You're absolutely right. The macro issue is grosss corruption and ineptitude. The micro issue is that Godswill Akpabio owns the state. I would say that out of the N68.9 billion Akwa Ibom received, Godswill Akpabio alone probably collected 40% to 50% of that amount through the various fraudulent schemes he setup while leaving office.

The fact is that Udom Emmanuel cannot face-up or challenge anything Akpabio does because he is using Akpabio's political structure to remain Akwa Ibom Governor.

Not only is Nigeria a cursed country, Akwa Ibom is specially cursed considering it remains one of the least developed state with an alarming level of poverty. Godswill Akpabio routinely brags to people that he is to Akwa Ibom what Obasanjo and IBB is to Nigeria.

He wants to create the Akpabio dynasty, where he and his family members own the hospital, airport, the liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos, the private jet he bought using Akwa Ibom monies and even the Akwa Ibom state governors residence.

Godswill Akpabio owns everything in Akwa Ibom and he controls the entire finances of the state; the reason why Udom Emmanuel is a non-performing lame duck.

Godswill Akpabio is the pain in Akwa Ibom State's ass!!!

Akwa Ibom should be shining but our national curse (corruption) won't let it happen

Funny enough, all this wage bills, debt deduction and net amounts of a thing, many people in this thread do not understand it including me....that is why you see some people typing what they don't understand.

The truth is the Igbos are not even contributing anything in Nigeria. The oil is hugely found in the South South. So afonja Kanu is greedy and selfish by misleading the Igbo people for self determination.
Little brain how much is sokoto borno n kastina contributing? But they more than osun, ekiti, ogun n oyo.

Not True go check your history well. The Ijaws and other minority tribes dominate the South South not Igbos.

why deduct small amount from Anambra (the lowest I think) and then allocated heavy amount for them?
deductions are their debt obligations.

Your analysis is flawed. You forget to minus dependants, unemployed and senior citizens. You can't just tax everybody in a state regardless of their employment status.

mrvitalis:
This is actually very small to run a state

Imagine my state imo with over 3million people with 17bn in 6 months ??

If every individual is taxed 5k a month that's 15bn every month and with that we will get our desired development and we will have reason to hold our governors accountable

But no we decide to spend far more to achieve nothing

A typical car owner in Nigeria will spend 400k a years averagely to maintain his cars

But as him to pay a tax of 10k a month for road maintaince that will save his car he will protest

We have over 11 million cars in Nigeria ...if on average each pays 10k every month that's 110bm that's over 1.2 trillion on road maintaince

Say federal government takes 30% and states 70% of what you contribute tell me why we would have bad roads

The only thing this low IQ ipob miscreant contributes to Nairaland is posting afonja all over the place. grin cheesy If he's not doing that, then he's shamelessly gobbling SS nuts like the parasite that he is . Ondo, Lagos and Oyo states earned more allocation than all your 5 potopoto villages. You should be more concerned about that. Ogun state is clearly doing well even with low FA as a result of debts.

I thought you Igbos said your states produce oil too. Why is your FA so low? grin grin cheesy. Another proof that you parasites aren't contributing anything to this country other than meaningless protests, gorilla-style chest beating and gobbling SS nuts lol. Please don't reply me with "yet you're afraid of Biafra" line. If I had my way, I'll flog you back to your villages today

'ondo, Lagos n oyo' lmfao.

Pls tell us the igr of ondo oyo and osun.

Are the 3million you want to tax working? or you want to tax unemployed people?

He gave an average of 5k per head.

If All the booming businesses can pay their taxes n all employed people pay theirs, the total will still be around 5k per head per citizen.

you can use this to assess the performance of your state Governor.
Governors should be rated base on the resources avalaible, and how well they have applied the income to better the lives of their people. Because there are Governors with lower allocations that are performing very well but because they are not building flyovers and bridges, sadly nobody talks about them.
How do u mean with flyovers and bridges?

The deductions is according to loans n monies they owe.

The heavy amount allocated to them is part of monies FG generated through them n also monies FG sends to dem monthly as allocation.

And yet, the growths and development in Lagos evelopes that of all the big revenue collectors put together.

If Onne port is opened n upgraded to maximum capacity, Lagos state won't generate 25 billion naira monthly ever again....... I never talk of opening other seaports in Delta, cross river states.

Where is the nonsense you just mentioned done in the world, or you want to use Nigeria as a Guinea pig? The money you just saw can as well be invested with its proceed paid to the states as IGR, they dont need to give the FG a kobo, so why are they not taking that route?

If you commercialize Onne port, what will the oil and gas industry use? port duty is collected by the FG not Lagos state government.
maybe you don't really know why cross river, rivers and delta ports are inland waterways hub.

Osun gave more than it got? Guys over there must be wolves.

Funny enough in 2009 when I did my national service in Ipetumodu, Osun State, the Prince of Okuku was governor and Aregbesola wanted to take over. He looked like he was the messiah.

Its really funny how these things work and how peoples hope get well ruined by their people in government.
Go to osun now and assess the level of physical development.

I swear, the only thing wrong with him is salary and he even used to pay 13th month salary
