What will be the enticement?

This same question came to my mind. If the culture was so beneficial to us, we wouldn't have run away from it to seek greener pastures and higher living standards in another man's country. I wonder what medium he would employ to impart the knowledge of Yoruba language unto Germans if he does not understand German, and going by his posts here, English (his country's official language) does not appear to be his strongest suit either....... embarassed embarassed . With these kinda graduates flying Nigeria's flag outside the country's shores, one cannot really blame German Universities and other Institutions in the Global North demanding that prospective Nigerian students write English language certification exams before offering us admission into their English taught programs, despite the fact that English is the medium of Pedagogy from Elementary to Tertiary level in our dear Nation.

I have been reading all your replies; I'm sorry to say, your English is appalling. You don't need a Ph. D in English Language in other to differentiate your tenses, punctuations, and construct coherent sentences. And let me tell you, 80% of young Germans speak English fluently.

I second the concluding part of your submission. Even the remaining 20% have a better understanding of the language than many Nigerian graduates and are only hesitant to speak it with people who they believe to be native speakers cos of the fear of the negligible errors which they might commit, which to them is a big deal cos they seek perfection in all they do! Been here for close to 2 years now and I am yet to meet any German youth who does not understand English enough to at least hold a meaningful, almost error-free conversation. Even primary school kids here have a good grasp of the language already, yet a naija graduate is bold enough to allude his error-strewn posts on a public forum to the fact that he does not hold a Ph.d in his country's lingua franca......what a wawu!

since you have ph.D kindly be correcting me on my tenses and puntuations. It is important you do that. Thanks. I want to ask please since when you have been following me on nairaland. And how do you know eighty percent of young germans speak english fluently hmmmm.

I usually don't do this, but I'll make an exception for your case because it's becoming unbearable...

Young man you talk too much and ask too many irrelevant questions, sometimes it's best to chill and take corrections from others. People have been complaining about your poor language skills for the past 2 months or thereabout, but you seem not to be concerned about it, guy please do something about it before you resume by summer 2018, take some time off to study and stop bickering here all the time.

Finally this post was not made to spite you nor traduce your personality rather it is a call for you to have a moment of self reflection and work on yourself while you still can.

Do have a wonderful evening

the same Nigeria students has one of the best English language certification results. I could remember TOEFL,IELTS,SAT et al. Nigeria students are always doing well on these English language Exams. Please appreciate them not downgrading them thanks. For Nigeria students to be in Germany and graduate with first class results, I appreciate them a lot. Not to talk of establishing company and succeed big in them. Please appreciate your fellow men not down grading them because they are not fluent in English language.

It isn't, if you, however, don't see a problem in the fact that a University graduate who has studied in a certain language all his life cannot put up a post in the said language without glaring, elementary errors EVERY time then the point of this whole convo is moot, D.O.A.

Said that because Winter Session is no longer feasible due to the fact that the Consulate is fully booked already... Well I can't tell you nor to have faith for an appointment date, but it would be wiser to take the disappointment in good fate now and re-strategize for Summer '18.

Mind you I was affected too, I have reached out to as many platforms as I could, the message is clear on the wall hence I have to re-orient my plans for Summer 18'.

Actually, it's not as if I didn't notice it, but I only want us to know that nobody is above mistake. It is not a bad idea to correct one if mistakes occur, nevertheless we should try to do this in a way it will not lead to insult from both parties.

More so, android phones can be funny sometimes when typing. Some people type without even going through it again to avoid mistakes before sending/submitting.

I'm glad you noticed too and I totally agree with you that no one is above errors. As you can see, I tried my best to not point accusing fingers at, or correct anyone's written grammar cos the last time I did, some peeps were all up in their feelings. I was only talking in general terms this time around and only corrected someone who erroneously believed Germans can't speak good English.

The same people who type on this forum and others of its ilk, eventually move to other countries and end up being the image makers and flag bearers of our country and like it or not, influence the kind of opinions people have about us as a collective.

Nice to see some changes from this post but you can do better.
It seems you are a newbie here and I can guess you are also a millennial. This will be my last reply to you.
I laugh at bolded. Let me whisper this in your ear, and it is for you only. " I speak better German than uneducated native speakers. "
