This was their ultimate agreement b4 awo was released.
I can assure you that there was no such agreement. smiley The order to free Awolowo came from Gowon; even though Ojukwu could have refused to release him if he chose to. Problem was Ojukwu felt Awolowo owed him for this show of magnanimity; and chose not to consult with Awolowo and expected Awolowo to court him (when it should have been the other way round). Gowon was wiser and actively courted Awolowo. That made the difference.

I guess you didn't get your info well... at the heat of the event, gowon cannot order Ojukwu. Ojukwu did an underground politics by releasing awo so as to have in on his side with the aforementioned agreement.
Awolowo was only cajoled by gowon and his team by making him finance minister cos they knew if awo declear Republic of oduduwa, they cannot fight against both sides. But awo accepted to be cajoled by betraying Ojukwu who released him from prison.

Yet these "minority" sabos ensured easy access to Biafra through Port Harcourt eh?

You cannot betray when there was no pact. You may continue to speculate, but no pact existed in the real world, between Ojukwu and Awolowo; except in the minds of Biafrans.

All those epistles in an attempt to re-write history? What stopped Odumegwu Ojukwu from taking the fight to the enemy by himself? The coward "trusted" his friend to do that. After Banjo was cowardly murdered by Ojukwu, one would expect him to them take the fight to Dodan Baracks himself, the enemies headquarters. But he didn't.
When the battle got too hot for Ojukwu, with Benjamin Adekunle (aka the scorpion) on a perpetual slaughter of the hungry and demoralised Biafra soldiers, the coward abandoned his men and flee to Abidjan with tails between his legs.

Benjamin Adekunle and virtually all yorubas are cowards.

Fact is that had the 3 world superpowers of UK, US(secretly) and the USSR(Russia) not entered the war soley to suck the Biafran oil, the ill equiped Biafran side would have demolished the unmotivated and cowardly Nigerian side.

Virtually all the Nigerian pilots were Russian trained Egyptian Mig fighers. After the Ore sabotage by Afonja traitor and Ifeajuna, world superpowers led by the british, provided massive firepower and manpower to Nigeria, so just like Sadam Hussien cannot take on the US, the Biafran side, could not withstand the firepower and personnel of 3 world superpowers!

If the war was a straight fight between the peoples of Eastern Region /Biafra and the peoples of Nigeria alone, without the firepower of the 3 world superpowers, the nation of Biafra would have crushed the cowardly Nigerian side within 5-6 months!

Have you asked yourself what happened to awo after the war?

You are the only one making assumptions here. I deal in facts. Whatever you think happened to Awolowo after the war is beside the point; afterall he voluntarily resigned his position from the Gowon government having performed meritoriously. Shikena.

For the records brother incase you dnt know, awo was accused of treason by gowon's govt after his great service to him.
That prompt awolowo to commit suicide cos he felt betrayed thinking power will be passed to him after gowon's reign.
Have you asked yourself why he committed suicide?

come to think about this. How can you be fighting for one united Nigeria from a secessionist side and at the same time trying to liberate western region from northern troops. The whole essay deserves better editing to cohere. You don't just publish anything because you think you can write and or speak good English. A writer is a creator with a great sense and knowledge of logic and not a promoter of emotional fallacy as in V. Banjo first son's account. I for one do not accept anything published. I try to verify the authenticity of the logic.

You can't be my friend only to use my property and wealth to further your course which is against mine. In the light of this I will declare you enemy of my course and a back stabber.

V Banjo's should re-edit the contents of their essays before the final publication to avoid the sincere contradiction of V. Banjo's life course.

Just a piece of advice to them, though.

You sabi write junks sha. But you know what? I read just the first line. Another attempt to re-write history. Benjamin Adekunle is an household name among Ndigbo who witnessed the war. How can they forget. Ojukwu's lack of diligence and arrogance that made the fight look too easy for the scorpion. When next you get to your village just mention Benjamin Adekunle and see how your grand father take cover. I'm not joking, just mention the name.
USA, UK, bla bla bla fighting on the Nigeria side? You've got to be kidding me. Na world war? These are the countries trying to feed you during the war. Nigeria prevented them from doing so out of concern that you could use that means to smuggle weapons to Biafra. You're ridiculous, I tell you.

From Awolowo/Ojukwu deal to Awolowo/Gowon deal. Na wa o. This Awolowo despite being a lawyer seemed to have a penchant for having deals not written on paper; rather written in Biafran minds.

Please tell.me when Awolowo commites suicide; was it during Gowon's regime or after Gowon was toppled? Enlighten me please.

A man at 78yr committed suicide? Lol.

How old was Ojukwu when he died? Same 78! Should we then say he committed suicide seeing that he was even senile and foaming in the mouth, compared a man that died sleeping like a beauty on his death bed? Heck! Awo's dead body was displayed for many days and no sign of poison was found in him.

Anyway, pray you get to reach that age.

#VictorBanjo: The Children Speak

by Deji Yesufu

Today, September 1, 2017, the scheduled media project to shed light on the person and life of Brigadier Victor Adebukunola Banjo begins.

To kick start the project, the first son of the late Nigerian army officer, Dele Victor-Banjo, shall be speaking through an article. I have decided to serialize that article in three parts and shall begin publishing today.

Following his, Banjo's first child, Funto Banjo Oyeleye, will have the floor with her own article. She will be shedding light on happenings in their home that morning of January 17th, 1966. Since she is the oldest, she alone has the best recollection of the day their father was arrested.

Olayinka Banjo Omigbodun, Banjo's third child, will be speaking through an article on her father also. After her, we hope to have something from Adeyemi Banjo, the Banjo family youngest child. He was six months old when their father was arrested.

There will be videos made on their father. And some of the articles here will be published in national dailies. There will also be radio and newspaper interviews.

The month of September, 2017, is a solemn month for the Banjo family. They would rather have spent this month in quiet solitude. But journalists like us have gotten them out to speak.

I therefore request that comments made on these threads with hash-tag Victor Banjo be made with due respect to them and their late father.

Following their own media project, I'll begin to publish my book on their father: The Story of Victor Banjo. The book will be available on Amazon.com and Okadabooks.com. Watch out for it.

Thank you.
I cannot wait to read this book! shocked sad Adichie's book 'Half of a Yellow Sun,' which was a fictional story set during the war period, was made into a movie. I pray this book on Banjo, gets made into a film that will be watched by all and sundry. undecided We need to have as many different perspectives on the war, as possible.

I think its hypocritical for people to say that Banjo believed the unity of Nigeria yet, the same Banjo became a brigadier in the Biafran Army and commanded a Biafran Army division.

What is someone who believes in ONE NIGERIA doing in the Biafran Army?

Banjo, Ifeajuna, Mr Abam and Mr Alale all plotted to topple Ojukwu and they were arrested before they could perfect their plan, were tried and executed.

The details of their arrest and excerpts of their trial can be found in "No place to hide: Crises and conflicts inside Biafra"

Banjo was secretly recorded as he plotted to overthrow Ojukwu and paid the price all failed coup plotters pay

Where is the recording which shows that Banjo planned to topple Ojukwu?? Did you listen to it, at any point in time? Upload it here.

That singular act sabotaged their efforts.
If not for region sentiment, banjo's troop would have penetrated the west boosting their advantage in war front.
These are part of spoils of war.
What dirty advantage? undecided Banjo's army was ill-equipped, to take on that expedition to the West. They would have been annihilated by the federal air-forces, once they got to the outskirts of Lagos! shocked At that time, he was reported to have had only 7000 (ill-equipped) troops, while the Nigerian army at the end of the war numbered around 250,000. Banjo knew this, so that was why he sought an easy passage to Lagos by meeting with a few key Yoruba people, who he felt could have expedited this request to gain entry into the West, - a request which was firmly denied. undecided
