Good morning House,

I been issued B1/B2 visas as a single lady with my maiden name and i have traveled with them as well. Got married and renewed my passport, i now requested via my appointment scheduling profile for my new passport number and new surname to be updated( Since i cannot do it myself). it was done initially but was not done properly as my new passport number did not reflect on my profile. I now reopen the ticked and send another email to USdesk updating them that it was not properly done. This is two weeks and the open ticket is still showing escalated and no update have been effected. I have as well called the US embassy in Nigeria and I am told to be patient. I want to request for B2/medicals this time around and since I have not been issued that class of Visa before, I will need to appear for interview and the earliest date I am seeing today is Oct 4

Please who has been in my situation and what did you do to remedy situation fast?. I am due to travel by December for childbirth. Please help a sister on how long it has taken for a profile to be updated or a escalated case to be addressed.

I am counting on you.

Hey babe! What a coincidence, you are the owner of d post I was asked to search for!
Please could you give details of how you went about the name/passport number update?

Did you go for another interview or you just notified them of the changes??

won't they think she has no ties to her homeland since she's not working yet?
Many people apply as homemakers and they still get the visa. There are so many other things that can act as ones tie

Hi Nairalanders,

Just to share a bit of my madam's experience at POE and delivery.

This was our second missionary journey. I must say that this forum has been very insightful.

We applied and got our visa as normal under the appropriate category. Bought her ticket and that of our daughter, though she felt the date I fixed her flight for was too early (I set her departure for 32nd week). On getting to Dallas CBP Officer tried to deny her access but he failed (all her documentations were intact, zero balance, accommodation receipts, doctor's communication, cash, accommodation booking, my letter of consent, copy of my Id card and employment stuffs, e.t.c). Finally he stamped her in for 6months smiley .

Thanks.

Congratulations!!

On getting to the extended accommodation after week 1, wifey wasn't comfy with the room because there was no sufficient space for my Daughter to play, so the search for a bigger accommodation service. She found one a 2 bedroom apartment (though not through airbnb) via asking around. She went to inspect it and took pictures for me to approve though it was twice our accommodation budget I agreed and She moved in. Did all her registrations at the hospital and also continued her search for birthing center (she started this before going) because she wanted water birth. She got one, registered and paid, then went for series of tests (some paid some were included in the bill). She was advised to get "Salus-Haus Floradix Iron ..." and eat lots of veg, reduce fruit intake. She followed all advises.

Just after her 3rd visit to birthing center she went to Walmart to buy more veg for the week, on getting to the house she went into labor (38th week). Only my daughter, herself and Jesus Christ in the whole building. She picked up the phone to call new friends made via the church who can take her to the hospital (she said my daughter [1+] was just crying mummy mummy), in less than 3 minutes her water broke only to find out that new baby was already wanting to arrive, so she dragged herself to the bathroom and turned on the shower while she wait for help and uber(she had already called uber ride) but in less than 10 minutes she had delivered the baby with Dr Jesus (no tear). Shortly after the new friend came in and they simply went to the birthing center for checks and the normal things there.

.

Mother and baby are doing fine, went back home in less than 6 hours wink .

Thanks.

Even though I have no idea how it works...
Wouldn't want to get stuck at that Oct. 5 date, just incase Nth comes up.

But I'll give it a shot!..

I've been too sad to even express excitement about getting my own Visa!! cry

Thanks for your input!
Deep Appreciations.

Great I love this....... Indeed a miracle baby. will the birthing center and the Dr now refund the money initially paid?

I doubt if the birthing center will make any refund though, hoping she can get something at least to use as addition to baby shopping.

Congratulations on the arrival of your bundle of joy!

You need not worry about departing the US. Stick to the plan as you have violated any law.

Cheers!

Dear all, pls one quick question..

A friend has a US visa in her old passport with her maiden name and wants to travel now but just realised that her new passport bears her married name, will this cause any issues at poe or at the airport?

Also if she has to renew, can she do Dropbox? (Previous visa was tourism, if she applies again it will be medical) since both are in the same category...
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Answers needed asap pls.

Yes she can use drop box for B2/Medical.... I have always had B1/B2 but just renewed via dropbox for B2/Medical... After filling B2/medical and filling Ds form, when you are about to schedule for interview, all they will ask you is B1/B2 related questions for you to qualify for drawbox.

Also before she can schedule the appointment on her profile, she needs to write to US service desk attaching her old passport, new passport and Marriage certificate requesting they update her profile to the new surname and also update the new passport number ( their response takes time though). It is only on that premise she can proceed to schedule appointment and be qualify for drop box.

If she wants to travel with the new passport but the visa is on her old passport that is having her old name, she should go with Marriage certificate and show them at the point of entry

You dont need to change your return date because of that. Your real "visa" are the dates you are stamped into the country for. I travelled once on February 1 with a visa expiring February 2 and I stayed for 2 whole weeks. I have since been issued over 4 visas since then.

Houston mamas, stay safe!

I hear areas in Houston are devastated. Sugarland inclusive and the flooding continues and worsens.

If you didn't evacuate before the flood, remain in your homes and call 911 if you enter labour.

No electricity sef.

Lagos/Delta flooding were nothing compared to this Hurricane Harvey flooding.

Houston's airports and runways are flooded. Flights cancelled. Passengers already in the airports entered any available flight just to get out of the city, some landed in strange destinations.
southwest airline evacuated 500 passengers from Houston to Dallas
Over 20 trillion gallons of rainfall, 62 counties labelled disaster zones.

Na real wa!!!
