare yourself with others, whether good or bad, but look inwards your will get the answers.

Salary increase will never make it better, inflation is always waiting
2014 - $1 - #160
2017 - $1 - # 360

Which company can pay over 200% increase in salary?

What percentage increase will you need to match this change?

150k is OK for a single dude, married ones well depends on choices, like I said u are blessed to find a Nigerian lady accept 150k salary earner

Waoh nice post "investment can be as little as 10,000" many people want to start with thousands before investing into something, I started mine back then with less than 50,000 and today it's feltching me more than the startup capital, just dedicate your time to what you believe in, pray and be good to people around you especially your workers, before i round up my post i know of a pop corn seller here on campus who buy and resell and he is making a living from it, start somewhere, save the little you earn to start your dream business.

You don't buy tire every month and moreover one has to cut his/her cloth according to the available material, a man using Golf 3 with A.C in good condition and a man using Camry Muzzle with A.C in good condition will spend differently on maintenance, what i have promise myself is that I will not buy things I don't need now just because my friends are buying it because what works for Taiwo might not Work for Kenny. And there is a saying that if you buy what you don't need now you will sell it to buy what you need later.
