Firstly, open-mindedness is a virtue. In that vein, I am not sure how my comment showed a conflict of interest or bias. Projecting much?

I am aware of the context behind this thread and this doesn't justify the never ending comments being churned out of this thread. It has now gone beyond reinforcement of superiority into a self-serving nonsense. Anyways, the first 100 pages had already dealt the 'much necessary blow' to dispel any myth (from a perspective of Yoruba) projected in the other thread.

In the midst of challenges currently being faced by the great Yoruba nation, the energy and the number of comments shows a wrong priority IMO. There are simply more pressing issues that warrant the energies I am currently seeing on this thread. Each to their own I guess.

Smh, another example is this thread. https://www.nairaland.com/3941777/ibadan-pictures-development-fastest-growing/32#59950230

I don't expect you to really grasp the motivation of the Yorubas contributing to this thread. No, I do not. Like I said in my earlier comment, this thread was created to set the records straight. It started as a response to igbo taunts, but by now it's evident that it has taken on a life of its own, so to speak. Does that mean that everything is 'peaches and cream' with the Yoruba nation? Certainly not. But that isn't limited to the Yorubas alone. Every race on earth is a work-in-progress in one form or another, and will experience its ups and down moments, rise and decline, and what have you. And I guess Yorubas are not an exception in that regard. Entirely separate threads can be opened to discuss other relevant matters that may be confronting us as a people. But this particular thread will continue to grow as more Yorubas break new grounds and make their marks in their chosen field of endeavour, and that could include even you, if you identify as one of us.

I believe the ibadan thread was also created to project the city from a more complimentary and Yoruba perspective, as opposed to the many misrepresentations that abound, especially among certain ilk on this same forum. I don't see nothing wrong with that.

@ dollyak oo look bad at all.

For the education aspect, you need to visit other regions during waec and see for yourself, or just ask people that served in the south east and North about their experience during the exams. Am sure you will know that even the missionary schools in South East need to be shut down not to talk of other Hopeless schools.

Education generally is bad in the country but when comparing South West to other regions we still remain the best. Currently, many of our University output have proven this over the years.

As for poverty rate you mentioned, I don't think I need to comment on that because you didn't do your research at all. Bigger economy translate to better standard of living directly or indirectly. Secondly, most industrialized region also translate to lowest unemployment rate.

My dear we have a lot to be happy about just that we are still far from where we are going.

The "I am Yoruba, by the way" crew who offers nothing significant for Yoruba interest, growth and discussion on this forum.

They only crawl out of their holes when passionate Yorubas make an effort to paint Yorubas in a good light.

You won't find them on anti-Yoruba threads fighting for Yoruba image. No, not at all.

They claim to know what's going on outside of this forum and that there are bigger issues, but me thinks they're just the Yoruba coons, niggers and house nigger or whatever they call themselves.

This thing was also on the Ibadan thread crying about the pictures, but did she contribute anything of substance, no.

Reason with her like an IPOD.

The 'I am Yoruba, by the way' crew and IPODs have the same mission on this thread and any pro-Yoruba thread.

What aim is this thread achieving if I might ask? It's pretty conclusive how anyone who doesn't think in one dimensional ways as you lots are being categorised as pseudo Yoruba.
Perhaps, If you had bother to look at my post history you wouldn't have made such a stupid hasty conclusion. Simpleton.

The aim has been explained to you over and over again on this thread. undecided So why do you keep repeating the same question? I may not be Yoruba, but I can easily spot the reason for the thread a mile off. It was created to set the records straight. Okay, let me say this slowly and I hope you will get it this time - the thread was created to show that the people of the Southwest (and their kin in the NC) are accomplished achievers in every sector of the economy, who have contributed meaningfully to all spheres of life within this country, and beyond. They can hold their own anywhere, and have excelled in many parts of the world. Got it? shocked Another thread can be opened by your good self, to discuss any other issue which you feel holds more importance, than this one. Please feel free to do so...

Comprehension doesnt appear to be your biggest strength. Have you ever heard of beating a dead horse? Okay, Yorubas are great and?
Let me ask you a question, if someone were to compare Lagos to any other states in Nigeria would you guys had put so much effort to prove them wrong?
The answer is no, as it's self evident. Now go chew on that.

Ah I know. Only Lagos counts in Yoruba land. I think I've heard some pigs and idiots say something very similar. This is why threads like this and the Ibadan thread must be kept alive so that young Yoruba will know Lagos isn't our only asset. There's brains, brawn and even geographic assets.

I used to think like you some 3 years ago until I saw the rabid hate on us from the powder sellers. Then I discovered how empty their boasts and braggadocio was and I threw all gentility to the winds. We are better than them and will forever be. If this is childish pride, I can't help it grin

If you truly mean what you say about more pressing issues to discuss, start those threads and we'll be there to contribute as much as we can.

I must admit, it's really disheartening to see so much hatred from the Igbos. It is what it is and the response here is understandable.
To address your comment. No, Lagos isn't the only place that counts in SW, but its the only state whose development compared to others state isn't contentious. So Lagos was merely an example.
My comment was more of a bigger picture, if you know what i mean. With respect to your last paragraph I am going to work on it.

Exactly

yIGBOs noise on little achievement and empty chestbeat are really working on some people's psyche.

If Lagos,Ogun and Ibadan are to be in Igboland or Dangote,Adenuga, okoya, otedola, folorunsho Alakija, bola shagaya are to be Igbo(s) or U.I ,OAU and Unilag are in SE,their noises will haved deafened other tribes!..I really love yorubas,we dont shout.well, empty barrel makes the loudest noise.

Dangote investment alone in lagos dwarf that of IGBOs combined. You will never see hausa fulanis claiming 75% ownership of lagos. They are so grateful that you will even see dangote yorubanizing himself
