Since the commencement of its operations in the late 1950’s, the Company has evolved into a strong player with a robust clientele consisting of leading Nigerian corporates and subsidiaries of multinationals. The company serves as an intermediary between its clients and their shareholders by providing a complete range of share registration and data management services. Can y'all do a profile on this Yoruba jewel?

Simi Fajemirokun is one of the young Nigerians listed on the Top 10 Young Nigerian Entrepreneurs under 30. She set up an advisory company - ESFAJ & Partners, due to her disatisfaction with the mediocre consulting services, being provided by foreign firms to Nigerian agencies. She has done a lot towards the rebranding of the Nation’s image overseas, and has contributed toward positive growth at home, through the Abuja Global Shapers initiative and the Read2Succeed (R2S) Africa programme, an NGO dedicated to reviving the education sector.

Simi's involvement in a corporate social responsibility programme, opened her eyes to the decay in the sector. From the outcome of a field research in education conducted in a few states, she discovered that 50 per cent of children could not read or write in primary schools. This made her think of different ways in which Nigerian educational system could be upgraded, to become Africa’s giant in education. Her NGO has since impacted over 1,200 students in schools and is looking forward to impacting thousands more, using the power of partnerships.

"At Read2Succeed (R2S Africa), we are committed to improve the state of education in public schools. We constantly question the status quo of poor education in Nigeria and strongly believe that education should inspire tomorrow’s solutions. So we develop programmes that positively impact on the environment, teacher and pupils. We were horrified to see how low the literacy level was, where some students in primary six could not spell basic words like cat, bat or sat. Between the experience and the facts, it was too big a problem to ignore.

On the other hand, by showing up once a week, we saw the difference it made on the school – the school fence was built, security personnel were hired, making the school was now safe and secure. School taps were fixed, and students now have access to water. The library became better equipped with books; teacher absenteeism reduced by 90 per cent; the school block was connected to electricity for the first time in 10 years; students went on excursion for the first time and 70 per cent of our students improved their reading and public speaking skills. The results were incredible; so we decided to scale up.

Her energy and devotion towards effecting change has been described as 'highly admirable.' Simi was raised in the U.S and the U.K, but always yearned for the opportunity to work, serve and make a difference in the developing world. She was a project manager for a large American pharmaceutical company abroad, but decided to resign her job in order to take up work in her country of origin - Nigeria. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/07/08/simi-fajemirokun-nigeria-needs-education-that-prepares-children-for-the-future-and-not-the-past/

Simi Fajemirokun holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Politics, from the University of Reading, United Kingdom as well as certifications in International Negotiations and Project Management. She is a board member of Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative, an Abuja-based NGO focusing on orphans/vulnerable children, and providing free HIV/VCT testing in rural areas. She also participated at the Google Summit Against Violent Extremism held in Dublin, Ireland where she participated in developing strategy for the role of the social media, in de-radicalizing youth in extremist groups, around the world. Simi Fajemirokun is a recipient of the Good Planet Foundation award.

Simi’s focus has been on strategy development, crisis management and information management.

Gideon Olanrewaju is the Founder of Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi) - a non-profit volunteer driven social enterprise that seeks to improve the access and quality of education available to disadvantaged children in rural communities across Africa, by providing them with educational, technical and infrastructural support, which enhances their access to quality education. Under his leadership, AREAi has supported over 3,000 children in rural communities across South West Nigeria.

He has held leadership positions in regional and international organizations such as All Nigerian United Nations Student and Youth Association (ANUNSA), World Merit and the International Youth Council (IYC) in Nigeria.

Gideon Olanrewaju is a graduate of Biochemistry from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Oyo state. He is also a 2015 YALITechCamp South Africa Alumnus, a flagship program of President Barack Obama for young and outstanding African leaders. He is also a Teaching Fellow/Certified Entrepreneurial Leadership Educator at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa and A Global Youth Ambassador with the Global A World at School International Campaign on Education.

Over the past 7 years, he has been active and also built expertise in community development, non-profit sector management, social change advocacy and civic leadership at local, national and regional levels.

AREAi started November 2014 as a charity organization with the name Learn to Lead Foundation, but the vision translated into Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi). Having grown up from a rural community with limited learning opportunities, and unsafe learning environment, Gideon Olanrewaju saw the need to bridge the gap, and provide educational opportunities for underserved children in rural communities, in order to prevent them from suffering from the consequences of limited learning opportunities.

According to the UNESCO Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report 2015, Nigeria has approximately 10.5 million out-of-school children, the highest in the world which amounts to about 47% of the world's population of out of school children, a figure that is higher as compared to outer countries sich as Libya,Liberia or Togo.

For the 4.7 million children of all out of school children in Nigeria who are of primary school age, they are poor and vulnerable children who were born and are living in remote and desolate communities, sidelined majorly because of poverty or distance to school or violent extremism which has left many homeless and displaced in the country.

From January 2015 till date (August 2016), AREAi has worked with school administrators and teachers, partner NGOs, community heads, religious leaders and other stakeholders, corporate organizations and of course, passionate volunteers to directly impact over 3,000 learners in 8 schools across 4 different locations (Ile-Ife, Apete, Ogbomoso and Ibadan) in Nigeria.

Base on current capacity, we adopt 3 schools on a yearly basis, in selected host communities after conducting needs assessment surveys. Identified needs are addressed with resources mobilization, in form of basic educational and home supplies and school infrastructural support, as well as awareness and advocacy campaigns. Teaching needs are addressed through supplementary learning classes, mentoring sessions and non-conventional classroom learning on practical skills, for personal growth and societal transformation. https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/gideon-olanrewaju-restores-hope-of-learning-in-rural-communities-through-areai.222223/

Temitope Oluwadare got her Masters' degree in 2002, but she couldn’t get a job for two years. So she decided to volunteer for a non-profit organization, offering shelter and care for homeless people. During the period she was offering voluntary services to the organisation, she kept thinking of how to find a lasting solution to the sad situation, of unemployment.

One day, Temitope had an idea to start a cleaning business, and recruit the people she worked with while volunteering, to do the work as they need no qualification for the job. And her new business - Detailed Restorers, was born.

Today, Detailed Restorers with Temitope Oluwadare as the CEO, employs almost a 100 people and services 25 locations, with several multinationals, as customers. Temitope is a Goldman Sachs scholar and mentors hundreds of young people.

Detailed Restorers, offers the following range of services:

Janitorial Services - for corporate organizations and residences, to improve the overall image of their facilities, by creating a clean and safe environment, which helps to reduce accidents and absenteeism. The company's staff have been trained to use best cleaning practices, to protect investments made in each facility, to prevent high maintenance costs that might accrue from poor maintenance practices;

Floor Care / Maintenance - They also set up a cleaning and maintenance program/procedures for different floor types, carpets and rugs, restrooms, stairways, food areas etc., in order to protect them and extend the floor finish life. This practice goes a long way in preventing and limiting contamination of the building interior from dirt and allergens, that may adversely impact air quality, health, building finishes and systems/ This can also be achieved by putting in place an entryway maintenance program.

Post Construction / Renovation Clean Up - Removal of after renovation/construction debris, stains and dirt from floors, windows, fittings and fixtures, etc.

They also offer Fumigation and Pest control services as well as scheduled weekly, biweekly/ monthly home cleaning services for homes, offices and apartments.https://www.detailedrestorers.com/

Their clients include Etisalat Nigeria, Westerfield College, Fountain of Life Church, AIICO, City Hall Lagos etc.,

“When you find the place called ‘purpose’, stay there. I had always been very brilliant and ambitious growing up as a kid, but I failed serially at everything I tried until I started Tenstrings in 2007. That moment when I realised that the Tenstrings idea was ‘purpose’, I’ve stuck to it for the past 10 years without looking back or sideways.

I can’t promise you that the place called ‘purpose’, would be a comfortable place to stay; but no matter how tough it is (especially in the beginning), believe me it is still the best place you can be on earth.‎

So how do you know you’re in a place of purpose? –

It is the only place you’ll be, and you don’t have to count the hours and days: they just slip by unwittingly. It is the only place where little means much. It is the only place where happiness meets fulfilment. The place of hope; the place of strength. The place of passion; the place of freedom. And above it all, the place where you are YOU.‎

Get up, Go now! Go find the place called ‘purpose’! And when you do, STAY THERE!”

- Emmanuel Akapo, Entrepreneur, Founder, TenStrings Music School, Lagos.

I found this piece on another blog and just wanted to share it. I don't know the person who said it, but the words resonated with me. undecided

Morenike Okupe, CEO of Malas Foods & Catering Services spotted an opportunity, and grew it to become a multi-million naira business. In 1992 Morenike Okupe’s friend approached her to help look for a caterer to provide food for her brother’s wedding, as part of her support for the wedding. After a reasonable search, she didn’t find anyone suitable for the menu that had been discussed, and realized that this was an opportunity to start a business.

Morenike gathered her mother’s pots, pans and started preparation for the wedding. The outcome was a success, and she soon started receiving orders for conferences and weddings. Today, Malas Foods celebrates 20 years anniversary of catering food in Nigeria, with 45 people in its employ, and an average of 200 catering services every month. Mrs. Okupe is an Industrial Relations and Personnel Management graduate from the University of Lagos, with different management and marketing courses from reputable business schools.

"God’s benevolence has been our staying power. Trust, hard work and passion keep us going. Trust is an essential attribute in this business, and so we are very conscious of this in all our dealings. Discipline is also important in this business. We also pay attention to details in Malas.

One thing that will make a client have a face-off or yell at you, is when you don’t prepare. We adequately prepare; our servers are always enough, and we plan our logistic well. If things are in place, no client will rubbish you. I can’t imagine our client get agitated to the extent, that he or she will shout at us. By the grace of God we always cater beyond our clients’ expectation. We put so many things into consideration while catering and this also has created a niche for us. We go the extra mile for our clients." http://independent.ng/honesty-is-the-watchword-to-succeed-in-catering-business-okupe/

Malas Foods & Catering Services has catered for guests, at a lot of high profile events. Even though the company keeps its clientele list under wraps, a few industry watchers can still cite some ready examples. They handled the entire catering services for Tiwa Savage's star studded wedding to TeeBillz a few years back. Over =N=30 million was reported to have been spent on that wedding.

Having grown up from a rural community with limited learning opportunities, and unsafe learning environment, Gideon Olanrewaju saw the need to bridge the gap, and provide educational opportunities for underserved children in rural communities, in order to prevent them from suffering from the consequences of limited learning opportunities.

Lord have mercy!!!!

See fresh food.
