Start here - https://www.ets.org/gre

You can either take the general test (quantitative and verbal) or the chemistry subject test (if you are confident enough).

If you plan to start school by january (3 months from now), you should have taken your GRE months ago and already be communicating with your school with respect to obtaining the needed paperwork for your visa and opportunities for graduate school funding.

You really don't need help, you're simply intellectually lazy.

Hello,

I applied twice in the last two months for us student visa but was denied .

Below is the transcript firom first interview

The first interview :
Vo: which university are you planning attend?

Me: told him the name of the school (California Miramar)

Vo: how many schools did you apply to?

Me: two and I mentioned the name of the school.

Vo: how did you hear about the school:

Me: I have an acquaintance studying in the school.

Vo: do you have a previous graduate degree

Me: yes, MBA Marketing from a Nigerian university

Vo: why another MBA?

Me: my previous study has been in marketing but since I've worked all my life in the financial sector an MBA in Finance will aid my career growth and aspirations

Vo: how will you fund your education

Me: savings from my job and business that I do by the side

Vo: are you married?

Me: yes with kids

Vo: how will you take care of your family

Me: my wife works

Vo: I'm sorry you're not qualified for the visa at this time.

The second interview lasted less than two minutes.

I must however confess that the salary I indicated on DS-160 was far less that what I earn. I only indicated the monthly take home, I did not indicate my upfront, allowances and bonuses.

I am in the process of getting admission into another university, this time a public university.

Whaf are my chances.

Your advice

Second MBA?

It's difficult to believe you require a second MBA to function optimally at work.

The VO probably thought you have a different motive than studying. I share this line of thought too.

Evaluation of grade are for those going for either masters or PhD and not for those who wants to study for their first degree. Just scan ur result and send it to the school alongside your sat scores.

Ya, the exclusion of F grades from WES CGPA evaluations and the upgrades of our C, D and E results to B, C+ and C respectively make their conversion more favorable.

@lonelyhrt...do not be discouraged yet. If you have a copy of your transcript already with you, you can do the WES evaluation yourself to see if the final comes out to at least 2.5/4.0, before you go ahead and pay for the official evaluation. Here is how you do it:

any A you have still remains A = 4 points
your B becomes a B+ = 3.33
your C becomes a B = 3.00 points
your D becomes a C+ = 2.33
your E becomes a C = 2 points
your F still remains an F = 0 (but do not include any failed courses as part of your calculation, only the years that you passed them).

The rest of the CGPA calculation is as usual.

A 3-unit course you made a C in (the C is now a B on the US scale = 3 points) now becomes 3 units * 3 points = 9 grade points.
A 2-unit course you made a D in now becomes C+ = 2.33 = 2 * 2.33 = 4.66 grade points
A 2-unit course you made an E in now becomes C = 2 points = 2 * 2 = 4.00 grade points and so on.

As usual, sum up all your grade points, and divide by the total number of units you did from first year to final year (excluding the units for all failed courses), that should give you your CGPA on the 4-point scale. Do the conversion and let us see if it comes up to 2.5/4.0, and if it does, congratulations. You may now proceed to the official WES evaluation.

In addition to Bowie State University and Morgan State University, I know two other schools that have 2.5/4.0 as minimum GPA requirement for bachelors degree that could admit you for Masters. Do not give up hope yet but you will have to be up and doing about it. Masters in Pharmacology with a 2.50/4.00 GPA may not be too feasible and I strongly advise that you go for similar but less-competitive health courses just so that you get admitted and get in the US and you could try changing your course after first semester of study in the US (provided you make a 3.0/4.0 GPA in your first semester). It is doable but you gotta work hard for it.

Hi big fracis,i have done all regarding the c.gpa do you mind posting it here for more clarifications or i pm you ?

Especially when everyone knows that Networking takes >50% of an MBA programme.
What network is he going to build at "miramar university"?
Some people just enjoy making us all look bad.

It's not harsh, its just the truth. We sometimes have to be honest with ourselves. No she cannot attend a community college, her grades are way too low, she won't get in. No i do not know the reason she could not achieve a better CGPA, but i would predict laziness and unseriousness were key factors. It's really not that hard to get straight Cs in school and end up with a 2'2 at the worst. What has prayer to do with this? Is God going to read your books for you? cheesy

oh sorry dear you predicted wrongly,i know am a very serious student i had some issues back then in school ranging from finances and lecturers which affected my carrer i had a year i couldn't get back to school i didn't deffer that year i wrote the exams it was carried over as extra school year..

i know am a determined and focused lady situations turned so many things around my life but i feel everything happened for a reason maybe to build me up for greater heights i know going back for another degree in that desired field,i will do so much better in a principled environment i went through alot of emotional trauma/sexual harrasment. yea i still feel pained for such grade but God knows why i know am not dumb my course mates i graduated with in the same department with good cgpa are still looking for jobs which one came one day to my hospital with cv but it happened for me with 3figured pay.

i know if i had atleast 2.5/5 i would be out of the country now but the cgpa has prevented lots from me,but who knows ? The creator knows
why i went through all these
N/B what am i saying? You don't have to conclude on peoples life many things led to all that happened on that cgpa which i think environment influenced it more am a determined lady destined to do exploits.

Hope you noticed I said I'll be differing from spring to fall and not fall to spring semester. I'm sorry if I'm asking much questions but I saw something like the difference must not be more than five months and January to August is 8 months. That's why I'm here to ask the gurus on this thread but it seems most people don't know much about it.
Five months is for students who have been studying in the US but are absent. This case you've already entered the US before and your absence shouldn't be more than five months. I still don't know what more you wanna hear. Your visa is for 2years. No condition to come in Spring or fall. When going for fall 2018, request an I-20 for fall 2018. That's all

I was actually in Jaja Hall for 2 years; since Jaja (and after school) I have not gone to bed before 1:30am. My readjustment simply hasn't come.

5 months is not for new students but old student. .....new student just need an updated i20 and potentially a reason for the deferment if asked at POE
